Knowledge of kidney function and disease in upper elementary school pupils of selected elementary schools

The dissertation entitled Knowledge of kidney function and disease in upper elementary school pupils of selected elementary schools focuses on what knowledge of kidneys and kidney disease among pupils of selected elementary schools. The objective of the thesis is to show what knowledge pupils of the final two grades of selected elementary schools have about the structure and function of the kidneys as well as kidney disease and the possibilities of disease prevention, namely in terms of a suitable lifestyle and exercise. The theoretical part of the dissertation focuses on the description of the structure and function of the kidneys, kidney diseases and their treatment options, as well as the development of dialysis treatment since 2015 and assumptions about the success of the treatment. Importantly, it examines the Framework Educational Programme for elementary education, where the focus is on areas related to the topic of kidneys and their health. The practical part consists of an analysis of the answers of selected elementary school students to the questions in a questionnaire which contains questions focused on knowledge about kidney structure and function, possible risks to kidney health, the influence of diet and drinking habits on kidney health, and about disease prevention. The diploma thesis focuses on the perception of poverty among the pupils of the second grade of the selected primary school - Primary School and Kindergarten Dolní Poustevna. Specifically, it deals with the extent to which pupils distinguish subjective perception of poverty, whether they are able to distinguish groups of people at risk of poverty, whether they are oriented in the possible assistance to people at risk of poverty. The first part explains and describes aspects of poverty, from the definition of poverty itself, to its concepts, causes, measurement, the poverty cycle and the issue of social exclusion. Awareness of primary school pupils about healthy eating.

The diploma thesis deals with the issues of healthy eating in pupils of the 2nd grade in primary schools. The theoretical part discusses with the topics related to this work. At the beginning the concepts of nutrition are explained. The work also includes the topic of rational nutrition, nutrition of children of school age or the risks associated with nutrition. Last but not least, this part is devoted to alternative directions in nutrition, programs supporting health in schools and inclusion of nutrition into the Framework Educational Program in primary schools. In the practical part, the research was conducted using a questionnaire survey which was questioned by pupils of the 8th and 9th year at the primary school Mnichovo Hradiště and the primary school Úvaly. The questions were about various nutrition topics. The information obtained is processed in the form of tables and than commented on. The research revealed that 33 % of pupils have knowledge of a healthy eating above 60 % and the remaining 67 % of students do not meet this limit. The surprising findings are insufficient knowledge of students about civilizational diseases, with at least 60 % of pupils unaware of the issue. Awareness of children from selected schools about Crohn's disease

In my bachlors thesis I decided to focus on Crohn's disease. In the theoretical part, I dealt with the basic information about the disease, in which I tried to summarize the important information. For example, I focus on etiology, clinical picture, treatment and quality of life of patients. Then, in the practical part, I discuss the knowledge of children. These knowledge was collected by an anonymous survey using questionnaires. The questionnaires were distributed among the sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth grades in the primary school in Uhlířské Janovice and in the Gymnasium in Kolín. My aim was to find out whether the children were informed about the disease and if so, to what extent. For a better overview I chose two sub-objectives and one main objective. In the first sub-objective, I concentrate on basic information about Crohn's disease and supposted that less than 50% of the children would not be aware of the existence of Crohn's disease at all. This assumption held true. Only 62 children (31.3%) had heard of the disease. In the second sub-objective, I focused on knowledge. Here, I assumed that children from the grammar school would be more aaware of Crohn's disease than children from the primary school. This assumption was not fulfilled. Teaching Sex Education in Selected Czech Schools from the Perspective of Pupils and Their Teachers

The bachelor thesis deals with the issue of sex education in the context of school education. The theoretical part of the thesis presents a general view into the teaching of sex education with an emphasis on the prevention of risky behaviour of adolescents. The main aim of the thesis was to map the teaching of sex education in two selected schools. The research methods of data collection were two - a questionnaire survey designed for the selected students (101 respondents) and an interview for the teachers who teach sex education at the selected schools (two teachers). The results of the survey reflect the respondents' experiences of teaching sex education in these schools, their personal views and suggestions, which were used to develop recommendations for practice. In both selected schools, the teaching of sex education is included only towards the end of compulsory schooling. At the selected primary school, its topics are taught in the subject of science, at the selected secondary school in the subject of "civic education". 85.7 % of the respondents of the selected primary school stated that they were divided into groups according to gender during sex education, while 84.4 % of the respondents of the selected secondary school stated that they were not divided. The students knowledge of the medical high school in the area of prevention and first aid for a stroke

This diploma thesis deals with the issue of stroke, specifically what the knowledge of chosen nursing school students in this important part of neurological field is. Theoretical part of the thesis includes basic knowledge about this illness, gained from studying professional sources. Practical part is worked out on the basis of survey, that took place in chosen nursing school. The aim was to evaluate the level of chosen school students ́ knowledge about the stroke issue, focused particularly on the recognition of the symptoms of stroke, first aid provision and the knowledge of stroke risk factors and prevention. Finding out, if the grade level of chosen nursing school students has effect on their knowledge in this field, was the another aim. Answers of 102 responders were evaluated and specific steps based on the result of the survey were formulated. It will lead to increased awareness and earned knowledge specification of stroke issue among chosen nursing school students. Diploma thesis Specific needs of a child with diabetes mellitus type 1 at the 1st grade of primary schools is divided into two main parts. The theoretical part deals with diabetes mellitus, its definition and classification. Next, it deals with the chronic disease of type 1 diabetes mellitus, a brief history, basic concepts associated with the disease, epidemiology, symptomatology and others. The core parts are specifics related to diabetes in children, that is followed by the practical part, whose main aim is to identify the specific needs of children with diabetes attending the first grade of selected primary schools. The information from the interviews with parents, pedagogical staff and children with type 1 diabetes mellitus was used in the research. These information aimed to determine parents' satisfaction with the approach of the school, to determine teachers'current knowledge and concerns when educating a pupil with type 1 diabetes mellitus, and then to determine the needs and satisfaction of children with diabetes during their school attendance. My final thesis deals with the the topic of awareness of selected respondents aged 18 - 35 years about good oral hygiene in a selected dental office. In the theoretical part of the thesis, a brief overview of dental anatomy and it's general characteristics are presented. Furthermore, the anatomy of the dentition is expanded by a brief anatomy of the periodontium. This is followed by selected oral diseases that are most commonly encountered. Dentistry as a separate discipline also encounters the myths and superstitions that are prevalent in society and at the same time the different types of prevetion - primary, secondary and tertiar - are completely related to them. The different types of prevention reflect the areas that we classify among them. The aim of this bachelor's thesis is an attempt to assess the level of knowledge and awareness of the selected respondents in a particular dental practice. The information required for the practical part of the bachelor thesis was obtained by means of questionnaire survey. The results of this research can be found in the second part of bachelor thesis.
