Child Protection Legislation and Problems in the Application Thereof
KADLEC, David
Child protection legislation provides the means and legal basis for appropriate child care in situations where the constructive development and life of a child are at risk. This bachelor thesis addresses the work of a youth curator, who, as a social worker of a child protection agency, applies such legislation in practice. The aim of this thesis was to highlight the problems of applying current child protection legislation and to propose ways forward and solutions. The sample was limited to a group of children with educational problems. The research methodology was based on qualitative research practices and techniques. An analysis of the content of the case records of children with educational problems was the main technique, which was later supplemented by a technique of non-standard interviewing. The research results are presented in the form of case studies accompanied by interviews. The case studies and interviews confirmed that existing child protection legislation can be applied to a wide range of situations. It followed from the discussion that the application of child protection legislation is faced in particular with problems of inconsistency in the practices used by different child protection institutions. These problems consequently impair the efficiency of the youth curator{\crq}s work. The creation of a policy establishing uniform procedures for all participating institutions or the establishment of a state institution to coordinate these processes would offer a way forward in tackling these issues.

Impact of marriage break-up on value orientation of children and youth
RYSOVÁ, Zuzana
The work titled ,,Impact of marriage break-up on value orientation of children and youth{\crq}q deals with values and value system of youth, divorce of marriage, post-divorce family setup and impact of divorce on children. I have briefly discussed also issues concerning family and marriage. The purpose and aim of the work was to identify how children and youth understand and experience break-up of their parent{\crq}s marriage, how they managed to cope with this situation and if their moral development and value orientation have been affected. In relation to such objective I have brought up four hypothesis. Hypothesis H1: I assume that divorce of parents affects value scale of children and youth . Hypothesis H2: Divorce of parents predominantly evokes negative feelings, uncertainty, nostalgia. Hypothesis H3: Frustration related to family situation after divorce results in deterioration of school results of children and youth. And at the end the hypothesis H4: After divorce behavior of children and youth towards authorities and their surroundings deteriorates. I have chosen quantitative research for my work and used questioning method, questionnaire technique. The questionnaires have been designed for pupils and students of elementary and secondary schools in Písek and Strakonice. With regard to my hypothesis the research revealed interesting findings. Hypothesis H1 and H2 have been confirmed, however hypothesis H3 and H4 were negated. Therefore divorce impact on deterioration of behavior and school results of respondents has not been confirmed. The following interesting facts resulted from the research. I have found that every 4th pupil or student experienced divorce of his/her parents. The traditional post-divorce family setup still prevails, i.e. children are in the custody of their mother. Alternating or joint custody is quite exceptional as well as custody of a father. The work results are intended mainly for parents and social workers in order to understand what impact divorce may have on children and how important it is to provide them special care in these difficult times. Divorce does not necessarily need to have negative impact on children, if they do not experience hostility between parents and the post-divorce family setup is adopted to individual needs of all family members, i.e. also of children.

Experience with alkohol at students of secondary vocational schools in Chomutov
RAZAKOWSKÁ, Jana
Alcohol consumption has been widespread among young people in the Czech Republic. Since our society accept this phenomenon the problematics has become more and more serious. The thesis should map the situation concerning alcohol consumption among 15{--}19 year old students of secondary technical schools in Chomutov, their first experience with this drug, where they first tasted it and how often they use it, and compare the results of the survey to the ESPAD study. Some other information was requested, e.g. students´ opinion on abstinence from drinking at social events or their personal experience of illegal drugs. The theoretical part of the thesis is concerned with the impact of alcohol use on a human body, alcohol abuse rise, alcoholism as a psychosomatic disease, risks resulting from drinking alcohol and prevention of this pathological phenomenon. The hypothesis stated at the beginning, that most students have personal experience with alcohol drinking, has been proved. A quantitative method based on the unnamed questionnaires for 15{--}19 year old students was used for collecting the data. It was proceeded by a test survey at secondary nursing school where only some students were chosen to respond so that the functionality and completeness of the questionnaire could be checked. There were 259 students asked to fill in the questionnaire. 96,5 % of them drink alcohol occasionally, they first tasted it at home parties when they were 13 years old. The results of this survey were referred to school headteachers and those who are working on social pathological phenomenon prevention so that they can use the information in the framework of primary prevention at schools.
