Structural evolution of infra- and superstructure boundary in orogens
Peřestý, Vít ; Lexa, Ondrej (advisor) ; Franěk, Jan (referee)
ENGLISH ABSTRACT This work focuses on structural and deformational aspects of the crust development during orogeny, based on historical suprastructure/infrastructure concept. The uppermost suprastructure is dominated by steep fabrics, which evolved in a brittle regime within early stages of orogeny, and which sustain almost unchanged for the whole period of orogenic evolution. On the other hand, the infrastructure is located in the lower crust, where ductile processes dominate. Because the ductility is a thermally activated process, sufficiently long time is needed to heat the lower crust, and therefore the infrastructure is younger than suprastructure. Gently to shallowly dipping structures develop as a consequence of ductile flow. The aim of this study is to describe processes on the suprastructure/infrastructure boundary. Position of this boundary is closely related to brittle/ductile transition, and so that a brief introduction to rheology is included. Rheological boundaries are often places of high strain and high displacement gradients, which must be somehow accomodated. One possibility is to lose communication between adjacent levels and create a detachment plane, which is commonly supposed in the conventional thrust tectonics model. The other possibility is, that layers are at least partially...
Numerical Modelling of Flow over Spillway
Holinka, Matouš ; Hodák,, Jiří (referee) ; Jandora, Jan (advisor)
This thesis deals with the solution of numerical modeling. Consequently problems associated with the flow of the water over spillway of the specific water structure. In this case numerical modeling means modeling of fluid movement, which is described by mathematical means. Especially nowadays, when a lot of spillways need to be recalculated, whether it meets the capacity demands, or there is no need to tackle reconstruction. With today's software capabilities there is a wide range of commercial and freeware resources. The numerical model, compared to physical model is less accurate which is, on the otherhand, physical model is usually financially and time-consuming. The following work simulates the behavior of water on the edge of the spillway, in the trough and then behind the trough. The result is a comparison of the water depth in the trough calculated by the numerical and the physical model.
Diesel railroad vehicles drive concepts
Polcer, Pavel ; Knotek, Jiří (referee) ; Zubík, Martin (advisor)
Thesis deals with diesel railroad vehicle drive concepts, in other words transmission of power from diesel engine to driven wheels. Currently used drives are described in terms of functionality, limitations and efficiency. Numerical model, which simulates rail vehicle journey, is used to compare efficiency of drives, or more accurately, energy needs for their operation. Based on the numerical model, suitable drives are recommended.
Design and Realization of the Bird Cage Coil for MRI
Sedlář, Petr ; Drexler, Petr (referee) ; Nešpor, Dušan (advisor)
The work deals with the design and experimental production of the model type Birdcage coil used for magnetic resonance imaging system (MRI). The work deals with the design and behaviour of the model type Birdcage coil volume designed for imaging system for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Volume coils are generally very useful for use in MRI, because in transversal design allow easy access into the cavity when the flow vector of magnetization. The aim of the work was to construct a numerical model of transversal coil type Birdcage of the predefined dimensions. The created the coil tuned the desired resonant frequency having regard to maximize performance in the measured sample migrated. The modeling coil experimentally produced and measurements also confirm the accuracy of the numerical model.
Feasibility study of the flood protection measures in the localities of Husovice and Židenice at the Svitava river at km 6,000 – 9,000
Hanzlíková, Zuzana ; Höll, Jan (referee) ; Dráb, Aleš (advisor)
Diploma thesis deals with a suggestion of flood protection measures on the Svitava river in km 6,000 – 9,000. Solved locality is found in Brno, particularly in city parts of Husovice and Židenice. Thanks to used joined 1D and 2D model were made hydraulic calculations for peak water stages Q1, Q5, Q20 a Q100. The outputs of hydraulic calculations were used afterwards for creation of maps of flood danger and drawing documentation of flood protection measures.
Effect of an exhaust opening location on air quality in an apartment
Charvát, Tomáš ; Forman, Matěj (referee) ; Krejčí, Vladimír (advisor)
This thesis deals with the influence of the location of exhaust outlets on the air quality. The study examines the performance of the hybrid ventilation system installed in an experimental house. The central point of this work is a numerical model of a bedroom with heat and carbon dioxide sources. The temperature, speed and concentration fields have been solved for, from which further quantities of thermal comfort PMV, PPD and DR were evaluated. Finally, the impact of changes in the quality of the microclimate using these quantities and in the energy efficiency ventilation is assessed.
CFD modelling of grate combustion of solid fuels
Static analysis of one joint of timber structure
Sedlák, Petr ; Gratza, Roman (referee) ; Kytýr, Jiří (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the numerical modeling of the nail joint of the timber roof structure and it is based on the already realized physical experiment. Totally twelve various solutions, where the isotropic and ortotropic characteristics of the spruce timber and steel components change, have been created. The final values of the joint shift obtained by using of the numerical modeling are compared with results of physical experiment. Program system ANSYS is used.

Mathematical modelling of wind waves
Bendová, Gabriela ; Golík, Pavel (referee) ; Jandora, Jan (advisor)
The work deals with mathematical modeling of wind waves on water reservoirs and their effects on different types of slopes. The research work was carried out using a vast array of available literature written on this topic in the Czech Republic and partly abroad. And we also deal with the hydrodynamics problems, creating mathematical and numerical model Further simulations were created in two numerical models. Simulations were created in two programs FLOW-3D and DualSPHysics. Vast variety of situations was created in DualSPHysics program because it seems more appropriate for modeling of this situation. It was created twenty-seven simulations and their results are compared with results coming from valid Czech standard ČSN 75 0255.
