This Bachelor's thesis deals with design and construction of support circuits for a modern optical amplifier the SOA. In the first chapter, optical transmitting medium with its physical properties and types of used cabels is described. The overview includes a list of optical cables, their damping properties and parasitic effects which can occur durring comunication. Next chapter is focused on the optical signal sources used in modern data networks, describes their internal structure and physical essence. Third chapter is dedicated to designing the optical amplifier with the SOA circuit. It focuses on the right choice of parts, their arrangement and layout of the design. Last chapter deals with set up, calibration and control of the optical amplifier module.
Laboratory exercises making use of the industrial sensor system ADAM
Mixa, Jan ; Číž, Radim (referee) ; Rampl, Ivan (advisor)
The main Objective of the Bachelor Thesis is to familiarize with industry sensor system. The whole system is based on Modules ADAM 4000, RS 485 Bus, a Personal Computer with RS 232 Bus. It is important to understand how the system works and what method of communication is between system components. For this Purpose are designed two laboratory tasks. The first task is „Thermal quantity sensor“, for this task is used a development environment designed directly for ADAM modules – ADAMview. The second task is called „ADAM ASCII protocol“. Sensor System with ADAM modules provides simplicity, comfort and precision of measurements.
Model of transmission channel for xDSL systems
Jedlička, Zdeněk ; Číž, Radim (referee) ; Krajsa, Ondřej (advisor)
This bachelor thesis introduces the xDSL systems, shows the distribution of group members to symmetric and asymmetric, and shows the possibility of modeling the transmission channel for xDSL systems. It also gives ways you can get primary and secondary cable parameters and shows the potential of simulation. These parameters are used to calculate the transfer function, embedded input impedance and attenuation using the program, which is an integral part of this work.
Electronic thermostat
Flek, Tomáš ; Číž, Radim (referee) ; Lattenberg, Ivo (advisor)
In essence, this thesis focuses on a search for an optimal measuring method suitable for converting a temperature measurement into an electrical signal that can be processed easily in the other parts of the electrical circuit. The selection of the measurement method was guided by the need to find one suitable for the temperature range in question. For each method there are different temperatures sensors, each with different parameters. This thesis covers in detail the various kinds of temperature sensors and notes their advantage and disadvantage, accuracy, repeatability, non-linearity, longevity, and purchasing price. The thesis also investigates how to cope with non-linearity of the selected temperature sensor while also listing various methods for non-linearity compensation and their effect on the overall measuring. A part of the thesis presents a design of a suitable thermostat that was selected on the basis of this work to provide suitable measuring properties and be most cost effective.
Simple one-chip microcontroller programmer
Verner, Lukáš ; Číž, Radim (referee) ; Daněček, Vít (advisor)
The main purpose of my bachelor thesis is acquaint with issue programming of Atmel AVR microcontrollers and to create a simple chipprogrammer with component units like LEDs, switches, LCD display, DA converter for testing and development. The first part deal about questions of theory programming memory inside microcontrollers and descrption of programming algorithm. The memories is possible program in three way. The most used method is method call „In System Programming“ ISP. This method provide easy and fast manupulation. Order method of programming memory require 12V supply. These method are parallel and serial high voltage programming. The concept of programmer is design to all method of programming memory. From previous information about programming memory was written source code of program to control programmer that receive command from computer and ensure performing of right algorithm in target microcontroller. In the next chapter is clarified design of hardware items and there is the simple user manual of items and installation of programmer. The final part of thesis explains how to use programmer's tworowconnectors and setting jumpers for programing in daily work. In attachments are electrical scheme, list of devices, printed circuit board, files of circuit board and scheme in Eagle format, source code and binary program to control microcontroller of simple chipprogrammer. These attachments are needed for make a chipprogrammer.
Modelling of the properties of transmission channel for xDSL systems
Nepovím, Pavel ; Číž, Radim (referee) ; Krajsa, Ondřej (advisor)
The aim of the thesis is introduce problems of the modelling transmission properties of the metallic symetric cables that are always the most often transmission cables on access networks where the xDSL systems are installed. At first the structual features of the metallic symetric cables, theirs transmission properties (primary and secondary) and models of these parametres are shown. Then the ABCD transmission parameters that characterized the transmission line as a two-port network are described, by force of that the transfer function is obtained. The aplication which was created in Matlab offers to check of the theoretical knowledges . This aplication makes it possible to choose the character of transmission line and to approximate the obtained transfer function of this transmission line.
Analyzer of cardiac waveform
Zmeškal, Ladislav ; Říha, Kamil (referee) ; Číž, Radim (advisor)
The thesis describes design, algorithmization and realization of graphical application for recording EKG and PPG signal using LabJack UE9 tool in Matlab program, it also describes subsequent deposition of recorded signals and their processing, such as optional selection, cropping and filtering. Furthermore there are described types of filters, methods for detecting basic parameters of EKG and PPG signals and methods for detecting R waves and Systolic peaks. Based on detection of those parameters, algorithms for computing average heart rate and finding arrhythmias were designed and tested. Last part of the thesis includes an evaulation which compares values detected by designed algorithms with values from public database which includes reference annotation.
Temperature measurement with data transfer via WLAN
Müller, David ; Číž, Radim (referee) ; Lattenberg, Ivo (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the design of temperature sensor and display units, which communicate via a WLAN network. The theoretical part provides an overview of various methods of temperature measurement including several specific types of temperature sensors, and also introduces the WLAN standard as well as TCP and UDP protocols. The design solution is focuses first on the system architecture and design of the communication protocol, followed by the implementation of both types of equipment, starting with selection of components, through design diagrams and printed circuit board patterns, up to production and commissioning. The following parts of this thesis deal with the design of programs for the controlling microcontroller units of both units and the configuration application for PC.
Ambulatory ECG Holter Monitor
Majerík, Peter ; Strašil, Ivo (referee) ; Číž, Radim (advisor)
The thesis deals with design of the device for monitoring four signals from the probes for scanning ECG, PPG and heart pressure. The thesis is mainly focused on hardware design of the device and the most important part is the selection of the storage media to which will be the data recorded and the selection of the microprocessor which has to be able to meet the requirements of the device. For the data recording is used SD card and the ARM based MCU was selected from the AT91SAM7S series. This thesis also deals with the software design for MCU which is needed to launch the device and with design of PC applications used for setting the device and for downloading the measured data. At the end there are presented results of the constructed device.
