Robot Interaction with Virtual Objects
Fisla, Jakub ; Španěl, Michal (referee) ; Materna, Zdeněk (advisor)
The goal of this bachelor's thesis was to create an aplication for robotic operating system ROS, adding virtual objects to data provided by the robot sensors. The theoretical part analyses the simulation techniques which combine real measured data with virtually generated data and explore equipment for data reading. The thesis designs a structure of feasible solution the application with respect to ROS platform and describes the application implementation. Finally, the focus is on testing of the application and  thought about feasible extension this solution.
Interactive Interface for Robot Remote Control for Android
Podmolík, Leopold ; Materna, Zdeněk (referee) ; Španěl, Michal (advisor)
This work describes an application to control a robot running the Robotic Operation System (ROS) remotely using Android-based touch devices. The application was primarily designed for our experimental faculty robot - TB2. Designed user interface shows a video stream coming from the Kinect mounted on the robot and the current 2D map. The robot movement is controlled by a Street View like user interface while rotation of the robot in place is solved by speci c touch gestures on display.
Diagnostics of a Mobile Robot
Benček, Vladimír ; Beran, Vítězslav (referee) ; Materna, Zdeněk (advisor)
Early diagnostics and prediction of future conditions of robotic systems can minimize the costs for their maintenance. This thesis is focused on diagnostics and monitoring of monile robot TB2. It includes familiarisation with the robot, its operating system and describes the design and implementation of the diagnostic package, that analyses different robot parts and provides the information about them to the user.
Escape Motions: Flame Painter Extensions
Piovarči, Rastislav ; Materna, Zdeněk (referee) ; Španěl, Michal (advisor)
Main goal of this master´s thesis is to propose and implement improvements to an original purely raster version of Flame Painter editor. An enhancement of the undo/redo system with emphasise to its functionality and memory requirements has been implemented. Moreover, the editor was extended by adding an ability to edit brush strokes using vector primitives which effectively assist the user in future stroke editing. This project was created in cooperation with employees of the Escape Motions Company.
3D Model Reconstruction and Camera Localization
Vahalík, Tomáš ; Materna, Zdeněk (referee) ; Beran, Vítězslav (advisor)
This thesis focuses on reconstruction of 3D environment model from a set of photographs followed by camera localization. It describes basic principles and techniques used to create environmental models and techniques for camera pose estimation from 2D camera points to 3D model points. It also examines the influence of parameters on the quality of reconstruction and the possibilities of localization. It compares the quality of the descriptors in the process of creation of the model and based on localization it allows to implement augmented reality.
Interactive Interface for Robot Remote Control for Android
Robotka, Vojtěch ; Materna, Zdeněk (referee) ; Španěl, Michal (advisor)
The development of autonomous robots has made a significant progress and first personal robots for common use start to appear. To use this robots, we need to develop applications and user interfaces to interact with them. The goal of this project is to make a universal interface for robot remote control. This work focuses on robots based on the ROS platform. This gives the final application a potential of use on other robotic projetcs running on ROS. The designed remote interface accomplishes two main purposes. The first is to show important data in a context of a 3D scene to help user understand the state of the controlled robot. And the second goal is to allow the user execute some basic manipulation with the robot. The final application was successfully adapted and tested on experimental robots Care-O-Bot and Turtlebot.
Doors Opening for PR2
Senčuch, Daniel ; Materna, Zdeněk (referee) ; Kapinus, Michal (advisor)
This thesis aims to explore possibilities of door opening by the PR2 robotic platform based on information about the location and properties of the doors. This information must be obtained from another program that follows the protocol designed in this thesis. This thesis' effort should then produce a working program for the Robotic Operating System which - when run on the PR2 - is able to at least open doors in the direction from the robot and get the robot through them. The result has been successfully tested on the doors to the faculty robotic laboratory.
Automatic Text Recognition for Robots
Hartman, Zdeněk ; Materna, Zdeněk (referee) ; Španěl, Michal (advisor)
This bachelor thesis describe module design for text detection and recognition for use in robotic systems. To detect charters is used Stroke Width transform, which is applied on the input edge image. In the output image after Stroke Width transform are found connected components. For letter grouping into a words is used Hough transform, which is applied on the created binary image. This image contains points, which corresponding positions of found connected components. To recognize signs in detected areas is used Tesseract library. Before recognition detected areas are extracted and rotated into a horizontal position. This proposed detector can detect even rotated text.  Accuracy of detection of the text is 75% above the test set "informační tabule".
Robotic Mirror
Vopálenský, Radek ; Materna, Zdeněk (referee) ; Kapinus, Michal (advisor)
The aim of this work is to design and implement a module through which robotic platform PR2 repeated movements of a man standing before her. User's movement is sensed using Kinect and detected by monitoring skeletal model. The embedded module can control robotic head, robotic arms and move the base in all directions. The work describes all the technologies used, description and design solutions and test results.
Dialogue System for Human-Robot Communication
Birger, Mark ; Materna, Zdeněk (referee) ; Smrž, Pavel (advisor)
In this thesis a problematic of spoken dialog systems was discovered. The dialog system framework was developed for a fast implementation of spoken dialog interfaces for existing robotics software. This framework allows describing a dialog flow in special markup format, which allows scope variables manipulating and controlling a flow of general-purpose programming language software by user input phrase. Markup language is designed for asynchronous function execution and subsequent manipulations with them. It allows robot to solve tasks simultaneously. Developed framework uses Link Grammar Parser for natural language processing. With this framework was implemented a dialog system instance for PR2 robot control.
