Age related changes in the central auditory system in the laboratory rat
Burianová, Jana ; Popelář, Jiří (advisor) ; Stuchlík, Aleš (referee) ; Rokyta, Richard (referee)
Age-related hearing loss, presbyacusis, is becoming one of the most common health disabilities in elderly people. Despite intensive research, age-related changes are still poorly understood and, given the continuous aging of the population, it is desirable to improve our knowledge of the mechanisms of presbyacusis. Consequently we decided to study age-related changes that appear in the structure and function of the central auditory system in the brain of experimental animals. In the first experiment we tested the hypothesis that during aging there is substantial decline of GABA-mediated inhibition in the central auditory system of the rat. We evaluated levels of both isoforms of glutamatedecarboxylase (GAD65, GAD67), a key enzyme in GABA synthesis. Western blot analysis revealed an overall decrease in levels of both isoforms in the inferior colliculus as well as the auditory cortex in aged rats. The same pattern was found when we used immunohistochemistry analysis; there was a decrease in the number of GAD65 and GAD67-ir neuronal bodies and a decrease in the density of the labeling. The results were similar for both GAD isoforms and both studied strains - the normally aging Long Evans strain (LE) and the Fischer 344 (F344) strain known for accelerated aging. In the next experiment we evaluated...

The Process of Entrolling Children to the Pre-school education
Švarcová, Libuše ; Kroláková, Dagmar (referee) ; Burianová, Jana (advisor)
The final bachelor work is particularly concerned with the process of enrolling children to the pre-school education and with finding out circumstances influencing this process. It considers the way of taking children into nursery schools complying with all legal regulations and emphasizing the Convention on the Rights of the Children, and it draws attention to the different wording of the law on the children's enrolments. It maps hitherto progress, disproportions between the number of applicants and capacitive possibilities of the nursery schools when formulation and use of criteria for enrolling children do not solve the problems with insufficiency of posts in nursery schools. The bachelor work is based on the knowledge included in available literature and legal regulations, my own practice and experience. It compares results of my own research and nation-wide data. It brings up a comprehensive methodical material which in compliance with law could help headmasters of nursery schools in decision-making on administrative action. Using exploratory methods, my own research is assessing if problems related with enrolling children and with capacity of nursery schools are regional or if they are occurring in the whole ČR, and how they are treated.
Factors influencing the opinion of adolescents about the issue of domestic violence
BURIANOVÁ, Jana
Abstract The diploma thesis on the theme ?Factors influencing adolescents´ opinion on issues of the domestic violence? deals in the theoretical part with all important aspects of the domestic violence and stalking. The research part has been focused on adolescents aged 17 to 19 years living in Vysočina region, the research sample has consisted of 858 respondents. The aim of the thesis was to find out, by statistical methods on a statistically significant sample of adolescents, key factors influencing the adolescents´ opinion on the issue of the domestic violence. In relation to the aim of the thesis there were determined following hypotheses, which were tested on 5% significance level with six survey questions. Hypothesis 1: ?Statistically significant factor for the domestic violence among adolescents is their personal experience? was confirmed in four areas. Respondents having the personal experience with the domestic violence differ from the respondents without such experience in the following: they are more aware of a possibility of a partner´s violence at their age, they more refuse to tolerate the domestic violence, they better recognize a definition of the domestic violence and they are often aware of a possibility of a trans-generation transmission of the violence. In connection with this hypothesis it is important the finding, that 57 respondents (7%) have their personal experience with the domestic violence; 49 girls and 8 boys. Hypothesis 2: ?Statistically significant factor for the domestic violence among adolescents is the education? was not confirmed due to a low variability of responses and insufficient data to evaluate the hypothesis. Hypothesis 3: ?Statistically significant factor for the domestic violence among adolescents is the gender (women)? was confirmed in two areas. Girls differ from boys in the following: they are more aware of a possibility of the partner´s violence at their age and they more refuse to tolerate the domestic violence. The diploma thesis can serve as a source of current information related to the issue of the domestic violence, it provides an up-to-date data on the prevalence of the domestic violence in the adolescence and it presents information and opinions of adolescents on the domestic violence or partner relationship. The thesis can be used by professionals as well as lay public interested in the domestic violence and it can be a basis or a comparison for other studies and researches.
