TITLE: Kája Saudek comics AUTHOR: Natalia Militsina DEPARTMENT: Institute of Czech Studies SUPERVISOR: Mgr. Jana Dolenská ABSTRACT: This bachelor thesis topic is Czech comics artist Kája Saudek. The thesis consists of theoretical part, which is concerned with the artist`s biography and the definition of term "comics" and its concise history and practical part which contains analysis of selected works of art from the point of view of progress in style and models in Kája Saudek`s paintings. Practical part is comprised of analysis of four works, which are considered to be artist`s magnum opuses. These works are paintings for films Kdo chce zabít Jessii?, Čtyři vraždy stačí, drahoušku, and comics Muriel a andělé and Muriel a oranžová smrt. This bachelor thesis tries to study the progress of line and style in artist`s works and find out connections between his artworks and biography. The Representation of Šumava in the works of Karel Klostermann

This work deals with the fate of selected places or villages in which the stories of Karel Klostermanns literary works take place. Klostermann was an important writer of the 19th century, who dealt with the lives and the residents of Šumava in his literary works. The plot of his novels and short stories take place in different localities of Šumava. Šumava is a place that was populated predominantly with a German-speaking population in this time. In 1945 this population was forced to leave the region. The goal of my work is to show the reality of the former time in the literary work of Karel Klostermann. The focus is on selected locations and their fate up to the present. As a basis for this analysis are two selected novels from Karel Klostermann: V ráji šumavském, Ze světa lesních samot. (in English) The aim of this work is the analysis of connections and parallels between texts of Milan Kundera and Venko Andonovski in the context of postmodernism. The thesis tries to affect aspects of the Kundera's style and his specific concept of postmodernism with regard to their influence and inspiration for the creation of Venko Andonovski. Work will also focus on the differences and the similarities in the contrary, understanding and defining postmodern literature in the context of the Czech literary science and macedonian literary scientific discourse. Deml's "Moji přátelé/My Friends" from an intertextual viewpoint

The diploma thesis deals with the interpretation of Deml's prose anthology Moji přátelé/My Friends from an intertextual viewpoint. The work is focused mainly on the reconstruction of My Friends' genesis and intertextual structures and on the interpretation of identified references, i.e. allusions and quotations. The thesis also explores Deml's vocabulary of flowers by reference to Biedermeier's work, it surveys repertoire of the main motifs and offers analysis of author's poetics. The work is also focused on Deml's specific dialogue.
Biebl's Collection S lodí jež dováží čaj a kávu and its Context (the Exoticism of the Avant-garde)

This work's main concern is the analysis of the transformation of exoticism motives in Konstantin Biebl's S lodí jež dováží čaj a kávu. The interpretations of the text follow the context of the avant-garde exoticism in the era after World War I. The analysis is supported with motives of exoticism in Biebl's works from the 20's, and also with two works of his contemporaries: Jaroslav Seifert's collection of poems Na vlnách TSF and Vítězslav Nezval's Exotická láska. (in English): The Bachelor Thesis Autobiographical motifs in the literary works of Jana Černá is dedicated to the life and work of the Czech writer Jana Černá. The author concentrates on the autobiographical motifs in the writer's works and compares them with archival sources. The paper contains also a short biography of Jana Černá which not only delivers new facts but also corrects inaccuracies present in previous publications about the writer. The author also focused on the issue of official works during years 1948-1969 in relation to Jana Černá's work. The paper is complimented by visual materials.

This work illustrates the direction of naturalism and its' problematic achievements in Czech literature. The work is concentrated around Karel Matěj Čapek-Chod, who was one of the greatest representatives of this literary style. On the basis of literary analysis of his three novels (Kašpar Lén mstitel, Turbina, Antonín Vondrejc), the paper describes and depicts Čapek-Chod's comprehension of naturalism.
