SUMMARY: Legal aspects of human resources management At the beginning of the 21st century as much as in the past, the greater part of the population obtains the means for their living through participation in the labour market. Remuneration is not their only motive: people attempt to satisfy other needs such as pursuit of self-fulfilment, establishment of social contacts and overall development of individual personality. Work thus has significant impact on the evolution of society in general. On the level of a business entity, the available human resources, when efficiently organised and managed, can strongly affect the productivity and competitiveness of the venture. To attach sufficient weight to the importance of human resources is a precondition for a successful business. The author of this thesis graduated in Andragogy and Personnel Management and has several years of work experience in the field of personnel management. Because of this, her approach to the subject matter is one of a human resource manager who at the same time advances the interests of the employer and strives to respect and promote the legitimate needs of the employees.
