Strolená, Kristýna ; Radimecký, Josef (advisor) ; Vacek, Jaroslav (referee)
The topic of hallucinogens use is currently very actual. According the Annual Report on Drug Situation in the Czech Republic in 2015, the lifetime prevalence of LSD use in the population is 3.1 % and 5.4 % hallucinogenic mushrooms, but it is higher among young adults (5.7 % and 9,2 %) (Mravčík et al., 2016). Users of hallucinogens tend to be a people devoted to various forms of artistic activity. The thesis aim is to determine whether and how selected hallucinogenic drugs use may affect artistic production (from the perspective of users). Data has been obtained through the method of unstructured interview. Further the research tries to inquire, whether the use of hallucinogens may impact a subsequent creation of sober artists, and whether it is possible to find some typical patterns in use of hallucinogens by artists. The work is structured as qualitative study consisting of theoretical description of the problem and of methodological part. The previous is therefore presenting theoretical definition of art, artistic creation and creativity, theoretical analysis of the connection between hallucinogens use and art, including ritual art. The final section focuses on practical application and is based primarily on research formed by informant's statements. Thesis is complemented by photographic...

Sovová, Adéla ; Radimecký, Josef (advisor) ; Štěpánková, Lenka (referee)
BACKGROUND - This thesis works on the assumption that one's own experience with smoking cessation along with the habit-breaking patterns that one gains from this experience, might have a positive influence on addiction treatment. It is assumed that these patterns help client with the overall treatment, the relapse prevention, motivation issues and continued abstinence. AIMS - The aim of this thesis is to investigate the effect of smoking cessation experience and the role it plays in the therapeutic community. I also focused my research on the clients' perception of the tobacco using in relation to their health, life and complete abstinence concept. METHODS - Both current smokers and ex-smokers as well as clients of two therapeutic communities were subjected to qualitative analysis. Purposive sampling method was used to select the respondents for semi-structured interview. Content analysis and partly interpretative phenomenological analysis were used to process the collected data. RESULTS - Based on the research, respondents perceive smoking negatively in relation to their health. They are aware of the tobacco dependence potential, however they do not include the issue into complete abstinence. The assumption that respondents utilize their smoking cessation experience in addiction treatment was in...
Opportunities and limits of post-penitenciary care in out-patient services for drug users
Malinská, Dita ; Radimecký, Josef (advisor) ; Šejvl, Jaroslav (referee)
In my thesis I deal with the postpenitenciary care in ambulatory services for drug users. The aim of this study was to explore why clients seek and visit the institute, where my study took place, what services they used and which services did they miss there. Then I investigated reasons of their early abortion of these services. For these purposes, I chose a qualitative study - six case studies of clients who have used postpenitenciary services. My research took place in one organization - the ambulatory center for drug users. I was in contact with the clients throughout their whole attendance at the service. For the purpose of qualitative research I used data folders of the clients - records of consultations made with clients and all documents that were relevant for the study. All respondents were sent to the institution by workers of Probation and Mediation Service for Czech Republic. Four of the six clients completed the program properly. Two clients aborted the service earlier. Due to the quantity of the research sample we can not generalize these information, but we can say, that the provision of postpenitenciary care is very important to map the client's situation, individual access to his or her needs, and on this basis to select the appropriate interventions in work with theem, which I...

UNIVERZITA KARLOVA V PRAZE FAKULTA SOCIÁLNÍCH VĚD Institut sociologických studií Užívání nelegálních drog z pohledu aktérů české drogové politiky Perspectives on Illicit Drug Use in the Czech Republic Abstrakt / Abstract Studijní program: Sociologie Studijní obor: Veřejná a sociální politika Autor: Mgr.
Is necessary hard approach in the treatment of addiction? Qualitative analysis of attitudes and experiences of Czech therapists
Debnar, Alexandr ; Radimecký, Josef (advisor) ; Reichelová, Lenka (referee)
In the therapy of addiction we constantly come across the opinion that the therapy should be tough, even though such an approach is obviously not suitable for everyone. Where does this general idea among proffessionals come from then? No single treatment is appropriate for everyone and not all the patients/clients are able to continue to abstain or even lead a fully-fledged life after completing their therapy. In the residential rehabilitation we usually encounter the usage of a specific set of rules, called cardinal. Violation of these rules is generally perceived as incompatible with patient's remaining in the rehab. Therefore the matter of approach towards adhering to the cardinal rules and their enforcement by a therapist remains a key in this research. The core issue of the thesis is to describe and discuss how proffessionals in the field perceive some of these controversial topics and to reveal the origin and causation of their attitude towards the "tough approach" in therapy. The methodology used in the thesis consist in the following: semi - structured interviews, survey set analysis using interpretive techniques such as data coding, colour coding, segmentation, and finally analysis of survey results. The research sample was formed by selection of six therapists. All of these proffessionals...
