Holub, Jiří ; Sánchez Fernández, Juan Antonio (advisor) ; Bellón Aguilera, José Luis (referee) ; Prokop, Josef (referee)
The theme of the dissertation is the important piece of 16th century Spanish prose, Retrato de la Lozana andaluza (Portrait of Lozana: The Lusty Andalusian Woman) by Francisco Delicado. Published anonymously in Venice around the year 1530, it fell into obscurity for the next three hundred years. The only known copy was discovered in the middle of the 19th century in Vienna. Over the next hundred and fifty years this literary curiosity gradually became recognized as an integral part of the Spanish literary canon. Still, the research of La Lozano andaluza continues to feature blank spaces and unresolved issues, and is at the same time characterized by its conflicting nature and the absence of a generally accepted consensus. The introduction of the thesis summarizes and evaluates the state and condition of present-day research and outlines the general problems of the literary canon and its exploration through the concept of a philological field. The aim of the first part of the thesis is to present all verified editing data and to focus on those aspects of the work that have been neglected. These include the typography and iconography of the original publication, the narrative structure and the overview and nature of the general meaning-making principles. Delicado's peculiar use of language, his...
Production of carotenoids grown on waste fat
Holub, Jiří ; Němcová, Andrea (referee) ; Márová, Ivana (advisor)
Carotenoids are lipid-soluble pigments which are contained in plants and microorganisms. Carotenoids are known for their antioxidant effects. Lipids are predominantly non-polar substances, which are essential and present in all types of organisms. The research was made by theoretical and practical form. It was dealing with production of carotenoids pigments and different lipophilic substances by yeasts of Rhodotorula glutinis, Rhodosporidium toruloides and Sporidiobolus metaroseus, cultivated in media containing waste fat or glycerol. Further, methods for obtaining lipid substances from microorganisms and with further analysis of samples by gas or liquid chromatography were optimized. The main task of the research was to find out which types of media and yeasts are the most suitable for production of lipid substances. For production of lipid substances in glycerol media, as the best producing strain Rhodosporidium toruloides was found, which simultaneously reported the highest concentrations of carotenoids on fatty and fatty hydrolyzed media.

Luis Cernuda - The Melancholic Poet Tossed beetwen the Reality and the Desire.

In this work I focus on the environment of selected works from Macondo cycle, where Gabriel García Márquez locates the story. My objective is to map the way Gabriel García Márquez describes the environment, occurrances aned characters' actions. I try to compare, from the point of veiew of a reader, to what extent these are descriptions of environment and inhabitants of South America and to what extent this is an expression of the author' s imagination using magical elements, allegories and metaphors. I accent the part played by wings and tableaus in selected works, mainly in the novel One Hundred Years of Solitude, and to what extent Gabriel García Márquez contributed to new narrative method by this.

Krátká, Tereza ; Holub, Jiří (advisor) ; Sánchez Fernández, Juan Antonio (referee)
The aim of the work is to sum up main function of the metafictional narrative strategies in two Cervantes' Exemplary Novels - The dialogue between Scipio and Berganze and The deceitful marriage. At the beginning, the text is focused on composition of both novels, mainly on their narrative structure. In the next part, the work is concentrated on analysis of reminiscences relevant - as for novels' genre, language and style - for interpretation of metaficitonal narrative with respect to the period of baroque upcoming. Then, the narrative structure is compared with Cervantes' novel Don Quijote which is based on the same type of narrative strategy. The author comes to the conclusion that the primary function of the metafictional narrative strategies is a possibility to interpret the question of the truth in relation to the baroque reality of the 17th century in Spain. The main importance of the work is presentation of a detailed narrative scheme of two novels, up to now absent in majority of theoretical works aimed at Exemplary Novels composition. Key words: Miguel de Cervantes, Dialogue between Scipio and Berganze, El coloquio de los perros, metafiction, intertextuality, credibility, narrative strategies.

Šatopletová, Petra ; Sánchez Fernández, Juan Antonio (advisor) ; Holub, Jiří (referee)
In the Bachelor's thesis Body and Sexuality in the Novel San Camilo 1936, we are going to pursue some of the principal themes of this work; these are based on depictions of the human body in its physical form, i.e. disease, injury, death, external appearance of the characters, and various aspects of sexuality. In order to get to analyze the respective themes, it is neccessary to get to know the author first. It's Camilo José Cela, often noted as one of the greatest novelists of the 20th century, a winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1989 and various other awards. Beside novels, Cela also wrote poetry, travelogs, plays, essays, short stories and newspaper articles. He is famous for his novel La Familia de Pascual Duarte (The Family of Pascual Duarte), introducing the new literary trend tremendism to the world of literature. The term tremendism is derived from the Spanish word 'tremendo', which can be translated as terrible, horrifying, raising fear etc. This by itself gives us an idea about this style's characteristics, which we are going to present in the following text. We consider it essential to give some insight into the period of history the novel was written and set in. It takes place at the very beginning of the Spanish Civil War, specifically the week around the 18th July 1936,...
