Proposal for a redesign of the exoterium of ZOO Brno
Kalábková, Tereza ; Boháč, Ivo (referee) ; Šindlar, Jiljí (advisor)
This bachelor´s thesis focuses on the redesign of Exoteria in the Brno Zoo, where the current structure is outdated and aesthetically unpleasing, barely meeting the needs of birds and lacking the necessary attractiveness for a facility of this kind. The goal of the thesis is to propose an innovative and functional solution in the form of four functional units: a bird pavilion, an aquarium pavilion, facilities for staff, and a refreshment facility. The architectural design combines an ecological approach with the concept of open architecture, aiming to connect visitors with nature and animals. It offers an open space in the outdoor aviary of the bird pavilion and features a green element with a vegetative façade for the refreshment facility. The aquarium pavilion is envisioned as a multifunctional center for meetings and education, allowing for lectures, film screenings, and other cultural events that connect visitors with the underwater world. The thesis delves into the details of the aquarium pavilion and the refreshment facility. The proposal involves the removal of overgrown vegetation and trees, with a priority on minimizing impacts on the natural environment. Simultaneously, the thesis suggests replanting new trees to preserve ecological balance. The work is based on the architectural design studio in the fourth year, with a focus on interior design.
Exotarium
Přítulová, Anna ; Wittmann, Maxmilian (referee) ; Šindlar, Jiljí (advisor)
The topic of the bachelor thesis is the Exotárium pavilion in the Brno ZOO, which supposed to replace the existing building, which no longer meets the spatial, hygienic or technical requirements. The building is located in the center of the ZOO area at the intersection of several visitor routes. Conceptually, the design is divided into two buildings – the tropics pavilion dedicated to Papua New Guinea and pavilion of inland Australia. These two buildings are connected on the underground level by a technical floor. Areas for animals are adapted for the breeding of exotic birds, small mammals and fish. The pavilion is divided longitudinally into three tracts – technical and hygienic facilities, corridors for visitors and indoor aviaries. The building is equipped both for the preparation of feed and the care of animal health, as well as for the rearing of young. In the center of the layout is the central space for visitors and the Water world. The extended area of the corridor is equipped with furniture and presentation equipment, which can also be used for lectures and events for schools. The dominant element of the space for visitors is the acoustic ceiling consisting of prisms of different lengths of green wood wool. This ceiling is intended to create the impression of a canopy of a tropical forest. The curved wall between the aviaries and the corridor is intended to offer unconventional views into the aviaries, but still provide the animals with sufficient privacy. The building is serviced through a staff entrance on the south-east side of the building and the technical facilities are accessible via an unpaved road on the underground level from the south-west slope below the Australia pavilion building. This route is only used to transport the technological equipment of the building. The building, with its predominantly gray and contrasting interior, corresponds with the Australia pavilion, where more earthy colors are used. The buildings are united mainly by the facade and are connected by the construction of through external aviaries.
New exotarium at ZOO Brno
Charvátová, Karolína ; Boháč, Ivo (referee) ; Šindlar, Jiljí (advisor)
The subject of the bachelor thesis is the preparation of project documentation for construction permits and part of the documentation for the implementation of the construction on the basis of the assignment, which was provided in the course BGA036 - Architectural Design Studio 5 in the summer semester Year 3 on the topic of interior design, which was later extended to public buildings. The topic of the study is the design of a new exotarium at the Brno Zoo. The plot of land in question is located on the territory of the Brno Zoo in the South Moravian Region. The concept of the architectural design was to create modern and hygienic spaces for a dignified life of animals in captivity and at the same time to allow visitors to have a glimpse into animal life and behaviour. It is a two-storey, partly basemented building with an open interior space that is divided into two main sections - aquatic life and air life. The basic idea of the project is to provide enough space for animal life in the pavilion, and therefore a large dome-shaped aviary is created for the birds, extending over the entire roof of the building. For fish, large aquariums are created. There is also a lecture room, staff facilities and thermal engineering facilities in the building. All functions of the building have their necessary facilities.

Lebedev, Ilya ; Myslín,, Jiří (referee) ; Boleslavská, Yvona (advisor) ; Brzoň, Roman (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with documentation for obtaining a building permit approval and documentation for building aquarium factory. The work is based on earlier created study of the subject AG033. Bukovany is a village in Hodonín district in the South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic. This plot is almost near the eastern border of the village. The land is sloping, relatively narrow and long. The shape of the estate greatly influenced the location of the building and the connection to the existing roads. There is good availability for supply and shipping. The factory is divided into four above-ground interconnected buildings with different functions. All objects are without basement and have only one floor. On the southern side of the plot is located a representative administrative part of the building, which surrounds the main factory building. It is possible to drive into the main production hall by a truck and to handle large and heavy glass panes by means of a bridge crane. The manufacturing process of gluing has high demands on the illumination of the premises, therefore it is illuminated by the Lightway Maximus roof skylights and the windows around the perimeter of the hall. This production hall is directly connected to the warehouse and joinery space. The construction system of the production objects is prefabricated, based on monolithic nibs. The part of the building, which serves as a warehouse has a brick walls. The eastern and most sloping part of the plot is filled with greenery. There is an artificial small lake in front of the administrative part of the building.
Production buildings, Production of aquariums in Brno
Baková, Erika ; Klement, Miloš (referee) ; Boleslavská, Yvona (advisor) ; Bečkovský, David (advisor)
The aim of the bachelor thesis was to design a new industrial production hall for the production of aquariums for the company Akváriá Pavlica in Horní Heršpice. This project is based on an architectural study, which was developed within the subject AG035. The area of interest is located in the city part of Brno, Horní Heršpice. The plot is located at the edge of the suburban part of the city near the railway station. The building is located in the centre of the plot and is accessible by sidewalks for pedestrians, access roads with parking for cars and a bus, and a road with a handling area for trucks. Part of the design of the production hall was also the design of a water area on the plot, which would serve for representative purposes. The mass of the building consists of six trapezoidal modular blocks stacked together. The roof pitch and the leaning walls create a dynamic shape. The building envelope consists of sandwich panels and a glazed facade made of triple insulation glass, which together provide thermal insulation to the interior. The glass facade illuminates the exhibition and administrative area. The building is divided into four zones: the public zone, the production zone, the administrative zone and the technical building equipment zone. The interior partitions are made of lime-sand blocks, but the main supporting system of the building is a reinforced concrete skeletal structure. On pillars are placed steel trusses that support the roof structure. The roof surface is designed as a vegetation area and there are placed photovoltaic panels.

The aim of this bachelor thesis it to design a new building for manufacturing aquariums. This project is based on a study which was made in subject named AG032. Popovice is located in Zlínský region in Uherské Hradiště district. The building plot is located outside of the living area of Popovice and it’s near of a very busy road - E50. Form of the building works on the shape of the building plot which is very limiting. It’s relatively narrow and on the north part it has a protective zone from railway track. Visually, the building can be divided to three parts which have different height – administration with production, showroom and joinery. The look of the building is really simple. Conceptually the building is based on long shape of a production and administration part and walk-through entrance hall. This divides employees and people who are visiting this area. The long look is multiplied by strip windows and cantilever part of the 2nd floor. Showroom and the joinery copy the shape of this plot and use the maximum area of it – one of the perimeter walls is parallel with border of the plot. The primary task of the design is to create an area where everything is well connected and collision-free. This building has no cellar and on the south side it has two storey. Structural system of the showroom is made from masonry system. The rest of the building is made from reinforced concrete skeletal structure – the part for administration is from cast-in-place concrete and the other part is prefabricated.
