The use of TIME management in nursing practice
RATHOVÁ, Lenka
The bachelor thesis deals with the use of the TIME management concept in the practice of nursing. The theoretical part presents knowledge related to wound management, with the primary focus on the concept of TIME management and its use in nursing. In the empirical part, the first objective was to compare the knowledge of the TIME management concept in terms of the education of the nursing staff. The study's second objective was to find out the kind of experience nurses have in TIME management. The third and last objective was to map whether, an000d to what extent, TIME management is being used in selected wards. To meet the objectives, three hypotheses were formulated. The objectives were achieved through quantitative research using a non-standardized questionnaire. The research population included general nurses working in selected wards in the Klatovy hospital. The total number of respondents was 140. The results obtained verified that respondents with higher education more often declared knowledge of the rating scales (p = 0.006), reflecting the importance of educational background when preparing to provide effective care to non-healing wounds. When assessing the level of experience with TIME management, there were no significant changes in wound parameter scores, which related to respondents' length of experience. It was also found that the use of therapeutic methods in TIME management varied by type and specialization of the ward, which is primarily related to the frequency of the occurrence of non-healing wounds in a given workplace.

Knowledge of nurses about methods of treatment of the leg ulcer
Dvouletá, Zuzana ; Sojková, Monika (advisor) ; Pekara, Jaroslav (referee)
The topic of this thesis is "Knowledge of nurses about methods of treatment of the leg ulcer". The purpose of this thesis was to document current methods of treatment of the leg ulcer and to evaluate nurse's knowledge of this area. The thesis is divided into two sections - a theoretical and an empirical one. The theoretical section is devoted to the leg ulcer as a term and its causes, then it concerns wound healing and factors, which it is influenced by. It also describes the currently used methods of treatment of the leg ulcer and other chronic wounds. The empirical section is based on a quantitative research performed as a questionnaire study, which has been carried out in medical and surgical wards in three teaching hospitals in Prague. The goal of this research was to determine nurse's knowledge of chronic wounds, the leg ulcer, its risk factors and prevention, of wound healing, compression therapy and to find out, in which ways nurses get access to information on wound healing and treatment of the leg ulcer. This goal was met. The findings of the research are summarized in the conclusion of the thesis. Key words: moist wound healing; leg ulcer; wound; chronic wound; debridement; compression therapy; nursing care

Therapeutic bandages and their aplication in nursing care
PÁLKOVÁ, Hana
Abstract The topic of the bachelor thesis is ``Therapeutic Bandages and Their Utilization in Nursing Care{\crqq}. Therapeutic bandages have currently been one of the options how to treat wounds. Wound treatment by means of these bandages is faster and more efficient, provided that the bandages are correctly selected. The theoretical part of the bachelor thesis contains a brief description of skin, wounds and wound healing process, including documentation, wound debridement, division of rinsing solutions, therapeutic bandages, re-bandaging of wounds, a psychological approach of a nurse to a patient, and an article on the Česká společnost pro léčbu chronické rány (Czech Association for Chronic Wound Treatment). The bachelor thesis has two objectives and four hypotheses. Objective 1: To ascertain practical utilization of the methods using therapeutic bandages. Three hypotheses were raised in this respect. Hypothesis 1: Nurses prefer conservative methods to therapeutic bandages. Hypothesis 2: Nurses apply therapeutic bandages inappropriately. Hypothesis 3: Wet healing is used more in hospitals than in consulting rooms of general practitioners and home-care agencies. Objective 2: To ascertain awareness of nurses in healthcare facilities of wet healing. One hypothesis was raised in order to attain this objective. Hypothesis 4: Nurses are not sufficiently informed about wet healing. The objectives have been attained by means of a quantitative research using the technique of questionnaires. The research set consisted of 108 nurses from the selected wards in Nemocnice České Budějovice, a.s. (Hospital of České Budějovice) and Fakultní nemocnice Královské Vinohrady (Královské Vinohrady University Hospital), nurses from consulting rooms of general practitioners and nurses from home-care agencies in České Budějovice. The research has provided answers to the hypotheses. Hypothesis 1 has not been confirmed; nurses prefer therapeutic bandages. Hypothesis 2 has not been confirmed; nurses apply the bandages correctly. Hypothesis 3 has been confirmed; wet healing is used more in hospitals. Hypothesis 4 has not been confirmed; nurses are sufficiently informed about wet healing of wounds. This thesis may be used as an informational or educational material aimed at improving the quality of provision of nursing care with regard to usage of therapeutic bandages.
