Applets and physlets in physics education
Quittnerová, Lucia ; Lustigová, Zdena (advisor) ; Drozd, Zdeněk (referee) ; Rotter, Miloš (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with description, analysis and creation of physic applets called physlets. It includes overview of existing sources of applets and their comparison. Detailed table analysis informs about usability and quality of available physlets from different websites. Corresponding lesson plans to the chosen physlets on high school level are contained. I elaborated five worksheet of different level to the three chosen physlets. Some of them are attested on high school students. Softwares for creating physlets are compared according to accessibility, demandingness and usability. Diploma thesis contains instructions to create physlets using softwares Easy Java Simulation and Meta Builder. I published a manual for Easy Java Simulation on the server moodle.cz. Corresponding website informs about the whole diploma thesis. It contains all translated physlets with lesson plans and worksheets.
Mining physiological data for automated educational feedback
Bašátková, Kateřina ; Lustigová, Zdena (advisor) ; Rotter, Miloš (referee)
1 Title: Mining Physiological Data for Automated Educational Feedback Author: Bc. Kateřina Bašátková Department: Department of Physics Education Supervisor: doc. RNDr. Zdena Lustigová, CSc., Department of Physics Education Abstract: This thesis deals with mining physiological data for automated educational feedback. The first part summarizes former researches of physiological data and its assertation into human behaviour. Special attention is devoted especially to eye tracking and measuring heart rate during behavioral processes. The second part is dedicated to author's own research how blink rate and heart rate are influenced by the degree of cognitive load. The research was executed on six subjects. The obtained data confirm correlation of blink rate and heart rate with the difficulty of the task. Keywords: heart rate, heart rate variability, blink rate, cognitive load
Physics of medical devices
Čečák, Michal ; Lustigová, Zdena (advisor) ; Rotter, Miloš (referee)
My bachelor thesis deals with medical devices. Specially operates with four instruments, that people are familiar with them. The text is designed for teachers at primary and secondary school. Thesis includes also three worksheets. At the end of each are also links to website that we could find some new information about issues studies.
Nuclear magnetic resonance in yttrium-iron garnets with cobalt and germanium substitutions
Schimm, Petr ; Štěpánková, Helena (advisor) ; Rotter, Miloš (referee)
Title: Nuclear Magnetic Resonance of Yttrium Iron Garnets with Substitutions of Cobalt and Germanium Author: Petr Schimm Department: Department of Low Temperature Physics Supervisor: prof. RNDr. Helena Štěpánková, CSc., Department of Low Temperature Physics Abstract: The work is devoted to investigation of thin films of nominally pure yttrium iron garnet and garnets containing cationic substitutions of Co, Ca and Ge. The examined samples were prepared by epitaxial growth from barium flux BaO/Ba2O3/BaF2. The aim was to find whether and how the substitutions, especially cobalt, influence the spectra of 57 Fe nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). The 57 Fe NMR spectra (in zero external magnetic field and at a temperature of 4.2K) were measured and a good resolution and high signal-to-noise ratio were reached. The weak satellite lines induced by defects, impurities and aimed substitutions were detected. The primary analysis of the spectra and their comparison were performed. Keywords: NMR, yttrium iron garnet, defects, substitution of Co, Ge, Ca
Non-metallic resistive low temperature thermometers
Duda, Daniel ; Rotter, Miloš (advisor) ; Janů, Zdeněk (referee)
temperature calibration has been carried out on series of resistors made of RuO2 of SMD type in the bath of normal and superfluid helium in temperatures at 1.4 - 4.2 K with reference thermometer of saturated vapor pressure. Measured temperature dependence of electrical resistance of resistors was analyzed using the exponential function and Chebychev's polynomials. It was established an optimum calibration for the use of resistors as thermometers.
Innovative motivation objects in physics education / interdisciplinnary approach
Šimek, Jan ; Lustigová, Zdena (advisor) ; Rotter, Miloš (referee)
The thesis offer proposals how to expand the role of laboratory teaching of physics at high schools. Their aim is to assist teachers in creating interesting physics measurements in cross ties. At work, Ifocused primarily on the use of physical measurements for research in historical fencing (e.g. measuring the maximum peripheral speed checks sword orfencing step duration.) andfor the field of biomechanics (the model arm in check). In this way the interconnection between high school physics courses and history and biology was implemented. Lab works foresee the use of speed cameras and computers for data processing, both are accessible at Czech high schools. Arm modelling was realised inprograms available to high school students. As a motivational toolfor student motivation the work offers the use of experiential learning and unconventional cross-links to topics that are close to secondary school students. Keywords: physics, high-speed camera, modelling of arm, projects in Physics, fencing
