Brno Trade Fairs Future

The architectural project of Exhibition Hall is located in a part of Brno-Pisárky, in northern area of BVV. The objective of the land-use planning and architectural proposal was to integrate the Hall in proximity to the second entry of BVV. The pavilion is situated on the primary northen axe, which perpendiculary join the pedestrian bridge. The binding foot-bridge is used for path between the entry of BVV and the western entry into the exhibition section. Surrounding the building is situated green park. There are open areas for pedestrian, tree-hemmed paths and relaxation spots around the entire building. The exhibition hall combines four basic parts: the western entrance connected with the pedestrian bridge, public part, storage part and the multi-purpose exhibition space in between. There are two-floor restaurant and snack bars with an open view to the south part of BVV, in particular to the Hall Z. The pavilion was concieved as a ruled rectangular volume. The creative proposal was to involve the ruled surface geometry, which is formed by connecting two curves with a series of straight lines and covers the entire building. The outer curtain wall is implied «the Curtains», reveals a lightness and airiness by dynamic effect. Geometrical curved profiles clearly point the basic entry spaces outside the exhibition hall. The western entry section allows two different points of entrance: from the pedestrian bridge to the first level and from the ground level. In time of trade fairs there are possibilities to use industrial doors along northern and southern elevations as a secondary entrances. There is a lobby space with the monumental staircase in the centre of public section. The circular shape of staircase rises towards atrium. A collaboration of atrium and natural lighting optically extends and makes easier the foyer space. Brownfield in Brno by the Svitava river. Proposal of conversion and completing of a part of the area in Brno – Husovice district, where you can find brownfield, as e.g. an old hall of former Zetor company. The goal is to design a functional district with respect to the original housing development. The territorial unit is designed so that it respects surrounding housing development and improves transportation situation. It complies with transportation connection to future reconstruction of Zbrojovka premises, for which a proposal is being designed. The main target is to create a comfortable place to live in and to cover basic needs of every person, to design interesting places for relaxation, cultural life, provide sports facilities and raise number of job opportunities in this area. The goal of this project is also to create a diverse place for living. Its meant for people from different social backgrounds and for people who use cars both with low frequency or who use them on a daily basis.
HOUSE ON THE FOOTHILL - TOWN HOUSE IN THE HISTORICAL CENTRE

Entering this thesis is to design a multifunctional urban / residential building in the complex topographical situation foot street bakery. The aim was to understand the functioning of the organism, its development potential and current problems. Solved plot is located in the heart of Old Brno at the intersection of Pekařská and Anenské. The concept of development should be based on a triangular plot, and its position in relation to the nearby center. The concept of functional layout must respect the basic operational and functional requirements, especially sunlight residential space and solving noise pollution. The aim of this proposal is viable urban area and a functional recovery, which evaluates and develops the character entered. Urban and architectural concept development triangular tip should reflect and complement the character of the site appropriately and its existing buildings.
REVITALIZATION OF CHURCH BUILDINGS - THE VICARAGE IN PŘÍTLUKY

Student Bc. Michaela Ráčková in her diploma thesis will be deal with a phenomenon of revitalization of church buildings, especially design of reconversion of the former vicarage and its surroundings in the village Přítluky in South Moravia. Church buildings as churches, vicarages, convents have always been determining and dominant element in the formation of settlements. Their clear and often privileged position in the structure of settlements was determined by relationship of man to faith. This position remained them despite many ups and downs and church buildings still play an important role in the environment in which we live.
Design of Park Bench

This work deals with design of park bench. The first part analyzes a design of this element of street furniture in terms of history and the present time. The second part deals with own design solution. The main purpose was to design an elegant modern bench that will revive a look of public spaces of the contemporary city by interesting way. The bench was designed with respect to aesthetics, ergonomy, manufacturability and other essential aspects of industrial design.
Family house in Czechoslovakia after 1945

The main part of the doctoral thesis analyses the form of terraced housing in Czechoslovakia in the years 1945-1990. It searches for the original roots, the principles of formation and the characteristic types. The purpose was to find an answer to the question of where its values lie, because the state-controlled standardization negatively influenced the appearance of an average terraced house. The quest of seeking positive approaches the pre-war development of terraced housing and examines parallels between the groups of the 70s and the present. The subject is embedded in the wider framework of the state housing policy and its impact on the character of the new development. The thesis focuses on the period of the 70s, when family development culminat-ed. The main part analyzes three selected groups of terraced houses from the seventies. It is based on the study of available project documentations, which was made accessible by the archives of building authorities. Selected groups are considered in terms of public space and new types of terraced houses. The thesis highlights the diversity of typologi-cal forms of terraced houses of this period. The last part is devoted to the characteristics of terraced housing after 1990. The thesis summarizes the causes of the negative phenomena in suburban locations and shows the transformation of typical terraced houses. It analyses new approaches in urban development of family houses on selected groups. In the context of new concepts, it researches the solutions of public space and types of terraced houses. Finally, the thesis summarizes the transformation of the urban development of the terraced housing from 1945 to the present and proposes the other areas and problems suitable for exploration. The annexed documentary studies of three selected groups from the seventies, which were only partially published. Parts of the appendix are bar charts that evaluate the extent of the family development in individual time periods from 1945 to the present.
