Political communication on social media within the Covid-19 pandemic

The thesis is focused on the topic of political communication on the social media site Twitter during the first year of SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, specifically between 1.2.2020 - 31.1.2021. The main focus is on a few selected political actors from the Czech political establishment, specifically government officials and opposition political parties. Political communication of those selected actors was analysed using quantitative content analysis. As a part of this analysis, the author created multiple research questions to determine communication strategy of each selected actor. The analysis itself focused mainly on the frequency of occurrence of words related to pandemic, use of hashtags, and popularity factor within Twitter's network of users. As a unit of analysis was chosen each post published by the selected actor within the selected time frame. The author provided interpretation of each result throughout the thesis and also connects those results with created research questions in the thesis summary. The thesis ends with further ideas show to continue this research in the future.
