Magical realism in literature - typology and interpretation (Márquez, Allende, Bulgakov)

Postmodern Czech Performances in Theory and in Practice
Etlíková, Barbora ; CÍSAŘ, Jan (advisor) ; VEDRAL, Jan (referee)
The thesis deals with the way of using the term postmodernism by the Czech-language theatre critique. In the first part I decided to discuss the thesis' subject in the context of other languages' schools of thought. I identified two main possible ways by which philosophers from abroad define the term "postmodernism" in its general meaning. In the first case (e.g. Charles Jencks) I on one hand found out that the term defined as postmodernism can be easily applied considering art -and therefore the theatre as well- but on the other hand I also found that the term itself merge with the meaning of modernism. In the second case (e.g. Jacques Derrida) I came to a conclusion that even though the definition of postmodernism does not merge with definition of modernism, it can be applied only with great difficulties in the cases of theatre and of fine art. Subsequently, I tried to illustrate the way the three approaches manifested themselves into the Czech-language discussion about postmodernism. In the following parts of the thesis I adhered to the theatrical issues more strictly. On the basis of the analyses of two so-called postmodern theatre performances made a ground for the theoretical approach to the means of expression considered as postmodern. (The terminology I used is the one deriving from the work of Otakar Zich and from the Czech structuralism.) In the conclusion of the theatre-theoretic part of my thesis I took the view that the means of expression used in the so-called postmodern theatre productions do not differ in their very nature from the modern ones; that there are different requirements of viewer's reception in the postmodern performaces though. In the very end of my work I considered the problems that appear with the direct transfer of Jacques Derrida's philosophy to the theatre.
The Impact of ICT on marketing
Pyžjanov, Kirill ; Sigmund, Tomáš (advisor) ; Čermák, Radim (referee)
The topic of my thesis is "The Impact of ICT on marketing." I chose this topic, because of its current actuality. The aim of this study is to provide basic comprehensive overview of this relatively new perspective on marketing, bring together and analyze some practical examples of postmodern marketing. The work is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part consists of the first three chapters and the practical part next two chapters. The first chapter deals with the basic concepts of marketing, also focuses on modern marketing. The second chapter is devoted to postmodern marketing, it is presented here in general, postmodernism and its impact on marketing. The second chapter also looks at the impact of ICT on marketing and views (views) by various authors on this issue. The third chapter focuses on the impact of ICT on marketing. The fourth chapter carries out its own research, which means that a questionnaire survey examines the impact of marketing tools to the population in relation to their age. Research is realized between two groups of respondents, when the first group are young people aged 18-30, the second group comprises the contrary, people over 50 years. An integral part of this chapter is the methodology of work. Consequently, it is realized the comparison of the two groups access to selected marketing tools. The fifth chapter is made up of the discussions, which are compared to determine a conclusion. Methods which are used to process the thesis, are mainly quantitative research method, which is implemented in the form of a questionnaire, as well as the method of analysis, comparison and deduction.
Financial Crisis and Methodology of Economics
Kovanda, Lukáš ; Pavlík, Ján (advisor) ; Loužek, Marek (referee) ; Bažantová, Ilona (referee)
The thesis deals with significant moments in the relationship between methodology of economics and implications of the financial crisis culminating in 2008 and 2009. Its key insight rests upon the claim that some theoretical concepts developed within mainstream economics do not tackle the reality adequately and contributed in a significant way to the sequence of events leading to the financial crisis. Most of those concepts were introduced in the second half of the 20th century, during a "high tide" of positivistic ideas in the domain of methodology of mainstream economics. Though the same ideas had been already discredited to a large extent by the philosophy of science at the time, mainstream economists did not reflect it satisfactorily. Aside from a historical expose the thesis consists also of an outline of a possible future development of the prevailing form of economic theory; four scenarios of future potential development are presented. In the final parts of the thesis, which are focused more specifically, the author appraises negatively options of the Austrian School as well as post-Keynesianism to influence in a more significant manner the mainstream economics during the post-crisis era.
The role of irrationality in selected Ian McEwan's early works
KRHUTOVÁ, Karolína
The bachelor thesis "The role of irrationality in selected Ian McEwan's early works" aims to identify and analyze subsequently the above issue in the early works of Ian McEwan. The thesis focuses on two short story collections, that is First Love, Last Rites (1975) and In Between the Sheets (1978), and on the 1978's novel The Cement Garden. VONDRÁŠEK, Václav
The main focus of this master?s thesis is to bring forward and describe the scope of options of how, with the help of fine arts and implementation of experiential pedagogy, young people are creatively aided in processing and grasping variety of topics of the motivational educational program VYTAX, that has as its primary goal to stimulate youth to active involvement in the church. In the theoretical section of this work, the author has attempted to explain the terms relevant to the program itself as they relate to the church and subsequently to clarify the basic ideological direction of the given program in the context of today?s postmodern era. The author places emphasis not only on the program and techniques, but most of all on the pivotal value and impact of quality pedagogical leadership of given collective of young people. In the practical section, the author proposes concrete treatment of 10 topics of the VYTAX program. Morals of the consumer society and their prospects
VESELÁ, Monika
The present bachelor thesis deals with the topic of ``Ethics of the Consumer Society and its Prospects{\crq}q. The thesis objective was to determine, based on a selected population sample, the generally acknowledged symptoms of the consumer way of life and to what extent these symptoms are tolerated or even anticipated to be occurring in connection with the socially accepted desire for success. I felt it necessary to explain some of the elementary notions in the introduction chapter as the comprehension of `ethics{\crq} as well as `consumer society{\crq} may be ambiguous. In the theoretical part of the thesis I tried to define, with the help of the works of contemporary sociologists and philosophers, the difference between the ethics of present consumer society and those of earlier societies. It was necessary to define the areas typical of consumer ethics; thus the theoretical part gives a summary of findings made mainly by the people who express criticism of consumer society. As a counterpoint to the theoretical part, I addressed 10 `ordinary people{\crq} to find out their understanding of what is ethically acceptable (unacceptable respectively) within the present society. The first part of the research was done in form of an interview with the interviewees answering three open questions. Following the interviews, hypotheses were set based on the answers. The second part of the research contained three more questions; this time closed ones with selection of answers and an evaluation scale were offered. I ranked the phenomena according to their frequency of occurrence in the society and according to their acceptability for the interviewees. Thinking about the ethics is not an everyday issue indeed; nevertheless, I managed to elicit subjective opinions from the selected sample. However, even though the interviewees were all people with university degree (i.e. not a representative sample is concerned), thinking of the questions of ethics was uncommon and difficult for them. Due to this reason I would use for a possible future research a greater population sample as well as a simpler questionnaire to elicit acceptability or unacceptability of generally existing phenomena. The thesis has achieved its objective, although I am aware that the extent of this topic can{\crq}t be finalized and I agree that it is worth to deal with further on.
