Ancient astrology: signs of zodiac

V dnešní době, kdy se řada lidí odvrací od exaktních věd a hledá určitou alternativu k čistě racionálnímu obrazu světa, se zvyšuje zájem o esoteriku, parapsychologii, alternativní medicínu a také astrologii. Astrologie Je obor, který se zabývá vztahy mez1 postaveními Slunce, Měsíce, planet a hvězd a děním na Zemi. Ačkoli řada odpůrců jí upírá označení vědní disciplíny, je astrologie podobně jako věda založena na empirii, pozorování a statistických metodách, ve kterých rovněž využívá poznatků astronomie. Při svých interpretacích vychází z názoru, že vesmír tvoří jeden celek a tedy všechny jeho součásti nutně musí souviset s ostatními. Právě díky mému hlubšímu zájmu o astrologii jsem se rozhodla zjistit více o tom, odkud vlastně astrologie vzešla, jak se dále šířila a rozvíjela, zdali už v antickém světě dosáhla takové úrovně a poznatků, jakými disponuje dnes a také v jakém prostředí a kým byla praktikována. Výše zmíněné otázky se pokusím zodpovědět v jednotlivých kapitolách. Celá práce bude rozdělena na dvě části, přičemž v první nastíním vývoj astrologické disciplíny a její šíření v antickém světě, ve druhé se budu věnovat jednotlivým znamením zvěrokruhu a jejich zobrazením. Roman forts in Egypt

This paper deals with roman fortifications in Egypt. The main emphasis is laid on roman fortresses on forts. Their descriptions are included in the first part of the paper. Another fortification's elements, history of roman province and mentions of forts in ancient writings, which put the forts in geographical and historical context, are described more shortly. The paper includes a brief part about roman navy too. In the second part of the paper the author tries to point out the functions of forts, development of fortification system, the architectural similarities between forts in Egypt and to find architectural parallels in other parts of Roman Empire.
Roman gardens in antiquity

This bachelor work is concearning in a conceptional and in an architectural resolution of Roman gardens during the Roman period. The attention is paid to literary and archaeological sources, frescoes and mosaics and to gardening traditions, which help come close to understand Roman gardens in consideration of individual influences, which had participated in the garden forming. The development of gardens in Italy and in the Roman provinces and gardens insertion to the residential complexes are shortly cleared. Thereinafter are every single garden type, architectural features in garden design and garden sculpture analyzed. The last chapters are devoted to fauna and flora in gardens, to Roman gardeners, their tools and techniques. In the conclusion are summarized Roman garden's influences to the later gardens until these days.
Tactic of the Roman army from Caesar to Augustus

In my bachelor thesis I would like to focus on evaluation issues of roman army in the age of Caesar, structure, placement units and manner of war, which was typical in this time. I want to valorize individual parts equipment and weaponery roman legionnaries in this time, then focus on some special battles, which Caesar led and interpet tactical formation and concept, which were used. In question of fortification I would like to show on good explored example of fortification siege of Alesia. And I want to show on changes after Caesar's death in the reign of Octavianus Augustus. Bricks with stamps from ancient Gerulata

The purpose of this work is to organize our knowledge of the stamped bricks found in ancient Gerulatě - Rosovcích Bratislava today. Kolkata are important epigraphical material and Gerulatu never been generally processed, although such findings to the catalog for Bergl exists. I will try to So the best to handle the issue so that it is as accurate and most. In the first, theoretical part I will first give a brief history of how Gerulata themselves and progress of modern research, as well as general situation as regards the Slovak Republic stamps. This part is also characteristic different types of stamps Gerulatě found, their history, as well as basic information about the bricks themselves. The second part is itself not yet published catalog of stamps, with their a brief description and location finding. At the end, the catalog is a summary of this information so that even someone who does not necessarily need to have information about Each stamp can build on this work. (překlad vytvořen dodatečně)
Etruscan and Greek chimeras of the archaic period

This work describes the presence of an archaic view Chimera time in Greece and Etruria and development of mixed beings. I will follow the creation of basic types and predominant tendencies. Chimera is a popular theme in předovýchodním, Greek and Etruscan art. Although it is perceived as a three-part monster, its varied forms depending on the time and place of occurrence. My intention is to consider this issue and evaluate the iconographic significance, which was display attached.
Iron Age and Roman Britain

My work deals with current konwledge of Celts in Iron Age and Roman Britain (approximately from the 6th century BC to the 5th century AD), includes infromation about chronology and periodization, Celtic society, settlement, burial practices, economic life, art and religion. The attention is devoted to today's views on Britain's share in the process of ethnogenesis of Celts and the ethnic structure of the population in pre-Roman period and the influence of the migration from the continent. The thasis further focuses primarily on the period of Roman occupation between 43 - 410 AD and the influence of Roman occupation on other aspects of Celtic society and effort to capture the development of the agricultural settlement outside the central site and explore the influences of Roman civilization in this environment. Work should, inter alia, aim to complete assessment of the extent of the continuation, modification or extinction of indigenous cultural forms.
Roman forts and fortresses in the Nile valley

This paper deals with roman fortifications in the Nile valley from the mouth of Delta to site of Qasr Ibrim located between first and second cataract. Period described in this paper can be limit by two dates. Beginning lay in the year 30BC, when Egypt became a roman province. The end of this period is year AD 641, when the city of Alexandria capitulated to Arab conquerors. The paper focuses on the architecture of forts and archaeological excavations.
Roman uguentaria based on ancient collections in Moravian museums

In my work I decided to treat the glass balsamariích Roman period. The aim is to highlight the issue of production of blown glass and its evolution in the ancient world. The topic I chose, because the vast majority of collections of antique glass, on which I was involved in processing, are balsamaria. Moreover, this was not a topic in the Czech Republic almost a hundred years further elaborated, as are more focused balsamariím J. Čadík.
Etruscan sacred areas of the archaic and classical period

This dissertation thesis deals with basic etruscan space division and orientation of cult buildings. It describes architecture of etruscan temples, pillar construction and construction materials differing from greek temples. It also deals with altars. It summarizes different approaches to etruscan temples and opinions on their evolution. At the end there are attached examples of individual temples located in Etruria.
