Benefits and importance of financial resources of social entrepreneurship for nonprofit organizations

This diploma thesis is focused on the contribution and importance of financial resources of social entrepreneurship for nonprofit organizations. The main goal is to analyze the evolution of nonprofit organization's funding from Czech public funds and to identify benefits and importance of financial resources of social entrepreneurship for nonprofit organizations. The theoretical part brings description of financial resources for nonprofit organizations and explanation of social entrepreneurship concept and social enterprise definition. The research of diploma thesis brings the analysis of evolution of nonprofit organization's funding from Czech public funds from 1999 to 2009 and the identification of benefits, importance and share of financial resources of social entrepreneurship in specific nonprofit organization - Domov Sue Ryder, o.p.s. The identification of benefits and importance of financial resources of social entrepreneurship is based on the analysis of evolution of sources, costs and own revenues (sources) from 2001 to 2010 in selected nonprofit organization. The output of this diploma thesis is the evaluation of benefits and importance of financial resources of social entrepreneurship for nonprofit organizations.
Benefits of Cooperation of Mother Centres with the Municipalities: Mother Centres and their Part in the Creation of Civil Society.

This diploma thesis deals with the question of mother centres, their significance in civil society and evaluates the cooperation between mother centres and municipalities, in which these centres operate. This thesis includes definitions of concepts as family, role of the family, and status of women in the family. It describes the role of the state in relation to the families and family policy in specific region. In this diploma thesis is stated what the meaning of mother centres, how they are formed and how they influence civil society. Within the empirical part of the thesis I have tried to assess the activity of the selected mother centres, their promotion and their cooperation with the Network of the mother centres and their cooperation with the public sector institutions. This diploma thesis contains the results of investigation in the municipalities as well. In the conclusion of the thesis there is evaluation of the position of the mother centres in civil society. Changes of Intercultural Competence and the Image of Global Citizenship within Erasmus Graduates

Every year thanks to the Erasmus Programme hundreds of students spend a semester studying at a university abroad. In the Czech Republic available data cover only the number of student mobilities and of ECTS credits acquired, or show how the students were satisfied with their studies. The goal of the thesis is to find out whether, or how, the students' intercultural competence increased, how their view on citizenship changed, and how they perceive global citizenship. In the thesis, intercultural competence is measured purely quantitatively using the Multicultural Personality Questionnaire, citizenship is studied by the use of several open questions. Liberal model of citizenship is the most prominent among the students. As for global citizenship, the students' opinions vary. Most often, it was described as an affiliation to the Earth. Intercultural competence has not increased substantially in connection with the studies abroad. If not only academic development, but also increase in intercultural competence and development of responsible (global) citizens is to be achieved by studies abroad, students need to be better prepared for their stay.
Online Fundraising in the Czech Republic

This diploma thesis introduces the topic of online fundraising primarly based on foreign scholarly literature. The thesis focuses mostly on its tools, but it also presents ethical rules or evaluation. The goal of the diploma thesis after introduction this topic to the czech public is to analyse the half-structured questionnaire and identify successful organizations. In addition to that, the aim of the research is to discover the application of key success factors of online fundraising among identified successful organizations, which are at the end supplemented by inspirations and recommendations from czech NGOs.
Civil Association as a Tool of Cultural Heritage Protection

The dissertation is dealing with opportunities which are available for non-for profit organizations in the field of cultural heritage protection. The example being studied is the farmhouse Bulovka, which is a protected cultural heritage site located in the district of Prague 5. The dissertation is divided into theoretical and empirical parts. The theoretical part describes the main points of cultural protection theory and gives a short introduction into the history of farmhouses in Prague. It also describes the basic concepts of civil society. The empirical part is mapping the legal background of cultural heritage protection by introducing the laws which are currently used in this field. The crucial part compares various civil society organizations and assesses their ability to effectively protect the farmhouse Bulovka. The main criteria are an ability to apply for the grants offered by various foundations and other institutions. As a result, a list of available funding programs for cultural heritage protection is presented, which can be used for the protection of the farmhouse Bulovka.
Volunteering of young people motivation and barriers

Volunteering is an important subject in today's society. The society as well as the volunteers themselves profit from volunteering. This thesis handles the topic of young people and volunteering. It deals with the opinion of young people about volunteering as well as with the motivations and barriers young people have in connection to volunteering. There has been a qualitative research conducted within this thesis. The method of focus group was used for it. Young people between 16 and 19 years were the target group of the research. Besides motivation and barriers it focused as well on the channels through which people get information about volunteering. There are recommendations concerning the promotion of volunteering between young people in the final part of the thesis. Those conclusions are aimed mainly for the European Year of Volunteering 2011.

This graduation thesis is focused on Following the Principle of Local impact in projects focused on Social Enterprising. First chapters bring theoretical concept of Social Economy and Social Enterprising subjects. Second part of the work contains project of research and analysis of information acquired from companies that participated in a research. The Local impact as a fundamental Principle of Social economy is described on the basis of respondent's answers concerning the communication and cooperation with stakeholders, using variety of local resources, satisfying local needs and participating in community planning.
Professional Chaplain Service in Czech Prison

This thesis is about prison chaplains in the Czech Republic. It focuses on the connection of their work with the civil society, motivation for their work, methods they use and difficulties they face. In additional it also deals with the role of churchmanship. The theoretical part of this work describes how the activity of prison chaplains is embedded in the legislature of the Czech Republic and their connection to the civil society through the non-governmental organization Vězeňská duchovenská péče (Prison spiritual ministry). In this part motivation from the psychological point of view is also described. From this part the specific analysis and observation of the motivation for social and pastoral activities, over confessional and ecumenical characteristic of the NGO Vězeňská duchovenská péče derives. The practical part of the thesis describes the research carried out with 17 prison chaplains from 11 prisons and its results. The motivation of prison chaplains relates to their goals. The major finding is that there is their intent to offer help and support to people that find themselves in very difficult situations: human help (closeness, giving an ear and encouragement), and spiritual help (sacraments and prayers).
