Karlasová, Eva ; Reifová, Irena (advisor) ; Bednařík, Petr (referee)
This diploma thesis "Generational Differences in Social Use of Audiovisual Contents" outlines the problems of the transforming nature of media audiences. The definition of new media, the concept of remediation, and the trend of media convergence are introduced. Attention is devoted to television and computer networks as mediators of audiovisual contents; as well as to theoretical principles related to qualitative audience research. The practical part consists of separate qualitative research, in which analysis is made to investigate a sample of twenty respondents - parents and their children. The method used is an in-depth interview with instructions. The outcome of this work is the typology of beneficiaries surveyed; description of the fundamental differences between generations that we have experienced in our research and a summary of what has changed in the social use of audiovisual media after the arrival of ICTs in surveyed households.
