Czech parliamentary elections in foreign media

This diploma thesis deals with the Czech parliamentary elections 2021 in the context of selected foreign media. The main goal of the work is to map the foreign media space in connection with the Czech autumn elections. Four research questions and hypotheses are linked to the aim of the thesis. Research questions and hypotheses deal with the range that has been devoted in selected articles to political leaders, political entities, but also personalization. The beginning of the work introduces the reader to the area of research and further introduces selected theoretical concepts related to the topic. The theoretical part describes personalization based on political communication and foreign news. The work also touches on the introduction of media systems, media effects, and the theory of agenda-setting. The next chapter deals with the research methodology, which contains used research methods and data analysis. In the practical part of the work, the key point is a quantitative content analysis of selected Slovak media, which are Denník N, Hospodárske noviny, and SME. The research also included a basic qualitative overview of selected media content from the United Kingdom and the United States of America.
