Veronika Konopásková Schizophrenia: Impact on quality of life Annotation The goal of the thesis is to understand the impact of schizophrenia on quality of life of the patient. Schizophrenia is defined and its most common forms and symptoms are presented. I describe the origin, course and prognosis of the disease. I focus on the concept of relapse and suicide risk in patients with schizophrenia. Treatise on the treatment is divided into psychosocial and biological methods. I deal with the concept of Quality of life in general and in connection with schizophrenia. I discuss the problem of stigmatization of the mentally ill patients. The example of three selected organizations (Baobab, ESET-HELP, DPS "Ondřejov") illustrates the wide range of psychosocial rehabilitation programs offered for mentally ill. To capture authentically all aspects of life with schizophrenia, I conducted three in-depth interviews with persons diagnosed with schizophrenia. Misuse of Drugs and Addictive Substances in the Old age

Anotation The aim of this thesis is to draw attention to the issue of medical drug and addictive substance abuse in the old age. It describes the bio-psycho-socio-spiritual changes and needs of the elderly which are often connected with the start of harmful use of medical drugs. It lists the substances which are most commonly abused in the old age and it demonstrates the theory by means of concrete casuistries. Overuse of and addiction to addictive substances is not investigated enough by either addictology, geriatrics or social work. The aim of this thesis is to discuss the whole problem area from the point of view of social work, which should be paying more attention to it.

The Approach of Children Helplines Consultants toward suicidal Clients

The purpose of this thesis is to introduce the problem of suicidal behavior of children, adolescents and young adults as well as the kind of work with such people in telephone crisis intervention. The theoretical part is based primarily on literature written by Czech as well as foreign authors. It describes the phenomenon of suicide, forms and kinds of suicidal behavior with the focus on the influence of developmental characteristics to a suicidal crisis within the above mentioned focus group. Further the specific ways of work and approach to this group of clients are mapped from the point of view of telephone intervention. The ethics of working with a client is treated as a subtheme of this thesis. The practical part studies the approach of workers in phone intervention to suicidal clients and the way workers deal with possible ethical dilemmas. A methodological approach of qualitative research with semi-structured interview was applied. Interviews were conducted with selected participants from Linka Bezpeci.

Family relationships and connections depending upon spirituality

Dissertation deals with problems of family relationships and family structures. Target of my dissertation was bringing these relations and structures near. Theoretical part sketches terms as family, its evolution, function and parentcraft. Among others also forms of work with family. In theoretical part there are also brought near terms as a marriage, divorce and partnership. Empire part of dissertation dedicates to the opinions of students of Theological faculty on the family relationships and structures in nuclear family and it also dedicates to their ideas of future common life

Evaluation of Low - treshold services for children and youth in Hradec Králové

My diploma thesis deals with Low-threshold services for children and youth and with fulfilling of the standards for quality in social services. Firstly I analysed problems of leisure time, historical events in the development in Low-threshold services for children and youth and binding documents for social workers. These problems are also discussed in relevance to the social services law. I mentioned the principles of low-threshold, aims of these establishments, target group and the whole process of this programme. One chapter deals with the management and financing and with social workers, their qualities, competences and supervision as the aide in self-education, and beneficiaries of social services and their characteristics. What threatens these beneficiaries are socio-pathological phenomenons, the most important ones are listed and I added the prevention. I described one mentioned establishment, which employs volunteers. For the evaluation of fulfilling of standards in social services I have chosen two low-threshold services for children and youth from Hradec Králové, where I have found if the standars are fulfilled or not by means of studying of methodology, observations and interviews with workers and beneficiaries. For conclusion I suggested some improvements which could be used in these establishments.
