Is Punk Dead?

Tato práce se zabývá proměnou punkové subkultury v českém prostředí od konce 70. let do současnosti. Zaměřuje se především na změnu životních hodnot a kontextu se zlomovým bodem, za který je označován pád komunismu. Je zde analyzován vývoj subkultury, která se rodí ve pojených státech amerických 70. letech, odkud se rozšířila do celého světa. Je typická odporem ke konzumní společnosti, válkám, nacismu, korporacím a hlavně nesvobodě. Mezi roky a 1977 se punk dostává i do tehdejšího Československa, kde v kontextu vlády komunistické strany dostává nový rozměr. Práce popisuje rozpor mezi příslušníky komunity a veřejností, kterou jsou tito lidé označování za závadovou a nebezpečnou mládež. Subkultura se potýká s represemi a omezeními až do pádu socialismu začnou vznikat nové odnože, souvislosti se společenským vývojem roste nová tvář subkultury, která se již zabývá konkrétnějšími problémy, jako jsou práva zvířat, či plýtvání. V analýzu použit kvalitativní výzkum ve formě zúčastněného pozorování a rozhovorů se zástupci současné i původní vlny. Rozhovory napovídají, že objektem zájmu je stále pojem "svoboda" a k proměně dochází spíše v konkrétních terých se této hodn příslušníci subkultury dožadují. The Transformation of Czech Freetekno Scene

(in English) This thesis focuses on the research of a Czech music scene called Freetekno. The research was conducted with qualitative approach by using a combination of in-depth interviews with informants and participant field observation. The informants of the research are organizers and attendees of freeparties. The terrain of the fieldwork is represented by freeparties held in the Czech Republic during the year 2017 and at the beginning of the following year. Within the field of Czech music subcultures, freetekno scene exists for almost twenty-five years and this text focuses on the research of its transformation, which is facilitated through several transformational processes, including commercialisation; decriminalisation; professionalization; change of participants; transformation of drug situation; and transformation of the "spirit" of freeparties. These processes are not isolated; they mutually influence each other quite strongly. Together, the transformational processes form a network of influence, whose outcome is then the transformation of the scene itself.
From all corners of the world: Ethnic identity of Erasmus students

The main topic of this work is forming of an ethnic identity in multicultural interaction. The key source of information besides the literature is data acquired by own research work. Studied literature enables the author to discuss the main theoretical approaches and specify the essential terminology. The presented concept is examined owing to the research work. The research is designed as a case study of a specific group: Erasmus students in French Lyon. This group was examined by way of analysis of interviews with some of its members. In quest of achieving reliable data, the research is focused on five nationalities: Bulgarians, Czechs, Germans, Italians and Spanish. The conclusions of this work clarify how the examined individuals construct their ethnic identities but also how they comprehend the term culture. The analytical part of this work concentrates on how they perceive their own culture and how they observe the foreign culture in which they are temporarily staying. In this context ethnic and social dichotomies are discussed as a means of self-identification and self-determination. It seeks to explore attributes based on which one can define a certain rap expression as the "real" one. The theoretical part includes the definition of the term subculture, main attributes of hip hop (sub)culture, and the definition of authenticity, the key concept of the dissertation. In dialogue with the findings of the hip hop studies of Western countries, this dissertation looks at the authenticity claims expressed in Czech rap music and the context and situations in which the question of authenticity of Czech rappers becomes important. Drum and Bass Connect us: the Characteristics of Drum and Bass Listeners Related to this Genre

(in English) This bachelor's degree focuses on the characteristics of listeners of the music genre Drum and Bass (DnB). The main method of research were semi-structured interviews with respondents in the form of qualitative research and participant observation. The respondents are long-term DnB listeners, the participant observation took place in clubs and festivals focusing on Drum and Bass throughout 2018. Drum and Bass is originally a British music genre that has existed in the Czech Republic for many years now. This bachelor's degree focuses mainly on the long-term listeners perception of Drum and Bass, the role Drum and Bass has in their personal and social lives, the relationships they have with other listeners and the transformation of this genre during their active research. The listeners are a diverse group that do not form a subculture, but do share similar characteristics and views about contemporary Drum and Bass and are also interested in actively engaging in DnB as DJ's.
