Individual planning as a tool of quality increasing social service of personal assistance in people with disability and seniors in Praha
SEDLÁKOVÁ, Kateřina
This diploma thesis is concerned with individual planning with regard to the social service of personal assistance. The theoretical part contains a description of the origin and history of personal assistance in the world and in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part elaborates in detail on the no. 5 standard of quality of services provided and its four criteria. It also provides an overview of existing approaches toward individual planning of the social service of personal assistance for the target group of people with physical disabilities and seniors, including their positives and negatives, which the system of individual planning brings to providers of the social service of personal assistance and its users. The diploma thesis had two goals. The first was to ascertain the value of individual planning for users of the social service of personal assistance. The second was to assess the benefits that individual planning brings to organizations that provide the social service of personal assistance to people with serious physical disabilities and seniors with regard to improving the efficacy of the work of their employees. The practical part is based on qualitative research, with the main method of data collection being semi-structured interviews. The results showed that users do not see a major change in the way personal assistance is provided after the introduction of the individual planning system when compared to the situation before. Users mainly appreciated the fact that assistants are well-prepared even before the provision of assistance starts. This factor was unequivocally praised as a positive and a reason why individual planning should be introduced. In conclusion, the only negative aspect of individual planning for the employees was considered to be a higher administrative load, which, however, they were able to handle in the end, according their responses. On the other hand, both groups considered the greater level of preparedness of the social workers ? personal assistants during their social work a big benefit.
Individual Care Planning with Users of Personal Assistance and Care Services
SOCHOROVÁ, Kateřina
This diploma thesis deals with the process of individual planning focusing on the care in the organization providing domiciliary services and care services. The theoretical section devoted attention to the development of social services in the Czech Republic. Furthermore, it specifies care services as well as personal assistance services. According to the Act 108/2006 Coll., on social services, providers of social services are obligated to draw up quality standards of social services and to respect them. In the theoretical section, there are briefly described all quality standards of social services. The thesis is focused mainly on quality standard No. 5 (The Individual Planning in Social Services). The public notice No. 505/2006 Coll. defines the criteria, which are obligatory to be respected by providers of social services. The aim of the thesis was to find out, how are the criteria of the quality standard No. 5 ensured by providers of personal assistance and care services. A partial aim of the work was to outline, to which users makes the individual planning the biggest difficulties. H1: Difficulty of meeting quality standard No. 5 declines with the increasing number of activities, required from the user of the social service. I?ve chosen a qualitative research to test the hypothesis and for achievement of the objectives. The relevant qualitative research relied on the questioning method. Questions in the first part of the questionnaire are directed to the main objective of the thesis, questions in the second part to the stopover and to the testing of the hypothesis. For the selected questions, I carried out a statistical analysis of dependence in the cross tabulations and an analysis based on the uncertainty coefficient by using the SPSS program. As part of my research, I approached provider of the care and personal assistance in the South Bohemian Region via e-mail. 167 completed questionnaires returned back. After summarizing of these results, we can conclude that the criteria of the quality standard No. 5 are reflected by the vast majority of providers. The providers have a written methodology for individual planning and they practice it. They plan together with the user, taking into account his personal target and they evaluate the plan collectively. They have a written system for the transmission of information about an individual users? planning and the staff follows it. Individual planning makes the greatest difficulties to the providers with users using only a small scale care. This fact is confirmed by the results of statistical analysis. Based on respondents' answers, the hypothesis that the difficulty of meeting the quality of standard No. 5 decreases with increasing number of required activities by the user of social services, can be consider as valid.
The Importance of in-home nursing care for seniors and their families
ŠPAČKOVÁ, Ivana
Domiciliary care as a field or ambulatory service is provided to people with reduced self-sufficiency due to age, chronic illness or disability and is also used by families with children, whose situation requires assistance of another person. The aim of the service is to individually support a person's life in their natural environment. The theoretical part is divided into five chapters. The first chapter deals with old age and aging, as it is the time when changes affecting the overall function of human body occur. These are then reflected in increased vulnerability, limited performance and decline of an individualas abilities. The second chapter deals with changes that come with age, which mainly relate to the physical, psychological and social area. In the third chapter I describe the current situation in the provision of social services. These services are defined by the Act no.108/2006 Coll. primarily as a means to ensure the greatest mental and physical self-sufficiency of the individual obtainable. The services seek to enable people to participate in daily life, live in dignified environment and be treated with respect. The fourth chapter deals with the concept of providing domiciliary care services in the Czech Republic. The last, fifth, chapter deals with individual planning, which is one of the most important tools to ensure and improve the quality of social services provided and is also enshrined in the Act no.108/2006Coll. describing social services. The practical part of my thesis was elaborated by the qualitative research technique, specifically the questioning method using a semi-standardized interview with predetermined open-ended questions and by analysis of personal documentation. Basic research sample consisted of selected users and staff of the care services provider Ledax (charitable trust). The aim of this research was to determine factors that are perceived by health care users as major. The investigation showed that these are mainly health deterioration and old age. My research has shown that users perceive their key worker rather as a confidant. They are not afraid to confide their feelings or problems to them and report that the worker always has enough time to hear them. On the contrary, the workers themselves see their role only as a helper's and also due to the large workload lack sufficient time for the user. From my own experience I can confirm that this problem is often encountered because caregivers are responsible for more users, and the care is not concentrated in one place. The solution for this situation would be to reduce the number of users assigned to one caregiver, but the provider would be forced to expand their staff. However providers are currently limited by operational and financial limits of the given organization. It is important to emphasize that if the care and support provided by the user be at a professional level, the key worker should coordinate the care for the user and be their confidant and guide in a difficult season of life. Although there are some differences in the view of the factor of caregiver's personality, I think that the fact that users perceive their caregiver as a confidant is also a guarantee of efficient implementation of individual planning in the organization of the provider.

Individual Planning Application with Clients of Sheltered Housing.
HORŇÁČKOVÁ, Marta
A very much debated topic is currently an issue of the individual planning with users of social services. It has been seen as a cornerstone in a rendition of the first-rate social service. It is legitimized in the Law No. 108/2006 Coll., on social services, where an obligation to plan a course of the service with the user is imposed with a respect to his/her needs and wishes so that he/she could be satisfied with an implementation and realization of the individual plans. The individual planning also belongs to important quality standards, that must be met so that the service could be provided on a high quality level, effectively and in accordance with the mission and goals of the organization while respecting the individual needs of the users. The aim of my thesis is to find out in which way the individual planning is carried out with users of the sheltered housing ?Proutek? in Jindřichův Hradec, whose clientele are people with mental disabilities. In the theoretical part, in order to achieve the objective, I will describe the individual planning, what specifics it has, methods and practices in the social work with mentally handicapped users, I will emphasize prerequisites for a successful planning with clients with mental disabilities. I will focus on the person of the worker who is engaged in the individual planning, how much he/she has been trained, which principles he/she should follow in the planning course to ensure the already above mentioned quality of the service in accordance with the standards. In the practical part I will specifically focus on an implementation of important preconditions for the high-quality individual planning for the users with mental disabilities in the sheltered housing. Through semi-controlled interviews with four assistants who realize the individual planning in the housing, I will find out the way of an implementation of the planning in the service, further I will evaluate positives as well as negatives which can occur during the individual planning with this specific group of users. An output of my bachelor thesis is an evaluation of the individual planning implementation in the service. A comparison of the assistants´ work and pointing out a good practice in a rendition of the first-rate individual planning with users with mental disabilities, focused on an application of principal planning prerequisites usable also for other establishments with a similar type of the service.

SOCHOROVÁ, Kateřina
ABSTRACT Act 108/2006 Coll., On social services, has made the issue of individually planned care a widely discussed subject, since it obligated the providers of social services, inter alia, to plan their activities in view of individual needs. The individually planned care is also one of major standards supposed to be met, if the services are to be rendered effectively and in good quality. The Bachelor paper aimed to explore the process of planning as applied at the Světlo (Light) Senior Citizen Home in the town of Písek. Moreover, the author strived to find out the extent to which the clients and the personnel were informed on the individual planning; in which way the relevant documentation was prepared on the premises; and whether the documentation satisfied the legal requirements. The theoretical section devoted attention to the principle concepts such as age; aging; and biological, mental and social changes in the lives of senior citizens. The author endeavored to specify the differences between the care that the citizens were given at residential facilities before 1989 and what they receive today. The next section deals with Act 108/2006 Coll. and presents facts about the Světlo Senior Citizen Home. The practical section was primarily intended to scrutinize the planning procedure specifically applied. The relevant qualitative research relied on the method semi-guided interviews held with five clients and with the related key personnel. Documentation was examined using the method of document analysis. The research yielded these conclusions: The facility plans the individual care effectively and in good quality. The clients are adequately informed on the process of individual planning, and the personnel are regularly instructed and ready to offer a great professional competence. Documentation is maintained properly, fully meeting what the legislation requires. Results of the research can provide information on the planning process of individual care, and they can become a source of inspiration not only to workers engaged in rendering social services but also to the general public.

The information from persons was collected via moderated interviews. The main objective of this work is to find out and to compare requirements of residents in individual retirement homes as concerns social services, i.e. whether provided services are sufficient, or which services the seniors miss in the facilities. In the theoretical part of the thesis, I focus to the problem of ageing and associated consequences. I also analyze the problem of quality standards, especially its individual adjustment to users. One part of the thesis also deals with the description of the Social Services Centre in Tachov and the retirement homes that belong to its administration. The practical survey in this study compares requirements of the occupants in the individual retirement homes. The results of this thesis might be used to extend the offer of activities in retirement homes and this information can also motivate the personnel as well the management of these facilities.
