This paper will present the composition of bottom ash determined in samples obtained from MSWI plant in Prague. The samples were first screened into fractions of grain sizes 0–2 mm, 2–4 mm, 4–6 mm, 6–8 mm, 8–10 mm, 10–15 mm, 15–20 mm and >20 mm. Each fraction, with the exception of fines bellow 2 mm, is manually sorted into glass, ceramics, magnetic particles, non-ferrous metals, unburned organics and the residual mineral fraction. It was found that the bottom ash contains in average 15–20 % of glass, 2–4 % of ceramics, 15–20 % of magnetic metals and around 2 % of non-ferrous metals. These results show that the bottom ash from in the Czech Republic is not significantly different from other European countries and has the potential for material recovery.

Fuel-energy Properties of Stabilized Sewage Sludge
Pohořelý, Michael ; Durda, Tomáš ; Moško, Jaroslav ; Šyc, Michal ; Kameníková, Petra ; Zach, Boleslav ; Svoboda, Karel ; Hartman, Miloslav ; Beňo, Z. ; Parschová, H. ; Houdková, L. ; Punčochář, Miroslav
The paper summarizes significant fuel-energy and physico-chemical properties of stabilized sewage sludge. Sewage sludge as a fuel is characterized by high proportions of water content, volatile matter content, ash content and a considerable amount of reactive, organic nitrogen (2-5 wt. % of dry matter). In addition to oxygen; silicon, phosphorus, aluminum, iron and calcium are the most abundant elements in the ash from the sludge. The lower calorific value of dry, anaerobically stabilized sewage sludge is 9-12 MJ kg-1 and it corresponds to a low calorific value of lower-class subbituminous coal or lignite.

Phosphorus Recovery from Sewage Sludge Ash
Šyc, Michal ; Kameníková, Petra ; Kruml, Matěj ; Sobek, Jiří ; Pohořelý, Michael ; Svoboda, Karel ; Punčochář, Miroslav
Sewage sludge from wastewater treatment contains significant amount of phosphorus. Phosphorus recovery from secondary sources is nowadays increasing in its significance due to high consumption and rising price. The paper presents suitable methods for phosphorus recovery from wastewater, sewage sludge and sewage sludge ash. The preliminary results of lab-scale experiments on sewage sludge ash microwave enhanced thermochemical treatment are presented as well.

Recovery of Valuable Components from MSWI Bottom Ash
Šyc, Michal ; Kameníková, Petra ; Krausová, A. ; Baloch, T. ; Zach, Boleslav ; Pohořelý, Michael ; Svoboda, Karel ; Punčochář, Miroslav
Municipal solid waste incineration bottom ash contains wide range of valuable components, like ferrous and non-ferrous metals, rare earth elements, glass, ceramics and minerals for construction industry. The composition of bottom ash corresponds to incinerated waste composition and it is variable with respect to plant locality and season. The paper summarizes suitable methods for recovery of valuable components and presents the composition of bottom ash from ZEVO Malešice.

Durda, Tomáš ; Pohořelý, Michael ; Šyc, Michal ; Svoboda, Karel ; Kameníková, Petra ; Krček, Martin ; Tošnarová, Markéta ; Moško, Jaroslav ; Punčochář, Miroslav
In the report, it has been shown how to effectively burn pretreated cornstalks in the fluidized-bed reactor with a stationary bubbling bed in the presence of a significant proportion of potassium.
Storing, Transporting and Pre-treating of Contaminated Biomass
Tlustoš, P. ; Száková, J. ; Zárubová, P. ; Břendová, K. ; Habart, J. ; Punčochář, Miroslav ; Šyc, Michal
The proposed technology is a unique method evaluating decrease of risk element release into environment while the contaminated biomass is transported, stored and pre-treated. This biomass was produced on phytoextraction plantations for further energetic purposes.

Influence of Oxygen Partial Pressure in the Combustion Atmosphere on the Emissions and Efficiency of the Fluidized-Bed Incineration of Corn Straw
Durda, Tomáš ; Pohořelý, Michael ; Šyc, Michal ; Svoboda, Karel ; Kameníková, Petra ; Jeremiáš, Michal ; Punčochář, Miroslav
This experimental study is focused on the corn straw incineration in a bubbling fluidized-bed reactor. The aim of this study is to compare the influence of oxygen partial pressure in the combustion atmosphere on the efficiency of the combustion process, and the emissions of undesirable pollutants (CO, NOx, SO2, N2O, and dust). The efficiency of the combustion process is compared on the basis of chemical unburned carbon (concentration of CO in the exhaust gas) and mechanical unburned particles (content of carbon in the solid form).
