Comparative study of Palestinian intifadas
Bubrlová, Markéta ; Karásek, Tomáš (advisor) ; Kofroň, Jan (referee)
The Middle East conflict between the Israelis and Palestinians dates back to the time of the State of Israel's formation. This work focuses on two significant periods of the Israeli- Palestinian conflict - the Palestinian Intifadas. The primary objective of the work is to compare the differences between the two conflicts. Conflicting databases try to compare in intensity mainly by the number of victims of the two conflicts. Next we focus on the actions of individual players in the conflict, mainly the Israeli government headed by the Prime Minister, opposition Palestinian groups and organizations and other countries. Furthermore, we look at the topics that were discussed during both Intifadas. By comparing these factors we try to find out whether the two conflicts differ, and that during the two decades in which they were fought they somehow significantly changed the nature of the Israeli- Palestinian conflict. I suppose that despite some changes that conflict bought about during the period 1987-2005, the solution is still not yet in sight.
