Inhabitants of Hlučínsko-region in the Czechoslowak foreign army in the West
Neminář, Jiří ; Čechurová, Jana (advisor) ; Plachý, Jiří (referee)
The thesis deals with the almost unknown theme - the soldiers from the district of Hlucin serving in the Czechoslovakian foreign legions in the West. Using the example of the inhabitants of the Hlucin area, it shows the conditions under which the former Wermacht soldiers' recruitment to the Czechoslovakian army had taken place. It tries to give a true picture of the specifics of the participants from the district of Hlucin in the foreign revolt and to outline the possible motivation for the decision to enter the foreign legions, the way the soldiers presented themselves in front of the interrogating officers as well as different views of their evaluation from the Czechoslovakian officers' perspective. The goal of the thesis is to show the almost unknown reality of their military service besides Wehrmacht and to bring the total number and ranks of the soldiers from the district of Hlucin within the Czechoslovakian troops to light. Both the quantitative analysis based on the list of the individual soldiers and several qualitative analyses dealing mostly with military draft and interrogation documents helped to reach the goal. Besides, the fonds of various military institutions and the local Hlucin authorities were also taken into account.

Němcová, Veronika ; Spurný, Matěj (advisor) ; Čechurová, Jana (referee)
The bachelor thesis Society in the Hlučín region between the two World Wars / National identity forming exemplified by the educational system deals with the theme of national identity of this specific region whose history was very different from that of the rest of the newly formed Czechoslovak Republic. It attempts to illustrate the development of local ethno- national tensions from 1920 to 1938 while demonstrating that these conflicts were driven more by general national and strategic interests than on real interests of the local population. From the broader perspective of the specific situation of the Hlučín region in the economic, political and religious sphere the thesis highlights the educational system as a key area of conflict, linked to the efforts to achieve linguistic hegemony. It describes the conditions and context that exercised a profound influence on national identity forming in the Hlučín region.
