STEHLÍKOVÁ, Jaroslava
The thesis attempts to outline the extent to which the decision-making role of nurses is utilized, and the main factors that affect decision-making of nurses within the scope of provision of nursing care. The research has found out that nurses utilize their decision-making role to an insufficient extent hence the sense and purpose of decision-making must be emphasised again. This task may be assumed by managing nurses. Managing nurses may also contribute by more effective defending of competences of nurses. From the factors needed by nurses for effective decision-making, attention should be paid particularly to education. It is necessary to make possible for nurses to extend their knowledge and thus to obtain theoretical insight (e.g. in respect of decision-making) to be used by them while providing care to a patient/client.

Teachers' professional motivation
BLAHUTOVÁ, Marcela
This thesis aims to study factors that prods teachers to leave their profession or on the contrary to continue in their work. The theoretical part deals with the teachers? motivation for work, the issue of professional development and the professional identity of pedagogues. To understand the factors that influence the motivation of teachers I used two methods: a structured interview and a questionnaire. The practical part of the thesis then includes the evaluation of data obtained through the above-mentioned survey. The study was conducted in the Pilsen Region. Total of 28 teachers currently working in this profession filled out the questionnaires and were then also interviewed. 28 former teachers agreed to participate in the interviews and 26 persons also completed the questionnaire. Based on the information I gathered I can conclude that teachers are motivated for the most part by the creative work with children which allows them to fulfill their own freedom and creativity. Ample free time appears to be another important factor that encourages teachers to continue in their line of work. On the other hand, teachers most frequently leave their profession due to the low salary and considerable psychological strain.

VAŇKOVÁ, Jana
This thesis deals with the issue of self-reflection of healthcare professionals in the context of treating patients with hopeless prognoses and deaths. Self-reflection is the ability to think about oneself and one?s own actions, and it is one of the prerequisites of personal development. Similarly, this is so in the profession of nurses, who are expected to show, in performing their professional activities, total professionalism, excellent communication skills, and coping with difficult life situations of patients when nurses are expected to support them. Nurses are frequently confronted with severely ill, dying patients, family tragedies, and many other complex situations that affect their mental health, family life and ultimately the profession. The objective of this thesis was to find out how the care of patients in hopeless states and deaths of patients affect nurses? mental health and work in terms of their self-reflection. The theoretical part describes the nursing process for patients with hopeless prognoses and dying people and communicating with them. It also describes self-reflection, motivation, supervision in palliative care and burnout syndrome. The thesis also deals with the emotions of nurses in treating patients with hopeless prognoses and dying patients, as well as the prerequisites of healthcare professionals for treating patients with hopeless prognoses and deaths. The survey was conducted using qualitative research, the method of questioning, using non-standardized interviews. The research group consisted of eight nurses working in hospital České Budějovice a.s. at the departments of oncology, oncohematology, anaesthetic resuscitation, and apallic unit. The survey was conducted during the period from 20 July 2010 to 23 July 2010. he research showed that the mental state, especially their views of life, of nurses treating patients with hopeless prognoses and dying patients has been and is affected. Most of the nurses surveyed said that they have revalued their lives and now they have other priorities. One nurse said that she is trying to take care of herself more. As revealed in the survey, the care of patients with hopeless prognoses and dying patients does not affect the nurses? work itself. Almost all of the nurses approach these patients like the other patients and take the care of them as a part of their profession. The results of this thesis may be used in professional seminars for nurses.

The school is one of the most important factors which influence this process. First of all I summarized psychological theories of self- concept in the theoretical part of this work. Afterward I concerned myself with regulations of the Czech educational system. I tried to find out how the work on developing self - concept of pupils is included. In the practical part of my work I observe how Czech teachers care about self- concept of their pupils, what they know about theories of self- concept and how they work on its development.
