The thesis entitled Czech solo flute production after the year 1950 deals with compositions which were produced from the 50?s of the last century to the present. The thesis is divided into three main parts. Important composers and their compositions for solo flute are introduced in the first part. Authors are classified in the chronological order and also basic facts of their biographies, which relates to their works, are given. Selected compositions are characterized mainly with respect to the period and conditions of their genesis. From my point of view, the most considerable composers of the period are Jindřich Feld and Jan Novák. Therefore, their biographies and production are described in the more details in the second part. The meanings of their pieces are here thoroughly characterized and also the way of publishing and recordings of their works are given. In the last part, other Czech flute composers and their compositions, which were not mentioned in the previous parts, are here summarized.
Philippe Gaubert:The Works for Flute and Piano in the Light of performing and aesthetical Aspect
Pingitzer, Simona ; Válek, Jiří (advisor) ; Pivoda, Radomír (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to characterize and describe each work by Philippe Gaubert for flute and piano. It serves as a resource for explanation of the unique idiomatic style of Gaubert´s composing for flute, and it will for sure arouse interest in studying and performing his music. The technical and performance aspects of the thesis are based on the methodic guide called Méthode Complète de Flûte, whose authors are Paul Taffanel and Philippe Gaubert. The Méthode is a valuable document for the flutists of all ages and levels, and also it is an inevitable basis for a deeper analysis of Gaubert´s flute music. When studying this music it is clear, which aspects of playing were so important for these significant teachers. Firstly, it concentrates on a high-quality tone production as a primary ideal, which is desired by every flutist. Musical elements such as tone colour, technique, dynamics, articulation and phrasing are thoroughly discussed at each Gaubert´s work, using his Méthode as a guide. Each analysis also suggests the level of the work´s difficulty and possible problems with technique, rhythm, tone range and musicality.

Furthermore, I concern his career development throughout his activities in Paris or Geneva and a settlement in America and, moreover, his movement during the World War. Last but not least I write about the very famous Masterclass of his. ?Moyse as a teacher? is a topic of the next chapter which represents the flutist's growth as a pedagogue, his way of teaching, the communication with students, and his own view of concrete flute techniques like tone, vibrato, interpretation etc. The next follows a part that is titled ?The Author?, where I describe his most famous collection of etudes and exercises. At the very end I present Moyse as an artist and very exceptional interpreter, I mention also his recordings and his ensemble - The Moyse Trio. All the chapters are completed by quotations of himself, his students, friends and family.
