This bachelor's thesis is a literature research that deals with The molecular causes of human diseases and teaching of this topic on high schools. The first part is focused on an explanation of the molecular causes of selected human diseases mentioned in textbooks for high schools. It also touches another possibilities of teaching these topics at secondary schools. Human diseases mentioned in this part of the bachelor's thesis were chosen by researche of textbooks. The second part of the thesis deals with the evaluation of textbooks. Textbooks were evaluated only in terms of the content of information related to the topic of my thesis. The evaluation criteria were stated upfront and they were identical for all textbooks.

It focuses primarily on celiac sprue, describes the disease, its clinical manifestations, symptoms, complications, methods of investigation, diagnosis and treatment. Part of the thesis deals with relationship of gluten to other diseases such as gluten sensitivity or autism.

Quantitative comparison of pericytal coverage of placental capillaries of diabetic and non-diabetic mothers

This bachelor thesis is a contribution to the research of structure of the placental capillaries. It deals with a quantitative comparison of pericytal coverage which encloses the endothelium of capillaries. Samples were substracted from the placentas of 8 healthy mothers and from 18 placentas of mothers whose pregnancies were complicated by Type I diabetes mellitus. The marker of pericytes actin was demonstrated by immunohistochemistry on histological sections of formaline-fixed and paraffin-embedded specimens. Images of the placental terminal villi were obtained by confocal microscope and converted into TIFF data format. Measurements of the extent of pericytal coverage on the cross-section of a capillary were realized using ImageJ software. The obtained data were statistically analyzed and the conclusions were drawn from the results and revelation of a blind test. The test did not confirm the hypothesis that the diabetes mellitus type I affects the density of pericytal coverage of the capillary walls in the placenta.

The role of the radiological assistant in the radiotherapy of prostate cancer

This bachelor's thesis "The Role of the Radiological Assistant in the Radiotherapy of Prostate Cancer" deals with a malignant disease of prostate which represents the most common type of cancer of adult men. In preface of my work, I concentrate on anatomy and function of prostate, epidemiology, disease symptoms and I so describe the way of diagnosis (PSA, DRE, TRUS, biopsy, radioisotopic scintigraphy, CT, MR and cystoscopy) here. The extent of tumour (staging) and clinical stage of disease (TNM classification, level of tumour differentiation) are very important at prostate cancer too. In realm of the curative strategy, I write about the surgical treatment, the possibility of radiotherapy, and about the hormonal treatment and the chemotherapy in the end. Especially I want to remark a daily working content of the radiological assistant at workplace of the radiological oncology (localization, planning CT examination, contouring, radiotherapy plan simulation, daily patient positioning and irradiation on linear accelerator) and equipment needed to radiation therapy (simulator, planning CT scanner, linear accelerator). In the end of my work I concentrate on the prognosis of prostate carcinoma and why it is important to do the preventive examination (screening) of this disease. The Faculty Library, Hospital Motol...

The role of radiologist assistant in the diagnostics and therapy ofbreast cancer

Bachelor thesis "The role of radiological assistant in the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer". The work is composed of five main parts and several subparts. The first part deals with the description of anatomy of female breast. The second part is devoted to the classification of breast tumors and includes risk factors for the emergence of breast cancer. The following section is devoted to the diagnosis of breast cancer. Diagnosis includes mammography, breast ultrasound, duktography, mammography stereotax, breast magnetic resonance, CT and breast mammoscintigraphy. The most important for radiological assistant is mammography. The fourth part is about the treatment of malignant tumors especially carcinoma. These include surgical treatment, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and brachytherapy. The greatest emphasis is placed on radiotherapy, chemotherapy and brachytherapy, where the X-ray assistant applies. The last part of the work is devoted to the prevention of breast cancer. Prevention includes clinical examination, self-examination and mammography screening.
