Electric motors for support of turbochargers
Kytner, Václav ; Kučera, Pavel (referee) ; Píštěk, Václav (advisor)
The bachelor´s thesis deals with turbocharging of combustion engines. In particular the characteristic of turbochargers and superchargers assisted by electric motors are described. According to novelty of these concepts, the author endeavours to adumbrate the main issues connected to subject from available sources and he outlines a possible application of these new technologies in future.
Rotordynamics of Modern Turbocharger
Fryščok, Tomáš ; Dundálek, Radim (referee) ; Kaplan, Zdeněk (referee) ; Píštěk, Václav (advisor)
This dissertation thesis consists rotordynamics of modern turbocharger. First part begins with prediction of critical speed, prediction of onset instability of oil whirl and oil whip by XLTRC2 and comparison with measured data (Cascade diagram, shaft motion, FFT analysis). List of measurement method for the detection of the natural frequency of turbocharger (EMA). Create software for long term monitoring and recording and output data size reduction. Detection of critical speed by defined measurement methodology without using software simulation with measured data from the Cascade diagram, move the rotor shaft motion in the bearing, FFT analysis and results from measurements of natural frequencies. Comparison of predicted data (critical speed, prediction of onset instability) program XLTRC2 with the values measured by this approach measurement (waterfall diagram, shaft motion, FFT analysis)
Powertrain design of a eight-cylinder aircraft engine
Ošmera, Petr ; Novotný, Pavel (referee) ; Píštěk, Václav (advisor)
Configuration of the powertrain of a flat-eight engine with ordered basic parameters is the theme of this thesis which name is Powertrain design of an eight-cylinder aircraft engine. This thesis occupies with configuration design of the crank mechanism and firing order, balancing of centrifugal and reciprocating forces and their moments, conceptual design of crankshaft and its stress calculation. This thesis also puts mind to calculation of torsional vibrations.
Swing axle of a truck
Holbík, Ondřej ; Novotný, Pavel (referee) ; Píštěk, Václav (advisor)
The main purpose of this diploma thesis is to design a swing axle of a truck for 4x4 chassis without wheel reduction gears. The study consist of two parts. The first part contains designs of main parts of the axle, mechanism of suspension and steering. The second part contains the gears housing stress analysis using the finite element method. The housing of gears is the arm of the swing axle, which is the main part of the chassis.
Dynamic Analysis of Valve Train Drive of Six-cylinder Engine with 24 Valves
Guláš, Tomáš ; Píštěk, Václav (referee) ; Dundálek, Radim (advisor)
Diploma thesis deals with the dynamic analysis of OHV pushrod valve train drive of the old-new conception of 6-cylinder tractor engine with 24 valves made by Zetor Tractors, a.s.. There is a requirement to create an analytical model and design valve springs for the engine. The work also points to the current analytical methods of appropriate simulation software used in automotive industry.
Localization of Combustion Engine Noise Origin with the use of Acoustic Emission
Rasch, František ; Mazůrek, Ivan (referee) ; Klíčník,, Martin (referee) ; Pražák, František (referee) ; Píštěk, Václav (advisor)
This doctoral thesis deals with the diagnostics of combustion engines, which have clearly suffered a mechanical damage. The text describes a basic principle of a diagnostics based on an observation of a noise of a running engine. There are mentioned the basic methods of a noise recording with direct conection to the specifics of measurement a running combustion engine noise. The introduction describes the spread of a vibration in solid structures. For the combustion engine vibration and source of noise is dedicated an independent chapter, which focuses on all noise generators, not only mechanical and thermodynamic but also noise caused by fluid and gas flowing. An integral part of the thesis is also a list and examples of signal processing, serving for efficient localization of the noise root cause. The noise statistics are compared with event diagram of engine investigation. Considering the information of the crank shaft position, we are then able to localize a possible root cause of the mechanical problem. For this purpose unique computer software for MS Windows operation system was developed. This system is able to generate event timelines of the piston engines. The inputs are basic engine data, such as the number of cylinders, ignition sequence, valve timing diagrams and information regarding two stroke or four stroke engine types. The program also allows us to detect a potential damage by direct comparison of the engine timeline and noise signal input. The thesis is also supplemented by measurements serving for key-parameter-diagnostics, i.e. the selection of the most suitable running engine operation. Comparison of different technical diagnostic approaches shows the suitability of mentioned diagnostic process.
Turbochargers for commercial vehicles
Valigurová, Renáta ; Svída, David (referee) ; Píštěk, Václav (advisor)
This bachelor thesis describe knowledge about turbocharging of internal combustion engines for commercial vehicles. The first part of thesis describes general issues of turbocharging internal combustion engines. The second part describes the knowledge about turbochargers for diesel powered commercial vehicles and trends in their development.
Three cylinder diesel engine for commercial vehicles
Briš, Tomáš ; Kučera, Pavel (referee) ; Píštěk, Václav (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with a design of a crankshaft for a three-cylinder diesel engine for commercial vehicles. The engine is a member of a unified line of engines with the number of cylinders from two to six. The main points of the work are a draft of the crankshaft configuration, the balance of inertial forces and the moments in the crank mechanism, creation of drawings of the crankshaft and finally carrying out a strength analysis of the part, taking into account torsional vibration. The aim is formation of a part – crankshaft for potential usage in the automotive industry.

Malchárek, Miroslav ; Vopařil, Jan (referee) ; Píštěk, Václav (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with popular car Škoda Octavia and combustion engines used in it. Thesis is divided into three chapters. The first chapter deals with a development of Škoda Octavia car. The second chapter approaches diesel engines used. The third chapter treats of commonly used combustion engines.
Six cylinder diesel engine for commercial vehicles
Pulava, Oleksandr ; Kaplan, Zdeněk (referee) ; Píštěk, Václav (advisor)
The aim of this diploma is to design a crankshaft for a six-cylinder commercial vehicle, which is one of the unified motors. The main parts are the design of the crankshaft configuration, the crankshaft balancing method for forces and moments, the crankshaft design documentation, and the crankshaft strength verification. The design of torsional vibration damping characteristics is also made and its effect on torsional vibration and crankshaft strength is determined.
