Design of SAL asphalt mixtures for rehabilitation of concrete pavements
Vlk, Radomír ; Hegr, Zdeněk (referee) ; Varaus, Michal (advisor)
This master's thesis describes how to use the asphalt layer called Stress Absorbing Layer (SAL) and comparises it with other types of SAL with different types of asphalt binders. In the first theoretical part is SAL generally described. In the second part is SAL practically tested and described.
New directions for waterproofing of underground transport
Čech, Tomáš ; Čížek, Luboš (referee) ; Šťastník, Stanislav (advisor)
This diploma thesis focuses on the implementation of waterproofing of underground constructions using an LLDPE membrane hinged on anchors. In the future, this method will replace the commonly used waterproofing system in Scandinavia with extruded polyethylene foam. This method of tunnel construction and waterproofing is compared with the NRTM method, often used in Central Europe. The thesis describes the installation of a waterproofing system, especially materials, accessories, welding devices and auxiliary installation equipment. The main focus of the thesis is to verify the reliability of the individual types of welds and to assess the waterproofing system in terms of implementation and environmental demands.
Inovative asphalt mixtures to flexible pavement structure with using reclaimed asphalt
Horáček, Daniel ; Poulík, Zdeněk (referee) ; Kudrna, Jan (advisor)
The diploma thesis is focused on the design and production of two innovative asphalt mixtures of the VMT 22 type into the base asphalt course. The newly produced blends contain modified binders, such as polymer modified bitumen (PMB) and Crumb rubber modified bitumen (CRMB). The theoretical part of the thesis describes the current state of the use of Reclaimed asphalt pavement in the base asphalt course. Furthermore, there are described types of asphalt mixtures for the base asphalt course are used in the Czech Republic and other countries. The conclusion of the theoretical part is devoted to the description of Reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP), its storage and processing in a hot mix center. In the practical part of this thesis, there is described design and test of two High modulus asphalt mixture VMT 22, into which 25% RAP is dosed cold without rejuvenators. These asphalt mixtures are then subjected to functional tests (Stiffness of asphalt mixture test, Resistance to fatigue test, Low temperature properties of asphalt mixture test). The results of the functional tests are compared with the functional requirements in the Czech regulation TP 151. In the end of this thesis it is verified by means of the LayEps software that a suitable design of the asphalt mixture can significantly extend the road life.
Swedish and US AR mixture design comparison
Puda, Adam ; Frýbort, David (referee) ; Kudrna, Jan (advisor)
This master's theseis deals with comparison of two design concepts for producting asphalt mixture with CRmB. These design concepts are from Sweden and USA. The theoretical part sets parameters for design of asphalt mixture and chracteristic tests. In the practical part test speciements of design asphatl mixture undergo performace tests that simulate climate and traffic load. Results are compared to mathematical model used in program LayEps.
Properties of reclaimed bitumens from asphalt mixtures with RAP
Mucha, Ondřej ; Dašek, Ondřej (referee) ; Hýzl, Petr (advisor)
Subject of this diploma thesis is the issue of asphalt mixtures with RA. The theoretical part of the work describes the RA itself, how it is obtained, the requirements according to currently valid standards, the production of asphalt mixture with RA, various options for rejuvenating aged binder, the materials used and the individual testing methods. In the practical section, selected empirical and functional parameters of extracted binders from samples are determined. This part evaluates and compares the results of properties of reclaimed asphalt binders from asphalt mixtures, where aged asphalt binders were rejuvenated by different methods during their production.
PmB - Polymer modified bitumens
Venclíková, Michaela ; Dašek, Ondřej (referee) ; Hýzl, Petr (advisor)
In this bachelor thesis, there are described modified bitumens. The issue of modified bitumens will be explained in the theoretical part. In the practical part, it will be prepared set of modified bituminous binders with different degree of modification. Basic empirical testing and functional testing will be determined. The aim of thesis is to find the optimal source of unmodified bitumen for modification.
Road for cyclists in Vnorovy
Komoň, Richard ; Patočka, Miroslav (referee) ; Smělý, Martin (advisor)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to design a solution for cycling transport in the village of Vnorovy and its connection to the existing cycling route. It is a common communication for cyclists, pedestrians and farm machinery. The communication is conducted mainly on parcels owned by the municipality. The only exception is the descent to one field, which is located on parcels owned by private owners. In agreement with the mayor village of Vnorovy, the proposed route will be implemented in the near future.
Evaluation of properties of asphalt binder from waste materials containing bitumen
Košťálová, Aneta ; Hegr, Zdeněk (referee) ; Dašek, Ondřej (advisor)
The bachelor's thesis deals with the comparison of the properties of two types of asphalt binders obtained from waste materials. The theoretical part contains the properties of bitumen waterproofing sheet and asphalt shingles. In the following practical part, tests of asphalt binders on individual samples are described and then carried out. These include tests to determine needle penetration, softening point by the Ring and Ball method, determination of the elastic recovery and determination of rheological properties by DSR. Finally, the results are evaluated, summarized and compared with each other.
Effect of the use of dispersed fibres on the properties of asphalt mixtures
Provazník, Petr ; Bohuš, Štěpán (referee) ; Šperka, Pavel (advisor)
Diploma thesis deals with the topic of using dispersed glass fibers in asphalt mixtures. The theoretical part describes the general properties of glass fibres, their production and use. It also describe issue of dispersed fibers which are currently used as an additive in asphalt mixtures. The practical part deals with behaviour of asphalt mixture which contains dispersed glass fibers. For that reason several test sets with different glass fibre dosages were made. Then individual properties of these test sets were compared with a reference mixture without fibres. The workability of the glass fibres in the asphalt mixture was assessed and after that selected laboratory tests were performed on the produced asphalt mixture namely: water resistence (ITSR), stiffness, wheel tracking, resistence to fatigue.
Coarse-grained asphalt mixtures
Rimel, Jindřich ; Dašek, Ondřej (referee) ; Hýzl, Petr (advisor)
The diploma thesis investigates the properties of coarse-grained asphalt mixtures ACP 32, which are compared with the properties of ACP 22 mixtures. The theoretical part deals with the composition of asphalt mixtures, their production, transport and laying. Experience with using coarse-grained mixtures around the world is also presented. The practical part deals with mixture design, production and testing to assess the properties of the mixtures. The tests selected for the comparison of the properties are wheel tracking, TSRST and stiffness by a two-point bending test.
