Music education of children with visual impairment in elementary art schools from the perspective of educators
BUJNOVSKÁ, Pavlína
The topic of the bachelor's thesis is oriented towards the music education of visually impaired pupils from the perspective of teachers. The goal is to process current knowledge related to the above-mentioned topics of work and then to describe the work with a visually impaired student from the point of view of music teachers. The bachelor thesis has two parts: theoretical and practical. The theoretical part is elaborated on current literature and is divided into three basic chapters. The first part defines the concept of visual impairment and presents different types of classification and the possibilities of using higher compensatory senses for visually impaired pupils. The second chapter is devoted to the legislative anchoring of elementary art schools, preparation for teaching, the education of visually impaired pupils in elementary art schools, and the importance of music for visually impaired pupils. The last chapter focuses on everyone, including the communication between the student and the music teacher and the recognition of personality from them. The practical part of the work includes a questionnaire survey supplemented by qualitative research in the form of an unstructured, in-depth interview. A total of 18 music teachers completed the survey. An interview was then conducted with a teacher from a elementary art school. The research shows that the opinions and experiences of teachers in elementary art schools are of considerable importance in the musical education of a visually impaired child. The personality traits of the teacher and the visually impaired student meet each other during music education. The awareness of teachers in elementary art schools regarding the specifics of the education of visually impaired pupils depends on their professional experience. The teacher, who took part in the research, who has more than 10 years experience, prove that long-term effective cooperation and communication between the teacher and the family are of fundamental importance in the musical development of pupils with visual impairments.
The possibilities of developing specific competencies in the sphere of spatial orientation and indivudual movement of pupils with visual impairment in primary school education
BAČÁKOVÁ, Helena
This bachalero´s thesis is called The possibilities of developing specific competencies in the sphere of spatial orientation and individual movement of pupils with visual impairment in primary school education reports differences of special needs (regulation §16 sect. 9) vs. nonspecial needs schools for spatial orientation and independent movement of visually impaired pupils. The goal of this work is to confirm or deny that special needs schools create better outcomes for developing the competencies mentioned above. Also, we verify if special needs schools offer more hours of SOIM classes per week than the regular schools. To achieve these goals, visual impairment studies of spatial orientation and individual movement of visually impaired pupils was referenced. We also referenced studies focused on inclusive and special needs education and legal educational regulations. Another step taken to obtain the results was a quantity and quality combined research. The tools used to collect data in the research were the structured interviews and questionnaires. In the final part of this work, researched data is analysed. The analysis shows that hours of SOIM classes per week are the same in both school types (special needs and non-special needs). We found that better conditions for the outcome of SOIM classes are provided by special needs schools but at the same time children are socially segregated. Spatial orientation and individual movement are very demanding to manage. Another factor making this problem difficult is a lack of public awareness.
Creation of instructional materials for selected sports leisure activities of children with visual impairment
DVOŘÁKOVÁ, Jana
This bachelor thesis is focused on the methodology of teaching selected sports activities in schools for pupils with visual impairment. For the purpose of this thesis there were chosen three sport activities: ice skating, cycling and swimming. The aim was to create videos that will serve as instructional material for physical education teachers in schools for pupils with visual impairment, but also for parents of pupils with visual impairment. The theoretical part defines terminology and legislation connected with the issue of teaching physical education of pupils with visual impairment. The following chapters describe the current educational system of children and pupils with visual impairment. The theoretical part concludes with a description of the methodology of ice skating, cycling and swimming, which is modified for the needs of pupils with visual impairment. The practical part is based on interviews with teachers who teach physical education at primary schools for pupils with visual impairment. Based on these interviews, instructional videos that describe the methodology of teaching skating, swimming and tandem biking to pupils with visual impairments have been created.
The first introduction to electronic assistive devices for children with visual impairments in the instructional course.
PŘIBYLOVÁ, Hana
This First Degree (Bachelor) Thesis deals with the course in Operation of electronic compensatory aids. The course was attended by two clients with severe visual impairment for whom methodological guidelines in the form of codes of practice were created. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. Further, the theoretical part is divided into six chapters the first of which is focused on visual impairment. The second chapter deals with the development of individuals suffering from visual impairment. The next chapter seeks to define the education of persons suffering from visual impairment and the related specialized pedagogical counselling. The fourth chapter bears on specialized pedagogical counselling for persons suffering from visual impairment. The fifth chapter applies to social rehabilitation and brings a presentation of consultancy facilities dealing with social rehabilitation as well. The last chapter describes compensatory aids for persons suffering from visual impairment. The goal of this thesis is to optimize a part of the existing course in Operation of electronic compensatory aids by adapting the codes of practice for the use by clients suffering from visual impairment. A partial aim consists in gaining knowledge about the course in Operation of electronic compensatory aids through a debate with the instructor of course and, based on the instructor?s recommendation, to specify a theme that will be worked out in the codes of practice subsequently. Another aim of the thesis consists also in creating a guidance document that will contribute to a higher level of the course in Operation of electronic compensatory aids and in subsequent verification thereof in practice. In accordance with the objectives set relevant research questions have been defined. For the achievement of the objectives set qualitative research was assigned and the following methods were used for the data collection. The first method applied is structured interview. The interview was conducted with the instructor of the course in Operation of electronic compensatory aids. Based on the interview outcomes, the theme was designed that was developed into four codes of practice later on. The second method adopted in the research survey was observation through participation. There were defined observation categories corresponding to the partial aims of the thesis which were entered into the record sheet covering the observations to be realized. The last method employed was the method of secondary analysis of the clients? personal documentation. The research itself was carried out in the course of the period from February to mid- April in the premises of Tyflokabinet České Budějovice, o.p.s., the institution that is realizing the course in Operation of electronic compensatory aids. The group subject to research consisted of a sightless pupil and a partially sighted pupil. The result of my work represents an original methodological document. Thanks to the evaluation of the subject matter presented at the end of each lesson, it was found that the codes of practice were, on the other hand, beneficial to the course in Operation of electronic compensatory aids and, on the other hand, contributed to the understanding of the subject matter treated. Based on observations, I found that the teaching lesson of the course is influenced by the time of one hour allotted to the course and by the attention of attending clients, too. Based on the observations realized we can say that various games and activities can be made up that are intended for the practicing of the subjects discussed, however, the time allotted to the course teaching, viz. 60 minutes, must be taken into consideration. It has been proven that the 60 minutes were often not sufficient for discussing all the subjects prepared, still the time of 60 minutes is too long for maintaining the attention of the clients.
