The use of potentiometry for elucidation of health damage after application of lime scale removers
Šenholdová, Z. ; Navrátil, Tomáš ; Říčařová, B. ; Rakovcová, H.
The contribution deals with elucidation of possible fallouts of accidental ingestion of limescale removers. The research was divided into: 1) Recherché of limescale remover ingestions in years 2000-2006 according to the telephone calls to the Czech Toxicological Information Centre 2) Experiments realized to get reliable comparable parameters of the common commercial and chemical agents used for limescale removing in the Czech Republic. Their titratable acid reserves (TAR) and pH changes were followed.
Composite solid amalgam electrodes
Lukina, A. ; Josypčuk, Bohdan ; Navrátil, Tomáš ; Pecková, K. ; Barek, J.
Preparation and first results achieved by composite silver solid amalgam electrodes (AgSA-CE) are presented. Polished, film as well as mercury meniscus modifications of these electrodes were studied by determination of p-nitrophenol, lead, cadmium, iodades, adenine, ascorbic acid and other compounds.
Determination of herbicide dinoseb with amalgam and carbon electrodes
Fischer, J. ; Barek, J. ; Pecková, K. ; Zima, J. ; Kücükkolbasi, S. ; Ersöz, M. ; Kara, H. ; Josypčuk, Bohdan ; Navrátil, Tomáš
Dinoseb, systematically 2-(1-methylpropyl)-4,6-dinitro-phenol, is phenolic, commonly used herbicide and insecticide. Dinoseb has two very easy reducible nitro-groups in its structure and one electrochemically oxidizable hydroxy group. Differential pulse voltammetry was applied for its determination in water. The nitro group reduction was used for voltammetric determination with hanging mercury electrode (HMDE), mercury film electrode (MFE) and modified carbon paste electrode (MCPE) and carbon paste electrode (CPE) as well as meniscus modified silver solid amalgam electrode (m-AgSAE).
Electrochemical study of the effect of long-term creatine supplementation creatine on human metabolism
Šenholdová, Z. ; Navrátil, Tomáš ; Heyrovský, Michael ; Pelclová, D.
The volunteers were supplemented in time interval of one month by creatine. Body parameters (mass, height, intra- and extracellular water content etc.), levels of vitamins and a few other compounds in urine and in blood (vitamine B12, homocysteine, thiodiglycolic acid, creatine, creatinine etc.) were followed. The corresponding metabolic processes are studied.
Mercury Speciation Analysis on Model Samples
Rohovec, Jan ; Hojdová, Maria ; Navrátil, Tomáš
Mercury speciation on model samples of iron oxyhydroxides, aluminum oxyhydroxides and layered materials (montmorillonite) was studied using ICP-EOS-TD technique. The TD curves obtainedare used for interpretation of data measured on real samples.
Mercury speciation in forest soils
Hojdová, Maria ; Rohovec, Jan ; Navrátil, Tomáš
We compared distribution of Hg in soil profiles with different level of Hg content in forest floor humus. Detailed study of soil profiles revealed that at the locality with lower Hg content in humus was higher Hg content in mineral horizons in comparison to locality with higher content in organic horizons. Most of the Hg in forest soils was bound to organic matter.
Vliv kreatinu aplikovaného jako potravinový doplněk na exkreci homocysteinu do krve a kyseliny thiodiglykolové do moře
Přistoupilová, K. ; Navrátil, Tomáš ; Šenholdová, Z. ; Přistoupil, T. I. ; Heyrovský, Michael ; Kohlíková, E. ; Petr, M. ; Pelclová, D.
Single-dose food supplementation of creatine (5 g of creatine per day), commonly used by sportsmen, affects their metabolism of thiocompounds and of some compounds in blood and in urine, the metabolism of which is connected with the synthesis of creatine or with its usage in the body. In blood the levels of folates, vitamin B12, homocysteine, triacylglycerols, total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol and HDL cholesterol, uric acid, cortizol, and testosterone were followed. In urine the changes in levels of creatine, creatinine, thiodiglycolic acid (TDGA), and pH were followed. The results were accomplished by data of bioimpedance measurements (body mass, muscle mass, body fat, intra- and extracellular fluids, total body water content, protein content, fitness score). It was found that according to the changes in creatine levels before and after administration of creatine in course of one month, it was possible to divide the subjects under study into four groups.
Vliv kreatinu na koordinaci močovinového a citrátového cyklu
Kohlíková, E. ; Petr, M. ; Navrátil, Tomáš ; Šenholdová, Z. ; Přistoupilová, K. ; Přistoupil, T. I. ; Heyrovský, Michael ; Pelclová, D.
Creatine is recommended to be administered as food supplement, which should fortify its natural formation. It is supposed that human organism utilizes this compound for creatine phosphate formation, which is necessary for energy supplementation for muscular work. It was shown that the metabolic ways are more complicated than had been supposed. The changes in thiodiglycolic acid (TDGA) excretion into urine proved that application of creatine affects the metabolism of thiocompounds and two-carbon units, i.e., levels of homocysteine and glycine in blood, and of TDGA in urine. From our results, obtained in experiments with a group of 11 young men, who were supplemented by creatine for one month, it was confirmed that the dependence interrelationship among thiocompounds, vitamin B12, folates, cholesterol, and other complex is more complicated than had been supposed. For better understanding of the role of creatine in general metabolism, ...
Characteristics of solid amalgam electrodes different from HMDE
Josypčuk, Bohdan ; Navrátil, Tomáš
In the contribution are shown the results of experiments realized with solid amalgam electrodes containing, apart from mercury, also Ag, Cu, Ir, Au, Bi, or Cd. These results differ from those obtained with the hanging mercury drop electrode (HMDE). In some cases the solid amalgam electrodes enable the study of properties of compounds, which can not be observed on HMDE, usually due to the anodic dissolution of mercury. Anodic stripping voltammetry of Zn(II), Cd(II), Pb(II), Cu(II), and Fe(III), cathodic stripping voltammetry of adenine, guanine, phytochelatins, sulfides, and catalytic processes in presence of hydrogen peroxide, alcohols and Os-modified DNA, were studied with the working amalgam electrodes.
