Negative externality associated with driving under the influence of alcohol

This thesis answers the question how big is the negative externality associated with driving under the influence of alcohol in crowns per kilometer driven by the driver with alcohol in blood. The calculation includes the economic consequences of accidents, specifically, loss of production, the cost of health care, administration and social expenditures, included are also the values of lost human lives and values for heavy and light injuries. Calculation of externality is used to determine the fine that internalizes this externality.

Are the criminals Opportunistic? (Analysis of copper prices influence at number of copper thefts)

The thesis examines on daily and monthly data for 4 Prague Districts in 2004 to 2010 how to purchase price of copper affects of copper thefts. Among control variables are other types of thefts and unemployment. It has been shown that with increasing purchase price of copper increases the number of copper thefts. An increasing number of copper thefts is not due to overall increase in crime. Unemployment decreases the number of copper thefts, but is insignificant. The daily data demonstrate that the decision to steal copper is influenced by weather, day of week and holidays. The rain increases the probability of copper theft, weekends and holilys reduce it.
