Business Intelligence in the Laboratory

The main objective of this diploma thesis is the implementation of a pilot solution of Business intelligence in the laboratory company. This company is providing tests of samples of blood and urine. The diploma thesis is divided into two main parts. The first part contains theory. It describes the usage and components of the Business intelligence. Additionaly it describes the method Balanced scorecard and its usage in laboratory companies. The second part contains practical solution. At first there is a description of the company where is the solution implemented. In the next step the goals and metrics are determined on basis of the application of the method Balanced scorecard. The strategic map is created based on company goals. The last chapter contains a description of the implementation of the pilot solution and the description of created reports.

The economic impact of highway constructing

This paper analyzes the economic impact of the existence of the highway network at the regional GDP. The underlying assumption is the hypothesis that the highway impacted region has higher GDP compared to regions without highway network. It is assumed that we use a model which is adjusted for confounding influences. On the basis of data for the years 1995 -- 2010, using Difference in differences method, I form a model which measures the net effect of exogenous change. This change shows the influence of the highway network on the regional GDP of the Plzeň Region. The control group is the South Bohemian Region and I use the data from the two comparative periods before and after the construction of the motorway D5 in the Plzeň Region during the current lack of highways in South Bohemian region. It is shown that the affected Plzeň Region has higher GDP compared to the South Bohemian Region.

Creation of income, expenses and profit business

An analysis of revenues, expenses and economic income is the basic indicator of the economic situation in a company. This thesis focuses on the monitoring of these indicators. Revenues are all economic increases. All enterprises make efforts to achieve the highest increases. Costs represent the consumption of resources and labour work in financial terms. The goal of each company is to reduce this measure. The difference between total revenues and all expenses indicates the economic income of the company. The analysis took place in the company CIUR a.s. and monitored the period from 2005 to 2009. The positive economic profit was reported in all those years so obviously the management leads the company well.
