From Juno to Sequence 2
Svobodová, Veronika ; SMOLÍK, Robert (advisor) ; TÄUBELOVÁ, Kristýna (referee)
During my bachelor studies I had opportunity to become an author of three inter-connected creative projects and to work on their gradual development. The main principle of these projects lied in an approach of working with kinetic and light objects in a way that classical wooden puppet is used. Final form of the bachelor work as well as content of projects is based on my individual understanding of theatre. It can be described as the author´s experimentation in the border between theatre and visual arts. In the first part of the bachelor work a brief historical overview is presented. The main point is to stress important incentives that I follow in my own performances. Particular focus is put on activities of contemporary Czech artist Petr Nikl and his theatre Mehedaha. The second part of the work describes creation and subsequent processes of three performances: The Peacock Complaining To Juno, Sequence 1 and Sequence 2. The conclusion at the end of the work summarizes all my experiences and findings. Illustrated appendix offers the opportunity to make a comparison between performances by looking at photographs taken during the show. There is also a CD with video record of Sequence 1 and a Sequence 2 attached.
Theatre in Open Space
Štěpán, Jakub ; ŽIŽKA, Tomáš (advisor) ; TÄUBELOVÁ, Kristýna (referee)
In bachelor work I am presenting four theatre projects, they have one thing in common that being open space or open air. I am also looking for more things which connect my other projects which I also did at school. I am making a dictionary of foreign words and terms which are related to work in open space. Most of my work is set outside, I like to look for new locations and building my visions beyond the theater stage. Film and this world is another link to my work, I like to use film editing and visuals as a part of theater dramaturgy. Traveling (migrating) as an art style, is another link to my work, there is a lot of new technology and more when you searching and looking in other countries and meeting new people in industry.

The diploma thesis focuses on a search of using puppets possibilities of Movement Theater and on study of the Czech and Japanese puppet tradition. It is divided into two main parts. The first part summarizes the theoretical knowledge of the importance of puppets and Puppet Theater in the Czech and Japanese culture. The second part describes the Red Dream Červený sen performance formation accompanied by stage design proposals, costumes and puppets. The chapter concerning traditional Japanese Puppet Theater explains Japanese mentality and philosophy and religion influences. From the Czech Movement Theater the phenomenon of Cirque Nouveau is described. There is also a comparison between the Japanese and Czech approach of using puppets. From the knowledge of both cultures come sources of mutual inspiration. The story concentrates on powerful women's emotions in three acts: desire for love, the desire for beauty and desire for power. The main roles of three women in critical life situations are Caren from the story of Hans Christian Andersen The Red Shoes, Yaoya Oshichi from the Japanese legend of disappointed love and Lady Macbeth from William Shakespeare's tragedy. To be Alice
Stránská, Marianna ; Kalfus, Pavel (advisor) ; Täubelová, Kristýna (referee)
The inscenators have no ambition to illustrate the original text literally, but to do their best in offering to spectators a journey into the land of fantasy so wonderfully inspired by the original text. Or - at least - to show the way how to get inspired by. The B.A. presentation (To be Alice) works with such themes as: imagination, childhood experiences, remembrances, associations, with memory, with space and objects, but first of all it is focussed towards the spectator himself. The presentation seeks ways how to activate the spectators´s imagination and how to work with it, to use it. The B.A. work is of three parts: A. Introduction - how the idea was born, and the script of the performance B. Theory - common definitions of mentioned notions C. Practise - the analysis of the author´s performance Kabaret luknja
An Object in a Dancing Performance
Koníčková, Tereza ; Kalfus, Pavel (advisor) ; Täubelová, Kristýna (advisor) ; Tománek, Alois (referee)
This work relates to the play which is called Mirar mucho tiempo tus valles. The production originated in London in 2009 during my exchange studies at Rose Bruford College in cooperation with a Spanish group of my exchange colleagues as actors and a director. The main topic of my essay is an object in a dancing performance. The piece deals with distorted relations of four characters who are intertwined to each other. This production has become for all of us an experiment of actions. It has been for me an experience with space and objects on the stage. I consider this to be the most interesting and inspiring project I have ever done so far. With this experience I have found another ways for my future work as a stage designer.

Author Work and Creative Meaning of Material
Benešová, Tereza ; Kalfus, Pavel (advisor) ; Täubelová, Kristýna (advisor) ; Smolík, Robert (referee)
As a part of DAMU studies I participated on several various projects as a designer and a performer. Although they were different in many respects, in most of them was possible, and I think even appropriate, to use original work with material as an important source of inspiration. This has been the case in case of stage design for the performance Three months' Vacation, which is the practical part of my thesis. The first part of the text includes introduction to the topic of production of Three months' Vacation and a more detailed explanation of its creative solution. The second part deals with creative meaning of material with regard to other projects, which I took part in within study of scenography at the Department of alternative and puppet theater of DAMU and which are related to the topic.
