Libor Dvorak as a translator of russian humoristic literature
Pozniak, Pavel ; Uličná, Olga (advisor) ; Stiessová, Jitka (referee)
This bachelor thesis is focused on the critical analysis of translation of the current Czech translator Libor Dvorak. The criticism addresses three short stories of three different authors - A.P. echov, M.M.Zošenko and S.D.Dovlatov. All of them subsequently came into existence in quite a short time, namely, between the years 1999 and 2005. The main device applied in the thesis was a method of critical study of the short stories based on a stylistic analysis of the original texts. The theoretical and critical analysis of each translation has resulted in creating the general profile of the current Czech translator. In other words, the main attempt is to show the method and style of his translation, the way he works with the original text and his ability of a faithful interpretation of the original work.
