The use of art therapy in working with the elderly in a day care centre

This bachelor's thesis explores therapeutic procedures, techniques and methods suitable for working with a group of elderly clients. The theoretical part is focused on specific requirements of the selected age group, the problems of aging and the associated physical, mental and psychological changes. The text also summarizes art therapy in general and its division. In addition, this part focuses on art therapy in group settings and techniques suitable for working with elderly individuals. The practical part of the work documents the author's management of a group of elderly clients in the ambulatory care facility Domovinka in Třebíč. The chapter describes the process of the program preparation, the program implementation and it summarizes the outcomes of the collaboration between the author and the clients. The text is supplemented by extensive reflection and photo documentation of artifacts and of the creative process.
Children in an oppressive family situation and their experience with art therapy

This baccalaureate thesis deals with analysis of the experiences children in difficult life situations gained from art therapy. The first aim of this thesis is to describe the kind of experience (positive or negative) a child gets through the means of group art therapy in an institution called Fond ohrožených dětí (FOD) Klokánek. The second aim of this thesis is to find out how the children perceive art therapy and what new things it will bring them. Another aim of this thesis is a detailed analysis of the things children get from both changing and invariable components of art therapy and the way they can use them in their future lives. To elaborate this topic qualitative research was chosen. The following methods were used: participant observation, unstructured interview, and content analysis of the notes from observations and also of the personal data of the children (artifacts). Twelve children from Klokánek were use as the target sample. The introductory part of the thesis is devoted to the history of the research. Artetherapy as one of the remedies in the context of ingestion disorders

This bachelor work is focused on group therapy of patients suffering from eating disorder especially Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa. On selected artefacts the authoress evaluates the benefit of Art Therapy and passes judgment about the artistic progress depending on the medical treatment. She also points the potentialities of Art Therapy and is ambitious to specify the creative expression of patients.
