Tourism competitiveness in regions of France

Diploma thesis deals with tourism and its competitiveness in selected regions of France. The main aim of the thesis is to identify the main aspects of regional tourism competitiveness. The selected regions are Basse-Normandie, Bretagne, Chamagne-Ardenne, Pays de la Loire, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur and Rhône-Alpes. The theoretical part is devoted to the importance of the position of tourism in terms of economics, society and regional development. Thesis also explains the concept of tourism competitiveness and its associated attributes such as comparative and competitive advantage. In detail various indicators of competitiveness of the WEF methodology are described. In the practical part there is defined set of indicators which can be used to measure the competitiveness of the tourism sector in regions. Indicators are based on publicly available data of selected regions. With using these indicators it is calculated tourism competitiveness index for each region. Final comparison shows that the most competitive tourism has region Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. On the contrary, the least competitive tourism is in region Champagne-Ardenne. Five fundamental aspects of tourism development are defined, based on the results obtained. In conclusion, diploma thesis confirms direct relationship between the level of the index and incoming tourism in selected French regions. With respect to the defined set of indicators of tourism competitiveness the possibility of its use also within regions in other European countries it is offered.
Evaluation of a state of rural business and motivational factors for its formation in the microregion Sedlčansko

This Master thesis is based on empirical research of entrepreneurial subjects located in microregion Sedlčany which searches and evaluates the impacts of rural entrepreneurship in this region. Rural entrepreneurship has gone through changes. In comparison to its past, these changes have reflected the growing importance of non-agricultural subjects in countryside. Theoretical part presents a view into general way-outs to define a countryside and rural business. In addition, practical part pays attention to analysis of specific impacts of companies in this limited region. For instance, it brings us critical knowledge about cooperative networking, targeted markets, positive and negative factors which may influence local businesses. A component of this analysis is also an attempt to find and define motivating factors for migration in this monitored area.
Sustainable development of tourism in the Pilsen region

This thesis is concerned with sustainable development of tourism in the Pilsen region. The aim is to assess the current status of tourism and its sustainable development in the Pilsen region. The theoretical part defines the basic terms related to the issue of sustainable development and sustainable development of tourism. Besides it focuses on the role of some international and national institutions in this field. In the practical part the monitored area is described with an emphasis on the conditions for the development of tourism and its sustainability. Then the assessment of sustainable tourism by selected indicators is made. Finally the overall evaluation is reported and some measures to promote sustainable tourism development are suggested.
Modern approaches to the city development planning and conceptions

The thesis introduces chosen initiatives that reflect the changing atmosphere and social values of population in the economically well-developed part of the world. The change in the social values is a consequence of deepening socio-cultural and economic interdependence of the regions and the cities in the globalised world. Main presumptions of successful implementation of the initiatives are analysed in order to confront it with the environment of the Czech cities. The main objective of the thesis is an evaluation of the readiness for the usage of these new initiatives in the current Czech city development. There is a visible change in social values among the Czech population under way, however that is typical for its hedonic character. Most of the presumptions are more or less fulfilled with the regional differences. Some of the initiatives have even already been successfully implemented with the positive impact on the environment. Therefore further involvement of similar initiatives could be expected in the future.
Economy of Region in the Czech Republic and the continuity to finance for regional development , specified for example Usti Region

The aim of the thesis is an analysis of regional economic development and funding opportunities of the region. The work is focused on the evaluation of the management of the Ústí Region in the years 2004-2013, mainly on the expenditure pattern of the region, development expenditure to finance the development of the region and promote regional development.
Quality management as a tool for improving the efficiency of municipalities

The aim of this thesis is to define methods and techniques of quality management as a tool for improving the efficiency of municipalities. The theoretical part deals with the concept of quality and its management, the European Union's attitude and the basic methods of quality management in municipalities. Especially, the method of the Common Assessment Framework (CAF) is discussed. Finally, the theoretical background characterizes the town of Sušice, its activity and the functional composition of the municipal authority in Sušice. In the practical part, the CAF model is implemented into the municipal authority in Sušice. It provides a report describing the results of self-assessment, information about the evaluation team, procedures and forms of assessment, and responses to the questions of the CAF model. The outcome includes the evaluation of individual criteria, the summary of results using the SWOT analysis and a draft of the improvement plan.
Multiple source financing of social services

The aim of the thesis is to consider in which extent can be used a multiple sources financing of social services in the Czech republic. The aging of the population not only in the Czech Republic, but also throughout Europe signify increasing demand for social services and increase of their financial demands. Therefore, it is necessary to look for new ways of financig these services from sources outside the public budgets. In this respekt is also important the cooperation between the public sector, non-profit sector and private sector, which make the providing of social services more effective. The results of this work show that participation in the providing of social services is curently inadeguately used in the Czech Republic and the search for new sources for financing still has great potential for its development.
Opportunities to develop the social economy and social enterprise

Diploma thesis focuses on the social economy and social entrepreneurship. Its aim is to identify possible directions of further development of the social economy in the Czech Republic. The starting point for this work is the assumption that successful development of social entrepreneurship is dependent on access to financial resources, a good legislative definition and availability of the necessary information. The operational objective is to analyze the range of financial instruments available to social enterprises. The work is divided into several parts. The first chapter summarizes the historical development of the social economy in Western European countries and subsequently in the Czech Republic. The next chapter presents the approaches to the concept of social economy from the perspective of several European institutions. The chapter is also a case of good practice from Italy. The following chapter, in which are presented the main theoretical approaches to the social economy in the Czech Republic. In the analytical part of the work are first defined problem areas of social entrepreneurship, it is also stated range of financial instruments available to social enterprises and subsequently defined possible directions of further development of the social economy.
Development of Rakovnicko and support of business partnership throughout the microregion.

The presented thesis deals with the development of microregion Rakovnicko with regard to the area of tourism. The main objective of the study was to find out what kind of options has the surveyed region for supporting business activities in the field of tourism. The operational objective was to describe the limits of business development in this area. The objectives were obtained through analysis of the state of particular business support tools. The analysis covered the past and the current state of support tools, and the final conclusion was drawn within each of them.
IMPORTANCE OF TOWN-TWINNING ON THE EXAMPLE OF SELECTED TOWNS IN THE CENTRAL BOHEMIA REGION

This Bachelor thesis is focused on a cooperation of towns with an emphasis on international cooperation through the town-twinning. The first part analyzes the theoretical framework and objectives of cooperation, the legislation and possibilities of financing. In the second part the thesis focuses on three particular towns in Central Bohemia Region - Beroun, Černošice and Dobřichovice - and examines cooperation in reality. At the end the work compares the two previous parts. Here, the thesis focuses on the reality of financing -- it was found to be (due to difficulties with applications for finances) better to rely on towns' own sources -- and also answers the key questions that proves undeniable importance of this form of cooperation: it is advantageous for all participating towns and they are able to fulfill theoretical goals in reality.
