Electronic Information Resources: on the Example of Faculty of Medicine (1st, 2nd and 3rd), Charles University, Prague

The master thesis deals with the current state and prospects of electronic information resources in politicy of Faculty of Medicine (1st, 2nd and 3rd), Charles University, Prague. The first chapter briefly describes a development of all Faculties of Medicine. Furthermore the most important information about library information services are mentioned. The facts related to University Library and computer center who are the major college providers of services at the university, are discussed as well. This chapter also focus on common and distinct features of medical libraries. The libraries are characterized from this point of view: development, staff, equipment, acquisition policy, the fund structure, user profile and services. The thesis main part is devoted to comprehensive analysis and evaluation of acquisition, distribution and promotion of electronic information resources that libraries have available. The provided sources are briefly characterized at the beginning of the thesis main part. The chapter devoted to the acquisition discusses the most important participants of purchase which are one of the Ministries, university, major czech libraries and medical libraries themselves.
