Consumer Protection and its heading in the Czech Republic and the European Union

Consumer protection is currently widely discused from many points of view. Not only on national level, but on European level the consumers must face various problems and complications as well. This kind of complications discourage them from further consumption, which is not desired in the current economic situation. This is the reason for taking measures and there are attempts to improve the situation on the european market. One of these attempts is a proposal for a regulativ of the European parliament and of the European Council on a Common European Sales Law. Further impulses are given to the consumer protection from consumers organisations. The most important information comes from consumers directly. This thesis is devoted not only to the activity of consumers organisations and to the initiatives of consumers but also to the effort of European Union to increasing transparency of european market for the consumers.
Ecology and law

The thesis deals with the relationship between ecology and law in nuclear energy and the possible impact on the environment. The first part briefly summarizes the most important historical approaches to ecology and describes environmental law in the Czech Republic and the EU. The next section is focused on law in the area of construction and operation of nuclear power plants in the Czech Republic and the EU. The fourth chapter deals with operation of nuclear power plant Temelín and assessment the legislation. The fifth chapter is dedicated to various forms of longstanding conflict between the Czech Republic and Austria.
The legislation of the distance contracts according to the new directive on consumer rights

Consumer protection is one of the major areas that The European Union focused on in recent years. With regard to the developement in technical communication the distance contracts became more important. This diploma thesis is focused on the distance contracts and the aim is to introduce and compare the legislation of the distance contratcts according to the previous directive 97/7/EC on the protection of consumers in respect of distance contracts and the new directive 2011/83/EU on consumer rights. The diploma thesis introduce shortages of the previous directive, reasons for creation the new directive and changes setting up by the new one. The diploma thesis also analyses chosen judgements of The Court of Justice of the European Union relating to the directive 97/7/ES.
Legal policy of genetically modified organisms and Consumer Protection

This Bachelor thesis is focused on genetic engineering and its results. The aim is to familiarize the reader with the issue of biotechnology and its products, which are genetically modified organisms. The introduction of the work explains the basic concepts and describes the history of the biotechnology and genetic modifications in general. In this part are also listed examples of genetic modifications including information about testing and practical application in the Czech Republic. This scientific branch is in the very beginning and there are still ongoing series of programs and research in order to create new plants and animals. The second chapter briefly summarizes the positive and negative aspects of the use of genetic modification. The third chapter is focused on the legal regulation of this issue. The first subsection summarizes the Czech legislation, the second one summarizes European legislative shared by member states of the EU. Fundamental international organisations which are dealing with genetic engineering are not omitted in following subsection. Some international agreements are also mentioned. The last, it means fourth, chapter focuses on the consumers, not only as an object of the protection by government and international organisations, but also in terms of their attitude to genetically modified organisms used in the production process of food intended for the market. Subsections describe the issues of labelling GM-products and lack of awareness of people, they mention movements and non-profit organisations fighting against using GMOs in the products intended for human consumption and their use in general. This issue is connected with many risks including possible side-effects on human health. This section also describes general attitude of the consumers themselves to GM-products.
Consumer Protection in the Area of Food

The purpose of this bachelor's thesis is to analyse the legal regulations relating to protection of consumers in the area of food and compliance with these standards. The aim of this thesis is to discover whether the legislation in that area is really being complied and at what level the consumer protection in the area of food is in the Czech Republic. The text of this work is divided into two major parts. The first part is dedicated to defining the legal requirements for protection of the food consumers. The second part is focused on the results of the survey which was aiming to reveal what the consumer protection in the area of food on the shelves of food chains actually looks like.

The main goal of this thesis is to make a comprehensive survey for a reader about function of the public auctions of the real estates. Basic terms, requisites and documents connected with public auctions of the real estate are included. It covers voluntary and involuntary public auctions. This bachelor's thesis also mentions advantages and disadvantages of this auctions and machinations occurring during the public auctions.
Internet Auction and its Legal Aspects

This work is focused on analyzing of internet auctions. The thesis is divided into two major parts. The first part deals with introduction to auctions including definition, historical overview and description of the most used types. The second part is focused on the relation of the internet auctions to different branches of law. The aim of this thesis is to give a comprehensive overview about the internet auctions, especially in the Czech Republic, mainly from the law-related perspective. It should offer the basic facts about this issue and possible solutions for improvement of legal regulation of this process of buying and selling goods or services.
Legal issues of providing bank credits

The main objective of this thesis is to map and analyze the legislation that relates to each question of the whole process of providing bank credits, and state the most important changes. The work is divided into six chapters, where each chapter presents the area, which is related to providing of credits and includes analysis and explanation of its legislation. Emphasis is placed on new legislation of the Consumer Credit Act and more attention is also devoted to the exaction of debts and significant amendment of the Law on Arbitration and enforcement of arbitral awards.
Consumer protection in the area of ​​product safety with a focus on toys

This diploma thesis aims to describe the nature and specifics of product safety, as well as analyze the legal background of toys safety and discuss practical aspects related to the toy market. Based on these findings it aims to vindicate the following hypothesis: "Current toy market trends clearly linked with European integration, globalization and technological progress lead to a need to introduce increasingly stringent legislation that would regulate the negative consequences of these trends." The diploma thesis is divided into three parts. The first part describes the theoretical basis of consumer protection in the Czech Republic and the European Union. Sources of legal regulation of consumer law, basic terminology as well as consumer organizations and institutions active in this area are described. The second part deals with the regulation of product safety, while an analysis of three major legislations affecting the product safety is carried out. The third part of this diploma thesis is crucial, while it characterizes the term "toy", analyzes legislation governing toys safety and contains comparison of the current and already invalid Government Regulation on technical requirements for toys. Specific aspects of the toy industry and its current trends are discussed as well as systematic intervention of responsible bodies in case when a dangerous toy is launched.
Liability of the statutory body in the field of criminal law

The bachelor thesis "Liability of the statutory body in the field of criminal law" deals with the characteristics of criminal liability of statutory body in current legal regulations (May 2012). The aim of this thesis is to provide overall information about criminal liability of statutory body. The thesis is divided into six chapters. The first one deals with the legal liability in general. The second chapter describes criminal liability. The following chapters characterize the position of the statutory body in criminal law and criminal liability of persons acting on behalf of legal entity. The last chapter focuses on potential offences of members of statutory body and analyses one of them.
