Poems on walls. Poetry in public space
Chlumová, Jitka ; Krol, Ellen Jacoba (advisor) ; Sedláčková, Lucie (referee)
In the last years placing of poems in public space has become popular in the Netherlands. The poems are to be found in the cities, mainly on the walls and in the pavements, as well as in the nature. They are specific form of poetry which was not described thoroughly so far. This thesis describes the phenomenon (for which the term wallpoems is used) from three different points of view: it is poetical object by itself, part of the city as a social space and part of literature. (1) The wallpoem is poetical object in which the interaction is very strong between the text and the medium. The interpretation of the poem is strongly influenced by used material (bricks, stone, glas, metal), typography and location (wall, pavement, nature). The location has own social cultural context that influences the perception. Thanks to the unusual placing outside of any book the poems can be seen by another public. Very important is for the reader the surprise and unexpectedness of such a meeting with poetry. (2) The wallpoem is part of the city space. The most poems are part of organised projects which also influences their perception. Some of them have common theme or background idea given by the initiators. These projects can represent particular aspects of the city or create an image of it. Such image is meant as...
Literary analysis of the novel De Gevarendriehoek of A.F.Th. van der Heijden
Bubák, Jan ; Krijtová, Olga (referee) ; Krol, Ellen Jacoba (advisor)
The literary analysis ofthe novel De gevarendriehoek of Adrianus Franciscus van der Heijden is concentrated on the most significant features ofthis work. This is above all the symbolic sphere that enriches the realistic character of the work. It creates an additional dimension which opens a specific field for interpretation of the philosophical meaning of this work. The analysis is made using the structural method. The language elements are subject to systemizing and classification with the aim to find out their attributes. These semantic attributes determine the function for reader' s apprehension. Following the structural pattem, these attributes are divided into the chapters: time, space, the attitude of the narrator an the motivic analysis. The main vehicle for the symbolic meaning is the motif. The system of motifs consits ofthe story-motifs that are superordinated by abstract-motifs. These constitute the main motif - a fundament for the interpretation. The exploration of motivic system constitutes the core ofmy thesis.A special category represents Van der Heijden's concept of living in the breadth - a way of experiencing the real time as a unique t:;temal moment. The result ofmy analysis was a discovery ofthe principal motivic features - the time and the fear. These two basic principles guide the...

The motif "Lucifer" in the novel Lucifer by Connie Palmen
Zikmundová, Markéta ; Sedláčková, Lucie (referee) ; Krol, Ellen Jacoba (advisor)
My final thesis The motif of 'Lucifer' in the novel Lucifer by Connie Palmen discusses two important Dutch literary works: the tragedy Lucifer by Joost van den Vondel (1654) and the novel Lucifer by Connie Palmen (2007). Vondel's tragedy is inspired by the Book of Genesis. According to some particular interpretations of the Bible the angel Lucifer organised a rebellion against God after hearing about creation of mankind. He considered humans as a threat for both heaven and the angels living in there. He believed that through the birth of humans the given order in heaven could have been disturbed. This fatal mistake led to a division of the angels and resulted in an immense battle in which Lucifer and his followers were defeated. As a result Lucifer was expelled from heaven. As revenge he managed to manipulate Eve in the Eden into eating the forbidden fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. The main character of this famous tragedy, Lucifer, inspired Connie Palmen to write a novel with a structure of a classical, Aristotle tragedy. She was also inspired by many Dutch celebrities and important events starting in the sixties, at latest in the nineties in Amsterdam. Her novel is therefore not only a great thriller and detective story (the wife of the main character perished under mysterious...
Literary analysis of the book De Taal Der Liefde by Gerard Kornelis van het Reve
Hořejší, Kateřina ; Sedláčková, Lucie (referee) ; Krol, Ellen Jacoba (advisor)
The topic of my thesis is the book De Taal Der Liefde by Gerard Kornelis van het Reve. I worked with the version, in which there is the chapter De Brieven Aan Een Kunstbroeder. That means that I used the edition of De Taal Der Liefde, Athenaeum - Polak & Van Gennep, Amsterdam 1972, 1st edition published in February 1972. my original plan was to write about The Love Trilogy, that means De Taal Der Liefde (1972), Lieve jongens (1973) and Het Lieve Leven (1974), but as I worked on, I realized that that topic is too wide and that this thesis does not allow me to write as extensively as I would have liked to, so I ended up analyzing just the one book. The reason why I chose this very book is the period in which it was written. The book can be placed into the fourth period of the writer's work, to the '70s, when he started writing in form of letters. This period is usually called the disharmonic romantic period. His language gets ceremonial and the form gets more attention. The form is one of the many reasons why this book is so interesting. As far as methodology of my work is concerned, I used the books by Erica van Boven and Gillis Dorleijn, Literair mechaniek. Inleiding tot de analyse van verhalen en gedichten, and the book by J.van Luxemburg, M.Bal en W.Weststeijn, Over literatuur. This analysis is an ergo-...
Literary analysis of Orchis militaris, a book by Ivo Michiels
Poláková, Jana ; Sedláčková, Lucie (referee) ; Krol, Ellen Jacoba (advisor)
A 'Type-ideal novel' (een 'idealtype van roman')', is according to the Flemish writer Ivo Michiels such a novel, 'that a film which can not be filmized of brought into the concrete milieu. It's a novel that does not want to compete with consumer industry, based on abundance of information, especially in the film.' (Janssens, 5) In the thesis Literary Analysis of Orchis militaris, a book by Ivo Michiels we have analysed how does a novel look like, written by an author of such a vision. The focus ov this thesis is the literary analysis of Orchis militaris (1968), which includes both formal and thematic analysis. Moreover, I integrated this book into the literary-historical context, which indicates the connection between this book and the Flemish, Dutch and world literature - especially important was the experimental literature of 50th and 60th and the French nouveau roman. During the research I managed to define the typical features of this work, a.o. the expanding sentences, almost forming a labyrinth, not censored inner monologue, very slow time, unclear boundaries between individuals and the images, the characters, which do not have any character - the only things we knoě about them, are the situations in which the characters are, there is no perspective of future or direction of movement, in the book is...

Tento proces se nejzretelneji projevuje v literature, a proto imagologové hovofi predevsim 0 textové konstrukci.
