The impact of the global financial crisis on the EU banking sector

This master thesis is focused on assessing the impact of the global financial crisis on the EU banking sector. The main objectives is the description and analysis of measures taken by U.S. and European policies in response to the collapsing banking market. In the first part I deal with the beginning of the crisis in the U.S., defining the causes of the crisis, impact on the U.S. banking rescue and analysis of individual steps by the government and FED. The second and third part is already fully paid to the situation in the European Union. Besides of the stimulus policies of the ECB, which shoud prevented the deepening recession in the EU, I try to analyze and evaluate the impact of the Larosiere report. Large space is devoted to evaluation of Stress test of European's banks 2010, which were carried out by the ECB. In conclusion, I try to show my subjective outline of future development of European's banking market.
Macroeconomic fundamental analysis of Europe, Asia and America with accent on banking sector

The aim of the thesis is analysing and evaluating the situation in each region through macroeconomical factors. First chapter is focused on Europe. The most interesting part of this chapter is the fiscal policy. Second chapter provides insight to fascinating Asia and its huge rise in recent past. Third chapter provides analysis of development of interesting economical values in America. Last fourth chapter includes econometrical analysis of relationships between time series of macroeconomical values and stock prices of representative bank shares from all regions enriched by equations for forecasting of future stock prices.
The analysis of the chosen bank in a context of the Czech bank sector

The thesis is considering financial analysis of Česká spořitelna a.s. The main aim is to show importance of particular financial indicators as an outcome of financial analysis of the bank as an institution administering money of third persons. The thesis is evolved not only by time analysis, but is also focused on inter-bank competition, where it has been taken to comparison with reference group "The big banks". The analysis involves the structure of assets and liabilities, structure of profit, analysis of profitability, liquidity and capital adequacy. The particular aim of the work is to consider situation of the bank sector in the Czech Republic in relation to economical climate of recent years.
Analysis the impact of financial crisis on the banking system in Kazakhstan

The diploma thesis analyzes the impact of financial crisis, the decline in the economic system of Kazakhstan and in particular the impact on the banking system. The work is divided into three parts, which analyzing the impact of the crisis on the economy in the world and Kazakhstan, on the banking sector, and each chapter is accompanied by recommendations for their solution, and the overall summary. The first chapter defines the concept of financial crisis, disassembled typology and their origins. In addition, it is characterized by economy, banking and financial sectors in Kazakhstan and cause a crisis in the Republic. The second chapter analyzes the impact of financial crisis on the banking system in Kazakhstan, including an analysis of the banking sector itself. Subsequently, is evaluated the impact of the crisis by monitoring of bank assets, the quality of loans, deposits, foreign debt and rating. The third chapter is devoted to the consequences and lessons for the economy and banking sector of Kazakhstan and the various approaches to solving the crisis in the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States. At the conclusion of the work were reviewed and accepted hypotheses set out in the introduction.
The Influence of Financial and Economic Crisis on Iceland

The diploma thesis concentrates on the financial and economic crisis on Iceland, analyses its triggers, describes its consequences and assumes possible future development of the country. The crisis on Iceland was caused by some imperfections of the economy and too big expansion of the bank activities abroad. Global recession sharpened the situation so much that the former successful economy was not able to fulfil its financial obligations. Economic growth fell and debts grew. This work shows the situation, where even the economically developed country can due to wrongly set economic parameters occur near to its bankruptcy. As a conclusion, there is shown the way out of crisis, which Iceland chose and began with the help of international organisations and also other countries. The thesis also analyses positive development of the situation due to the implemented regulations and restrictions and describes its future perspectives.
Chinese banking sector: specifics and problems

The subject of this bachelor thesis is the problems and specifics of the Chinese banking sector. Thesis is divided into three main parts. The first chapter is focused on the presentation of Chinese banking sector including its history and main types of institutions existing here. The next part examines the problems of Chinese banking sector with special attention devoted to problems which banks had with non-performing loans. In the last chapter thesis looks into Chinese banking sector development following the year 2001, especially into China's obligations towards WTO as well as into the listing of Chinese banks.
Prospects of Iceland's membership of the European Union in the context of economic crisis

The thesis deals with the prospects of Iceland's potential membership of the European Union after a deep systemic financial crisis that hit the country in the second half of 2008. Next summer, Icelandic government applied for a first time in history for a membership of the EU. However, Iceland was for a long time known as a country denying any political integration with other European countries, defending its neutrality and restricting its foreign policy to business ties. The thesis has two main goals. The first one is to try to answer the question whether Iceland will actually join the Union or not. The final decision will be in hands of Icelandic citizens because they have to ratify the accession treaty in a national referendum. The second goal is to evaluate advantages and disadvantages of adopting the euro currency for Iceland as this was one of the main arguments of pro-European Icelanders.

Analysis of loan portfolio of selected Czech banks

This paper analyzes the loan portfolio of selected Czech banks. The first two chapters are theoretical. It describes basic characteristics of credit risk and classification of assets in the banking sector. The practical part deals with the structure of the credit portfolio of the banking sector during the financial crisis. The portfolio is analyzed from the sectoral point of view and in terms of risk of loans. Greater attention is paid to the claims of failure. The same procedure is applied on two large and one medium-sized banks operating in the Czech banking market.
