Deconstruction of Czechoslovak Identity on the Institutional Level after 1993
Hejpetrová, Vendula ; Havlíček, Tomáš (advisor) ; Kučera, Zdeněk (referee)
The bachelor thesis examines the deconstruction of Czechoslovak identity at the institutional level after 1993, when Czechoslovakia collapsed. Despite the dissolution of the Czechoslovak state formation, the concept of "Czechoslovakia/Czechoslovak" continued to be worked with, especially on an institutional level. The main aim of this thesis is to find out, through my research, the purpose of using the term "Czechoslovak" in the names of institutions more than three decades after the dissolution of Czechoslovakia. This research focuses on institutions founded before 1993 as well as those that were established after that date. The research was conducted using a qualitative method, namely semi-structured interviews with four respondents. This method gave a deeper understanding of the topic and provided a detailed view of the issue. The results suggest that the term "Czechoslovak" is still of great importance to the institutions, is highly valued by them and reflects not only the historical development and context of these institutions but also contributes to their identity and perception in the public space. Thus, the thesis represents a significant and primary contribution to the understanding of the deconstruction of Czechoslovak identity in institutional terms after 1993. Key words: Regional...
Religious conflicts in Europe - the model example of Judaism
Luňák, Václav ; Havlíček, Tomáš (advisor) ; Lepič, Martin (referee)
This bachelor thesis is a thorough analysis of European religious conflicts over the last fifty years. It focuses on the study of their dynamics, causes and consequences. It also explores the significant relationship between the religious conflicts associated with Judaism in Europe and the political and religious situation in Israel and the surrounding states. It analyses how these conflicts affect the dynamics of political and religious relations between Europe and the Middle East. It pays particular attention to the role that the growing Muslim population in Europe plays in anti-Semitic religious conflicts and the implications of these developments for regional stability. Last but not least, the paper analyses the localization of conflicts in Europe, with an emphasis on Western Europe. It determines whether there is a greater concentration of religious conflicts associated with Judaism in this part and what factors influence this situation. The first part of the thesis provides a comprehensive overview of religious conflicts in geographically defined Europe, examining their historical development and analysing the involvement of different religions in these disputes. The next part of the thesis pays particular attention to conflicts directed against the Jewish community. The main part then...

Spica/ Brno, Nove sady 49°11'20.3"N 16°36'29.4"E
Křenek, Roman ; Havlíček, Tomáš (referee) ; Nový, Vítězslav (advisor)
The new town hall for Brno Stred is the icing on the cake following the planned large-scale construction of the new Main Railway Station and the Trnitá district, which should connect this railway station with the historic center. Such a change will significantly affect the expression of the city center, and such a step definitely has to include a modern representative institution. The concept is situated on the edge of the historic center at the estuary of the planned boulevard of the Trnitá district in Nové sady, above which the dominant of Brno Petrov rises. For this reason, the design of the town hall must be sufficiently representative, but at the same time lowly towards the historic buildings. Along with this fact, I am trying to answer the question of what the town hall of the 21st century should look like.
City Library of Přerov
Špidlová, Kateřina ; Havlíček, Tomáš (referee) ; Nový, Vítězslav (advisor)
The goal of this thesis is a design of a public library in the historical part of the city of Přerov. The locality that’s beeing solved, so called Na Marku, is situated at the point where the three important pedestrian routes meet on the bank of the Bečva river. Attractivness of the place is well increased by the nearness of both the main squares, the river and the unique well-preserved underpass used in the past by the brewery. Every landscape, every city and place have their own memory. The locality „Na Marku“ is packed with memories that run back to the first settlements on the river bank, the construction of the city walls, and up to the recent reconstruction of the Tyrš bridge. Throughout the history the place was formed by the local inhabitans and their varoius activities. Those gave origin to historical and spatial layers that overlay and complement each other and have – in Přerov, as well as anywhere in the world – a huge influence on one’s identification with a familiar place. This is where the church used to be. This is the path that leads down to the river. This is where the lime-tree blossoms fall down like snow in summer. In my thesis I aim for truly understanding the “genius loci” and designing a building that would bring a new sense of life to this weary but memorable locality.

Society over the Sázava
Slováček, Jakub ; Havlíček, Tomáš (referee) ; Nový, Vítězslav (advisor)
The subject of the diploma thesis is based on the specific intention of the town Žďár nad Sázavou for the reconstruction of an original kindergarten building into a multifunctional building of a community center. The construction program counts on five different programs: the Community Center, the Day Center for Children and Youth (low-threshold facility working especially with children from socially disadvantaged families), the Club V 9 (Mental Health Support Center), the Social Services Directorate, and finally, a nursery (child group, up to 3 years of age). The proposed operational solution of the project perceives the continuity of development while respecting not only the relations of the different types of functions but also the situation on the land, respectively in the surrounding area. The addition of new volumes strengthens the position of the central superimposed mass, from which individual cells containing individual functions are exerted into the adjacent garden. The relationship between the horizontal pavilions in the garden and the elevated central mass is emphasized by its further elevation and the placement of the most specific part of the social hall into this "crown" of the object. An integral part of the reconstruction is the involvement of the community center, as a public building, into the public space. The land is thus partially accessible to several public areas, but with respect to the specifics of the different groups of users, the essential part of the land is left as closed gardens of individual services.
