Aleš Holický of Šternberk. Nobleman and politician of the post Lipany period
Koula, Vít ; Bobková, Lenka (advisor) ; Zilynská, Blanka (referee)
In my thesis I deal with Aleš Holický, a significant representative of the Šternberk clan, in the post Lipany period. On the basis of sources, I am trying to chart especially his political programme, its creation and the fulfilment of the goal he was pursuing. I follow up his political orientation after the conversion to the chalice in the beginning of 1430s and try to describe the basis of his rise including the influence of the political groups which he was a member of. In this context, I explain Aleš's role in Ptáček's and Poděbrad's party and his interest in formulation and enforcement of their demands. On the basis of the evidence collected, Aleš's contribution not just to Czech utraquism, Ptáček's party, Poděbrad's party (later Poděbrad's league), in which he acted, as well as for the whole country is evaluated at the end. Thus, I am trying to revise some conclusions of older historiography in which Aleš's influence in the parties he belonged to as well as his independent negotiations have been underestimated. In Aleš's persistent, purposeful activity and merits I can see the substantiation of his inclusion among the significant personalities of Czech history and politics of the 1430s - 1450s. In my thesis, I am following up both Aleš's political programme and his relations to his allies and...

Borl, Petr ; Čechurová, Jana (advisor) ; Zilynská, Blanka (referee)
The diploma thesis concerns itself with a struggle of the administration of the Protectorate Bohemia and Moravia to deal with the consequences of the German action of 17th November, when as a revenge for previous demonstrations Czech universities in the Protectorate were closed and more than a thousand of their students were arrested and sent to concentration camps in Germany. The thesis is divided into 4 main chapters. The first one concerns itself concisely with reasons, course and immediate consequences of the German "Special action of 17th November 1939". The content of the second chapter is formed by an exposition of a struggle to achieve liberation of the jailed students and their comeback home that was realised by the interventions of the state president Hácha and the Protectorate government at the representatives of the occupation regime; and then an inquest of their tactics and its successfulness at these interventions. A topic of the next chapter is a description and an analysis of the problems accompanying the closure of Czech universities, with which the Protectorate government was also forced to deal. Among them there were for example a placement of the students, who were not jailed but prevented from continuing in their studies and whom the Protectorate government strove to protect...

The researched polemics originated in the territory of the Kingdom of Bohemia and the March of Moravia between 1437-1500. The Strakonice league in the struggle over power in the Kingdom of Bohemia in the middle of the 15th century
Pátý, Lukáš ; Bobková, Lenka (advisor) ; Zilynská, Blanka (referee)
This thesis concerns the Strakonice league, an association of largely Catholic estates of 1449. It tries to conceive the topic in another way, than the older literature did, which did not pay attention to the Strakonice league not specially, but dealed with it mostly in the frame of the description of Bohemian political and military history. The thesis tries to bring new pieces of knowledge of the Strakonice league by means of analyse of correspondence of the lords of Rosenberg (Rožmberk) and of another sources. Concerning the course of the military and diplomatic struggle with the Poděbrady league itself, the emphasis is put on selected, less known aspects. The relation of the Strakonice league to the lands adjoining the Czech crown and to foreign countries, where the league was looking for allies, is elaborated separately. The last big section of the thesis concerns the league members. This section is based on collecting of data about individual persons or towns that entered the Strakonice league. There are studied their political career, motivation for their entrance into the league, possesion and their relations to each other. It all gives evidence about the rate of force and compactness of the league. The results of league's activity and the next assertion of the members in public life are...

Litomyšl of Albert from Šternberk
Večeře, Vojtěch ; Zilynská, Blanka (advisor) ; Hledíková, Zdenka (referee)
The medieval study Litomyšl of Albert from Šternberk is a fusion of two historiographical methods. Regionally-historical and biographical. These methods lead to the unusual view of this issue, which had already been established in literature. This paper focuses mainly on the history of bishopric in Litomyšl and its center (town and domain). The author tries to look at this topic through Albert from Šternberk, who was an important imperial prelate-diplomat and also a bishop of Litomyšl during years 1364-1368 and 1371-1380. In order to maintain a complexity of this topic, it is essential to focus on both Alberts live and genesis of young Litomyšl diocese. For this reason the first part of the study is an analysis of emergence and formation of bishopric in Litomyšl, which is followed by a comprehensive study of Albert's political live. Than, the author gets to the very issue of the relationship between the monitored prelate and his Litomyšl dioceses and he tries to look at this relationship from several different perspectives. The reason for using this approach is an effort to speak out against the persistent view, that Litomyšl bishops in the era of Karl IV. (mostly high-ranking politicans and officials) were just "titular" prelates without self-interest in the management of the bishopric. Through...

Václav Rosa's writings as source for cognition of religious situation in the first half of the 16th century
Francová, Marie ; Zilynská, Blanka (advisor) ; Zdichynec, Jan (referee)
This thesis is based on Václav Rosa's writings, who was utraquist priest and lived on different parsonages between 1516 and 1560. Writings give information about his itinerary (places and period of his stay), circumstances each of utraquist parsonages with consideration to personal and property, permits pursue relationship between parish clergy and utraquist consistory and between parish clergy and local protectors. Moreover writings contain reflection of politics events, which happened in Prague and in nationwide level (1524, 1547). The analysis of major source was refilled of pursuing wider contexts with consideration to other sources, especially to Bartoš Písař's chronicle and to Sixt z Ottersdorfu's writings. The eleboration of thesis concentrated to capture inner circumstances in utraquist church, to Rosa's description as man and priest. This probe of individual life of one utraquist priest should serve as case study, which approximates life conditions of non-catholic clergy.
