Rumler, Daniel ; TOMÁŠEK, Jiří (advisor) ; HŮLA, Pavel (referee)
The focus of my paper called Josef Suk (1874-1935): Works for violin is the analysis of his Fantasy g-minor op. 25 for violin and orchestra and his works for violin and piano. It was not my aim here to analyse note by note, but to comment on the basic tectonic features and point out the most interesting parts of the score. I look on formal aspects of these compositions, with the aim of gaining insight into the portrayal of the author's thoughts. I also pay attention to the harmonic side of these works. Also concerning the chamber works with the violin I provide an abridged analysis In each composition (if possible) the date of premiere and also its performer is indicated. The paper firstly provides general information on the life and work of Josef Suk and about the history of the Czech Quartet.

The violin virtuoso František Ondříček
Vilímec, Libor ; HŮLA, Pavel (advisor) ; TOMÁŠEK, Jiří (referee)
I chose to write my dissertation work about František Ondříček because of my great interest in the history of violin playing. Czech violin school was represented by many outstanding violinists, who spread the fame of this school all over the world. About the most famous Czech violinist, Jan Kubelík, I wrote already when studying at the Prague Conservatory. However, an other excellent violinist captured my attention and interest and it was František Ondříček, whose art carrer can be justly called worldwide. The biggest impluse for me to write about this artist was my listening to his two recordings, which I have recently managed to get. These particular recordings offer us a new view at František Ondříček, while up to now this violinist has been judged only on the basis of contemporary reviews. In my dissertation I tried to findout, if his violin playing can capture attention of nowaday audience and if the listeners can perceive and consider his playing as up-to-date. František Ondříček was closely linked with the tradition of legendary violinist N.Paganini. This fact can bring the art of this violinist nearer to us and to our perception. For all these reasons I consider František Ondříček as a very important personality in the history of violin playing.
