Behind the Mental Hospital Walls: Internal and External Spaces of Mental Health Treatments
Macejková, Eva ; Pišteková, Danica (referee) ; Mitášová, Monika (advisor)
Múr Brut is a continuation of the discussion on the topic of how the environments of institutions initiate and shape a specific reading of various activities, affecting the relationships and ties between the environment, staff and patients. Questions of power, choice, surveillance, control, and especially the negotiation of spatial boundaries between them are present throughout the book, and that was the driving force for me. The project also examines the domestic context of Slovakia and tries to find out where the possible reason for the stagnation of space in these institutions lies. Subsequently, it presents variations of the possibilities of intervention in the existing sediments, and at the same time outlines a possible positive pattern.
Architecture Staging Interactions in Space
Krettková, Karin ; Zervan, Marián (referee) ; Mitášová, Monika (advisor)
Architectural space is a staged space; architects use the plan to delineate the interaction of man with space, man with man, and space with space itself. In this way, Architecture becomes a staging oscillating between actual and virtual space. Time is fast and we keep accelerating. Thus, the virtual component of architecture, until recently neglected, is becoming increasingly important. Once again, there is a need to get ducks in a row. Through a critical interpretation of texts, buildings and events, the thesis seeks to find a position, practices and tools of architecture that enable it to embody the ever-metamorphosing spirit of the times. Rather than establishing a canon according to which to construct, I seek to sift the meanings, realities and affirmations of the time that will allow me to realign my point of view, establish a position and prepare myself to enter the world of architecture. The text is composed of three layers. The first is an essay that tries to answer the question through an interpretation of the contemporary social scene and the role of architecture in it: What happened to archi-architecture? The second layer, through the example of the evolution of architectural imagery, addresses the necessity of engaging consciousness in constructing architecture through which we structure the human landscape. The third layer is the form of the work itself, which seeks to find a medium of architecture that would allow to update the discourse and stir the stagnant waters of the present, trapped between the inability of the young generation to read and the necessity of critical reading to develop conscious processes. And what else is architecture but a conscious reorganization of space?
Attitude to the topic of death in the social service of a weekly day care center for a target group of mentally disabled persons
NEDVĚDOVÁ, Monika
This thesis is called "Attitude to the topic of death in the social service of a weekly day care center for a target group of mentally disabled persons". It is a diploma thesis, which is composed of three theoretical chapters, which are a summary of information about the topic and are drawn from the available literature. The next part of the thesis is the research part, in which three research questions were determined. The answers to these research questions were obtained through twenty-four semi-structured interviews, which were analyzed and processed using the open coding method.
Ethical Dilemmas Of Social Workers When Working With Clients Who Provide Sexual Services
KOCHLŐFLOVÁ, Monika
The aim of my diploma thesis is to formulate ethical dilemmas that social workers solve when working with sex workers and to analyze the most frequently mentioned dilemmas. The task of this diploma thesis is to describe and summarize ethical dilemmas. The collection of information was based on four semi-structured interviews with social workers. The work is divided into six chapters, in which I describe the target group, social work and its specifics with this target group. Other chapters are devoted to social work with sex workers, the role of the social worker and research methodology. The next chapter deals with the ethics of social work and the most common dilemmas of social workers. At the end of the work there is an analysis of the ethical dilemma of social work in the time of Covid from the perspective of the ethical theory of deontology and utilitarianism.

Development of cosmetic products with antimicrobial effect
Dribňáková, Barbora ; Wikarská, Monika (referee) ; Márová, Ivana (advisor)
The proposed bachelor's thesis focuses on the preparation and study of nanomaterials with antimicrobial properties. The nanofibers were synthesized from biopolymers using the forcespinning method, and liposomes were prepared using the sonification method. Active ingredients used in this work are tymol, carvacrol, and eugenol. The theoretical section of the thesis discusses the methods for preparing nanofibers and nanoparticles and the materials required for their synthesis. It also covers the encapsulation of active ingredients in nanomaterials. Additionally, this part explores the skin microbiome, antimicrobial effects, and the use of both natural and synthetic antimicrobial agents. The practical part of the thesis focuses on determining the polyphenol content and antioxidant activity of each active ingredient. The gradual release of active ingredients into saline solution and distilled water was determined for nanofibers synthesized from polyhydroxybutyrate with encapsulated active ingredients. Furthermore, it deals with the optimization of nanofiber synthesis from chitosan and polyamide using the forcespinning method. The functionalized liposomes were characterized in terms of their size, stability, encapsulation efficiency, and gradual release of active ingredients. The liposomes showed high stability even after several weeks, and their size ranged from 170.90 ± 1.63 nm to 243.07 ± 7.83 nm. Finally, the antimicrobial activity of the prepared products and active ingredients was tested against Cutibacterium acnes, Staphylococcus epidermidis, and Escherichia coli. The tested active ingredients in pure and encapsulated form, demonstrated antimicrobial effect against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. We assume the possibility of using the prepared nanomaterials in cosmetic products intended for the treatment of acne and other skin diseases, and also its use in the form of preservatives.
Parent and Authority: Parenting and Respecting Parents
ŠŤASTNÁ, Monika
The main aim of the thesis is to explain the concept of authority in the family, paren-ting in families and its styles. I am trying to suggest how authority and parenting can help or hurt a child with the child's development and the child's behavior itself. The thesis is composed of theoretical and practical part, where in the theoretical part it is divided into two main chapters namely authority, parenting. The practical part is fo-cused on the research investigation by the method of quantitative questionnaire. In the questionnaire I deal with the topic of parent and authority, where I try to find out by questions how nowadays respondents think about the authority and behaviour of their parents (those who raised them).
Jewellery as an art object.
MAKOVCOVÁ, Monika
This bachelor's thesis deals with a topic from the field of jewelry, which constitutes an integral aspect of human cultural history. The theoretical part of the work discusses jewelry, its functions and types, and also maps the development of jewelry in the period of ancient cultures. The practical part documents the process of crafting original porcelain jewelry, drawing loose inspiration from organic motifs and the cultural heritage of ancient Egypt.
Room Modes in Rectangular Rooms with Complex Impedance Boundaries
Jun, David ; Plasek, Josef ; Rychtarikova, Monika ; Glorieux, Christ
In many calculation approaches in room acoustics, one models the reflection of surfaces via a positive, real absorption coefficient, neglecting the fact that the reflection coefficient can have a non-zero phase. For some sound-absorbing structures such as resonators, this simplification leads to erroneous results, e.g. when room modes are of interest. This contribution presents an approach for the calculation of room mode frequencies in a rectangular room with complex and frequency-dependent acoustic impedance wall boundary conditions. The results are to be used for auralizations of different scenarios in which the modal behaviour of a room is modified, and for evaluation by listening tests.
