Heat exchanger design for condensing boiler
Plott, Patrik ; Linda, Jakub (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
This master's thesis is aimed at the optimization of a gas condensing boiler for domestic heating. The optimization consisted in the design of a new secondary plate heat exchanger for domestic hot water heating using analytical calculation and subsequent CFD simulation of heat transfer and pressure loss. Various designs of plate heat exchangers were proposed. Subsequently, the results of the analytical calculation were compared with the results of the CFD simulation and their mutual conformity with each other was evaluated. After analysing the results of each variant, the proposed plate heat exchanger designs were compared with the currently used heat exchanger. Finally, we identified the best possible solution to replace the current exchanger.
Deposition of particles released by 3D printing
Niesner, Lukáš ; Elcner, Jakub (referee) ; Bělka, Miloslav (advisor)
This thesis deals with the measurement of particles emitted by a 3D printer in a domestic environment and the subsequent CFD simulation of the deposition of these particles in a realistic model of the human airway. As a result of the work, the total and partial deposition of nanoparticles in the airway model can help to better understand the health risks.
Comparison of different method for calculation of velocity field in centrifugal pump impeller
Trnčík, Tino ; Bezdíček, Jiří (referee) ; Štefan, David (advisor)
This master´s thesis deals with the design of impeller of radial centrifugal pump from the point of view of prediction of velocity field in meridional plane. To achieve this, a software combining potential flow method with Francis’s method of velocity field prediction was used. This results to 6 designs, which represent both methods and simultaneously a combination of both. Also, an own design is proposed using basic empirical relations. All this design proposals are then compared with each other and with original geometry of radial pump with n_s=135,36 min^(-1).When evaluating results, greatest emphasis is placed on comparison of predicted velocity field with the one obtained by using CFD simulations. And how well the prediction stacks up to the simulations and how the finite number of blades, their thickness and other factors affects resulting velocity field.
Heat exchanger for thermal management systems of battery modules of electric vehicles: experiment and simulation
Grygar, Jan ; Mráz, Kryštof (referee) ; Boháček, Jan (advisor)
This thesis deals with a heat exchanger made of polymeric hollow fibers. The first part is devoted to the heat generated during charging and discharging processes. The cooling performance at different loads is experimentally tested and the effect of the flow rate on the battery temperature is observed. And a CFD simulation is performed using an opensource program OpenFOAM to see how the flow rate is distributed in the different branches of the heat exchanger.
Ventilation of sports hall
Urban, Ondřej ; Blasinski, Petr (referee) ; Uher, Pavel (advisor)
The master thesis deals with flow modeling in the CFD program. By means of which the opti-mal version of the air distribution diffuser in the sports hall will be selected. The first variant will bring fresh air through textile diffusers. The second variant will bring fresh air through flooded large circular diffusers. The tested parameter of the indoor environment will be the flow velocity and the age of the air. The better-performing version will be processed as an implementation documentation.
Analysis of The Effects of Wind on The Steel Ventilated Facade
Kloss, Tomáš ; Žák,, Antonín (referee) ; Hron, Lukáš (advisor)
This master´s thesis analyzes an effect of wind load on the ventilated facade claddings. The analysis is performed on the various types of facades, from unventilated to ventilated facades with a different geometrical arrangement of facade shell. The theoretical part describes the basic knowledge about the theory of flow, turbulence modeling, determining an optimal domain, verification of the calculation model and user interface in the ANSYS software. The final part compares the value of the wind load reduction depending on the change of the gap widths and the size of ventilated spaces. The resulting values are obtained by CFD simulations. The thesis includes a design and an assessment of the steel hall construction.
Intake Control Mechanism of Compressor Housing
Bartoníček, Richard ; Doman, Jozef (referee) ; Novotný, Pavel (advisor)
The thesis pursues a design of mechanism for controlling the amount of air sucked by a turbocharger compressor. In the first part, there is a brief description of a turbocharger and its characteristics, in the second part the usual regulation methodologies are presented. Third, the main part describes the creation of the mechanism from concept drafts and their comparison, through the kinematic and force analysis of control parts, to the complete packaging a connection to the compressor housing. The fourth part is dedicated to the mechanism analysis in the terms of ability to perform as required.
Parametric Study of Air Heat Exchanger
Podola, David ; Volavý, Jaroslav (referee) ; Fišer, Jan (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the impact of changes in operating and geometrical parameters of regenerative heat exchanger on the efficiency of decentralized ventilation units with heat recovery. Decentralized ventilation unit can be used for ventilation of family houses or smaller administration buildings. Output of this work is to determine the efficiency of a particular produced model of decentralized ventilation unit and overview of the possibilities increased efficiency of heat recovery of this units.
Computational modelling of aerodynamic noise caused by the car’s side mirror
Vobejda, Radek ; Hájek, Petr (referee) ; Švancara, Pavel (advisor)
The master’sthesis deals with numerical modelling of aerodynamic noisewhich arisesinside of the carcabin. In the first part ofthe thesis simplified model of geometry of the car and of the inside acoustic pressure arecreated. After that numerical analysis of created models of geometry are doneandvarious models of turbulenceare discussed. The results of these CFD simulationswhere then used for changing the model of geometry of the wing mirror. Outputs of these simulations were used for solving the numerical analysis of noise in the car cabin.
Simplified modelling of tube bank heat exchanger in CFD
Cacková, Tereza ; Juřena, Tomáš (referee) ; Vondál, Jiří (advisor)
The master thesis deals with the replacement of heat exchanger surfaces during simulations in the ANSYS Fluent. The aim of this work is to find a simplified model of the heat exchanger usable for flow simulations in large process and energy units, where it is not possible to model the entire heat exchanger in detail. The calculation procedures are applied to „tube bank” heat exchanger. The master thesis is divided into three parts. First part deals with pressure losses. The "porous zone" approach is used as a replacement for the heat exchanger surface. In the second part, the heat transfer by convection and conduction through the heat exchanger is replaced by the "Heat Exchanger" module. The third part examines the influence of material properties, heat source and fixed temperatures on incident radiation. All calculations resulting from the methods are performed using a script that prepares the output data in format suitable for insertion into ANSYS Fluent. A simplification, which faithfully replaces a fully modeled heat exchanger, has been found in all three parts of the thesis.
