Image processing software for infrared thermography study during radio frequency ablation
Zemčíková, Petra ; Sedlář, Martin (referee) ; Bernard, Vladan (advisor)
This thesis deals with principle and device of radiofrequency ablation technique, infrared imaging systems with a focus on non-contact measurement of surface temperatures, process of representation and detection of infrared radiation. On the next part of the thesis are described methods of image processing with an emphasis on the methods used in the software for processing infrared radiofrequency ablation images. The thesis also includes the design and the description of the created software for evaluating the effect of duration of ablation, used power or position of the electrodes and the stent to the stent heating.
The application of thermography in endovascular surgery
Kyjovský, Ondřej ; Harabiš, Vratislav (referee) ; Rozman, Jiří (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with the using of thermography as a supporting diagnostic method for endovascular thermoablative treatment of varicose veins. The principle of IRT is the detection of infrared radiation. The main goal of this thesis is to compare how temperature of the area changes before the surgery, during the surgery, immediately after the surgery and in the postoperative period in the interval of one week in radio frequency induced thermotherapy (RFITT) and endovascular laser therapy (EVLT).
Analysis of intracardiac electrogram, depending on transmurality of ablation lesions at catheter radiofrequency ablation of cardiac arrythmias
Žbánková, Alena ; Kozumplík, Jiří (referee) ; Kolářová, Jana (advisor)
Catheter ablation is a unique method for cardiac arrhythmias treatment based on creating spot lesions of radiofrequency energy using intracardiac ablation catheter. Transmurality of these lesions should be achieved for long-term therapeutic treatment effect. The degree of myocardial damage depth is reflected in the parameters of sensed intracardiac ECG. From research studies is evident that the change in morphology and deflection of ablation signal play a key role in the assessment of transmurality. This thesis consists of theoretical introduction to electrophysiology, proposal and realization of methods for objective assessment of transmurality by processing signals in time, frequency and time – frequency domain. The end of this diploma thesis includes the statistical analysis of these clinical dat and comparison of methods.
Early esophageal neoplasia: etiology, pathophysiology, pathogenesis and treatment. Barrett's esophagus and early esophageal adenocarcinoma
Krajčíová, Jana ; Martínek, Jan (advisor) ; Dolina, Jiří (referee) ; Bureš, Jan (referee)
Background: Barrett's esophagus (BE) is a premalignant condition defined by replacement of normal esophageal squamous-cell epithelium by cylindrical epithelium with intestinal metaplasia (IM). Patients with BE associated neoplasia (BORN) are candidates for endoscopic treatment. The aims of our studies were: (1) analysis of long-term efficacy of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and evaluation of risk factors for persistent/ recurrent neoplasia/ IM; (2) to assess the results and safety of confocal laser endomicroscopy (CLE) compared to standard biopsies in patients after successful endoscopic treatment of BORN; (3) to assess the sampling quality obtained by different types of forceps; and (4) to assess "de novo" reflux after peroral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) and its severity (the risk of development of further complications). Patients and methods: We performed a total of 4 studies. (1) In a retrospective RFA study we evaluated data of 136 patients treated endoscopically for BORN in 4 centers in the Czech Republic. (2) In a prospective, pathologist-blinded, CLE study, we evaluated concordance in the detection of IM or neoplasia with CLE compared to standard biopsies in 56 patients who underwent standard surveillance endoscopy. (3) In a prospective study comparing 4 types of forceps, we evaluated the...

IntactTM BLES (breast lesion excision system) and the radiology assistant role in the introducing new instruments into the practice
NEDVĚDOVÁ, Michaela
The Intact BLES (Breast Lesion Excision System) system is a new radiological method belonging to the area of radiological intervention on the female mammary gland generally called mammotome. These performances in radiology belong to the most modern and their development has been observed during the last 10 years. Mammotome primary task is to obtain larger representative tissue samples from suspicious location in the breast while there are 15 tissue samples taken in average. After about 10 years we proceed from this type of repeated simple mechanical tissue removal, even in the presence of vacuum, to a new mammotome method. This is a simple one-time tissue removal using radiofrequency energy. Also this process uses a vacuum, although in this case vacuum is only used for gases and liquids extraction from the location immediately adjacent to the sampling area and thereby to retain the correct parameters during cauterization. Compared to the older type of performance that takes a much shorter time and is much better tolerated by patients. But the greatest advantage of this method is the possibility to capture the whole breast lesion up to diameter 2 cm bearing size. Bachelor thesis contain a detailed description of the new methods and radiology assistant tasks, breast interventions statistical data from the archive MOÚ (Masaryk Memorial Cancer Institute) and also data from the regular interventional breast examinations, which are a common radiology assistant work. Drawing up these bachelor thesis there were also Czech and foreign literature resources, scientific publications and magazines including Internet sources used. I was looking up for primarily technical specifics and partly physical laws relating to the new device IntactTM BLES. The study included women examined in Brno Masaryk Memorial Cancer Institute in the period of February 2012 - July 2012, which were diagnosed suspicious discovery with subsequent recommendations for its mammotome removal.
