The problem of resocialization after the imprisonment

In addition to protecting society, imprisonment has another purpose in the form of reeducating a convicted people to a proper life in freedom and preparing to resocializing them. This bachelor thesis focuses on issues related to imprisonment, specifically on the impact on the life of the convicts. Above all, it deals with the problems that convicts have to face after their release in the resocialization process. The sentence has further consequences for the convicted. Family and social ties are disturbed, the individuals are stigmatized especially when searching for a job, they often find themselves in debt and have to face many repercussions. The thesis introduces the reader to the various aspects of imprisonment, from the rights and duties of the convicts, through their education and employment, to the exit department. The key part is to analyze the problem of the complicated return of convicts to everyday life. Their resocialization is a complicated process with many obstacles such as unemployment, indebtedness and lack of background. The resocialization of persons in duration of imprisonment and after serving a term of imprisonment

The purpose of imprisonment beyond the protection of the society is to educate the offender to lead an orderly life when he's released. It is practical to use that time, when offender is imprisoned, to positively influence him. Besides positive effects the imprisonment in criminogenous artificial environment has further consequences for offender. It leads to disruption of positive social relationships, social stigmatization, prisonisation, escalation of debts; it develops passivity of inmates and much more. These negative consequences lead to the question whether it is possible to obtain redress prisoners. This thesis deals with possibilities of rehabilitation of persons in prison and after they leave the prison. The text is focused on individual activities within penitentiary treatment programs especially labor activities and educational activities which represent suitable instruments for resocialization, but still belong among the most problematic area of penitentiary care. In the next part of diploma thesis the reader is introduced with current postpenitentiary care settings. Postpenitentiary care is provided both by state entities and NGOs. Resocialisation of persons after serving a term of imprisonment Diploma thesis discusses problem of resocialisation of persons after serving a term of imprisonment. The aim of thesis is to explain a process of resocialisation of inmates during their imprisonment and after it. Thesis also attempts to answer how effective is special treatment with inmates. The main focus is given to the ways how we try to reach resocialisaton of these persons, such as treatment programmes - especially employment of prisoners and institute of conditional release from serving a prison sentence. The final part of thesis deals with post-penitentiary care and points out huge problems disallowing successful resocialisation - indebtedness and impossibility to find a job after serving a term of imprisonment.
